Story
Apply to Adopt Me! Meet Louie, a 13 to 15-year-old, 11-pound Chihuahua with a sweet, independent personality. Louie may be a senior, but he still has some spunk! One of his favorite things is heading outside to do his “happy laps” around the yard, and he’ll often get bursts of happy energy after a good meal or nap. Little by little, Louie has come out of his shell and is constantly surprising his current foster. Previously thought to not be interested in toys, he recently started showing interest! He may not be interested in playing with other dogs, but Louie absolutely knows how to enjoy himself and brings a quiet joy to the home. A Note from Louie’s Foster: "When Louie first came into rescue after losing the only home he’d known, he was understandably shut down and heartbroken. But over the past several weeks, I’ve watched him slowly come out of his shell in the sweetest ways. I call him my “little onion,” because every layer that peels back reveals even more personality, happiness, and spunk. Watching Louie transform has been such a joy. From running happy laps around the backyard for no reason at all, to discovering toys, to enjoying little walks on a leash, he continues to surprise me all the time. He may be a senior, but his resilience has honestly blown me away. Louie is truly one of the easiest fosters I’ve had. He just wants a peaceful home where he can relax, wander the yard, follow his person around, and feel safe and loved again. Whoever adopts him is going to get a very special little dog." Louie likes being near his people and part of your day, but he’s not overly demanding or clingy. He’s more of a calm companion than a lap dog—happy to nap nearby, wander the yard, or quietly keep you company. He gets along with respectful dogs who allow him his space and would do best in a peaceful, low-key home environment. He doesn't love being alone for long periods of time, but does well on his own for a few hours. We don't believe Louie is used to going on regular walks, but he has been LOVING them with his foster mom. He does very well on leash. He’s perfectly content getting his exercise and outdoor time by leisurely sniffing and exploring the yard, so daily walks don’t seem necessary for him to be happy. Louie really enjoys spending time outside and would love a home with a secure yard where he can comfortably wander, explore, and do his beloved laps. Louie has stage 2 kidney disease, which is currently very manageable with his prescription kidney diet and regular potty breaks. Because of this, staying hydrated is important, and Louie does a great job with this! Regular potty breaks help him feel his best. Louie is house-trained, but may have an accident if not let out in time. He does a great job of standing at the door to let you know he has to go. The only occasional accidents he’s had with his current foster have happened when no one was home to let him out in time. Otherwise, Louie handles his business in the yard like a pro and seems quite proud of himself when he does. Louie has been great about sleeping through the night, but may occasionally need a middle-of-the-night potty break. It's rare, especially if he goes out right before bed. When he does need to go, he will hop out into the yard, do his business, and then run back inside and right back to bed, where he usually sleeps until his foster mom is up. Car rides make Louie nervous, and he can be vocal while traveling. He would be much happier relaxing at home than tagging along for road trips. Outside of the car, he is a very easygoing little guy. He has a good appetite, loves chicken treats, and is simply a joyful little pup. Louie came to Lil Rascals Rescue when his owners were moved to a long-term care facility. He has diminished vision (mostly outside in bright light), but he gets around very well and can definitely still see—well enough to chase a small lizard! His hearing is fading, though he recognizes certain familiar sounds, especially anything involving the backyard door opening. He appears to have had dental work not too long ago, and it was discovered that he has an oronasal fistula. It does not seem to cause him any discomfort and he currently has no symptoms, but he will need to remain on a soft diet. Due to his age, Lil Rascals has decided not to put him through surgery for the fistula. Louie is looking for a comfortable, quiet, all-adult home where he can enjoy his golden years with people who appreciate a sweet senior dog with an independent spirit and a surprisingly playful side. Story
Apply to Adopt Me! Potatoes, anyone?? Meet Blanket (also affectionately called Spud or Little Man). An 8-yo, 11-lb Chi mix with the cutest little bunny bottom who is on his way to an ideal weight of 7-8lbs. Sadly, he was surrendered after his elderly owner was unable to care for him. Blanket is doing well in his foster home and gets along with a same size and larger dog but doesn’t require a companion dog. He does not pay any attention to a cat. He will need time to adapt to a new environment when he finds his new forever home. He approaches for pets, cuddles and joining his person on the couch and will follow foster mom from room to room. While not leash trained (fearful), he loves the outdoors, Sun bathing and hanging out with the other pups and exploring sights and smells. Blanket is a good eater (hence weight loss agenda), even likes veggies and takes treats gently. He’s house trained, rides nicely, crated, sleeps quietly all night in his crate when given his nightly treat. This little boy can be somewhat nervous to be picked up, but allows with gentle assurances and is easy to be bathed. He recently had a dental. He would do best in a quiet home and respectful, older children. This friendly boy will steal your heart with his soulful eyes, sweet kisses and gentle manner. Although showing no interest in toys at first, Blanket now carries a stuffed toy around (for comfort?) while waiting for meals or to go outside. Part of his personality is expressed with his tongue out, evidenced in many pictures. If you live in the Central Florida Orlando area, and believe you have the perfect home for awaiting Blanket, please complete an app and tell us more about you.June 18, 2026, 4:55 pm

Story
Apply to Adopt Me! Pacho is an adorable approx. 10yo, 7-lb. male chihuahua with the sweetest, most loving personality you'll ever find in a little dog. He came to us as a stray and stole our hearts immediately, and now he's ready to steal yours. As soon as he came into his foster home, he made himself right at home - no adjustment period, no anxiety. He simply walked in and belonged. Unfortunately, Pacho came to us with severe dental disease that required extracting all but one of his teeth. He recovered like a champ and eats just fine either soft food or soaked kibble. He doesn't respond to his new given name, but a little patience and treat training and he'll learn whatever name his forever family gives him. Pacho is the definition of a lap dog. He loves every single person he meets. No warming-up period needed, no stranger danger, just instant affection for everyone who walks through the door. His favorite activity is being close to his person, whether that's curling up in your lap, snuggling beside you on the couch, or keeping you company during late-night TV. He will do little cries for your attention, but he settles quickly. He just wants to know you're there. Pacho does well with other dogs as long as introductions are calm and relaxed. If a dog tries to get in his face right away, he can get nervous, but push through that first sniff and he warms up easily. If the other dog simply ignores him, he's completely unbothered and chill. He is not cat-friendly; he will chase a cat, though he never actually closes the gap. He enjoys playing with toys as you can see in his video. Pacho is house trained as long as he's walked on a schedule. Two to three walks a day and there will be zero indoor accidents. He doesn't signal when he needs to go out, so it's up to you to keep the routine. He will sleep comfortably in a cozy, enclosed space overnight. On walks, Pacho likes to set his own pace. If you pull the leash, he'll simply freeze on the spot. Let him lead and he's a happy walker. Whoever adopts Pacho is getting the ultimate companion dog. He doesn't need a big yard, but he does love the outdoors and soaks up every bit of outside time he gets. He needs your love and attention, and he will give every bit of it right back. If you live in the Central Florida/Orlando area and believe you have the perfect forever home for this sweet little guy, complete an app and tell us more about you.June 18, 2026, 4:55 pm
