Story
Zoey is 7 years old and she belonged to my parents who passed away 20 days apart from each other so I took her in as no one else was able to and I did not want her thrown in a shelter. As much as we love her, I never had the time for a pet but our children had just lost their cat so we figured Zoey would comfort them. Zoey is very relaxed and chill but will bark if she hears a truck. She loves to lay in the sun or on the couch. She likes treats and she is great with kids. She does seem to be scared of other dogs if they’re big. She is fully up to date on shots, has no health issues & her last rabies was given in November 2025. She is pee pad trained but will go outside if walked. She listens very well & will obey to “come” “stay” “down” “no” & is very well behaved home alone. She’s never shown aggression and doesn’t chew on anything. She is also a service animal. We want to make sure she goes to a loving family.

Story
Dexter is a 4-year-old Chihuahua/Dachshund (chi-weenie) mix weighing approximately 26 pounds. He came to us when his owner died and he was being kept in a tiny cage. He is timid but has come a long way. He loves to play tug of war and he is very strong. He gets along with the other dogs but has not been cat or kid-tested. He is friendly and lovable when he gets to know you. His adoption donation is $250 which includes his neuter, vaccinations, and microchip. He is heartworm-negative and on monthly prevention. He is still grieving for the loss of his owner and home so please help him heal. https://www.aforeverhomeanimalrescue.org/store/p42/Dexter.html We are only able to adopt within the state of Florida. We have a page on our website that explains our adoption process, and contains a link to our adoption application. Story
Apply to Adopt Me! Meet Louie, a 13 to 15-year-old, 11-pound Chihuahua with a sweet, independent personality. Louie may be a senior, but he still has some spunk! One of his favorite things is heading outside to do his “happy laps” around the yard, and he’ll often get bursts of happy energy after a good meal or nap. Little by little, Louie has come out of his shell and is constantly surprising his current foster. Previously thought to not be interested in toys, he recently started showing interest! He may not be interested in playing with other dogs, but Louie absolutely knows how to enjoy himself and brings a quiet joy to the home. A Note from Louie’s Foster: "When Louie first came into rescue after losing the only home he’d known, he was understandably shut down and heartbroken. But over the past several weeks, I’ve watched him slowly come out of his shell in the sweetest ways. I call him my “little onion,” because every layer that peels back reveals even more personality, happiness, and spunk. Watching Louie transform has been such a joy. From running happy laps around the backyard for no reason at all, to discovering toys, to enjoying little walks on a leash, he continues to surprise me all the time. He may be a senior, but his resilience has honestly blown me away. Louie is truly one of the easiest fosters I’ve had. He just wants a peaceful home where he can relax, wander the yard, follow his person around, and feel safe and loved again. Whoever adopts him is going to get a very special little dog." Louie likes being near his people and part of your day, but he’s not overly demanding or clingy. He’s more of a calm companion than a lap dog—happy to nap nearby, wander the yard, or quietly keep you company. He gets along with respectful dogs who allow him his space and would do best in a peaceful, low-key home environment. He doesn't love being alone for long periods of time, but does well on his own for a few hours. We don't believe Louie is used to going on regular walks, but he has been LOVING them with his foster mom. He does very well on leash. He’s perfectly content getting his exercise and outdoor time by leisurely sniffing and exploring the yard, so daily walks don’t seem necessary for him to be happy. Louie really enjoys spending time outside and would love a home with a secure yard where he can comfortably wander, explore, and do his beloved laps. Louie has stage 2 kidney disease, which is currently very manageable with his prescription kidney diet and regular potty breaks. Because of this, staying hydrated is important, and Louie does a great job with this! Regular potty breaks help him feel his best. Louie is house-trained, but may have an accident if not let out in time. He does a great job of standing at the door to let you know he has to go. The only occasional accidents he’s had with his current foster have happened when no one was home to let him out in time. Otherwise, Louie handles his business in the yard like a pro and seems quite proud of himself when he does. Louie has been great about sleeping through the night, but may occasionally need a middle-of-the-night potty break. It's rare, especially if he goes out right before bed. When he does need to go, he will hop out into the yard, do his business, and then run back inside and right back to bed, where he usually sleeps until his foster mom is up. Car rides make Louie nervous, and he can be vocal while traveling. He would be much happier relaxing at home than tagging along for road trips. Outside of the car, he is a very easygoing little guy. He has a good appetite, loves chicken treats, and is simply a joyful little pup. Louie came to Lil Rascals Rescue when his owners were moved to a long-term care facility. He has diminished vision (mostly outside in bright light), but he gets around very well and can definitely still see—well enough to chase a small lizard! His hearing is fading, though he recognizes certain familiar sounds, especially anything involving the backyard door opening. He appears to have had dental work not too long ago, and it was discovered that he has an oronasal fistula. It does not seem to cause him any discomfort and he currently has no symptoms, but he will need to remain on a soft diet. Due to his age, Lil Rascals has decided not to put him through surgery for the fistula. Louie is looking for a comfortable, quiet, all-adult home where he can enjoy his golden years with people who appreciate a sweet senior dog with an independent spirit and a surprisingly playful side. If you believe you have the perfect home for Louie, please complete an application and tell us more about yourself.May 28, 2026, 9:20 am

Story
Apply to Adopt Me! Meet Chipper, also known as Chippy, a handsome little Chihuahua mix. He’s approximately 12 years old and weighs 10 pounds. Chippy has had a hard and sad start in life, but this boy has been a little trooper, with love and understanding he has conquered most of his fears and is now a happy boy. He gets along with all his siblings, although he doesn’t play with them much. He loves his squeaky toys much better. He is so happy when his foster parents come home he does a little happy dance. He is friendly to visitors, but due to his past, sometimes he needs a slower interaction. If he makes a growling face, he’s saying, I’m uncomfortable. He’s asking for a little space so walk away and he’s fine. He needs that respect. Chippy loves to go on walks, he is fully house trained, and he rides quietly in the car. He sleeps quietly all night in his big cozy bed. Chippy is a happy and quiet boy; he loves to sit next to you and watch TV and get pets and love. He’s beginning to realize that life is good and gets bouncy and happy to be there with you. He’s an absolutely adorable little guy. Just look at that face! Chippy needs an all-adult home with experience with Chihuahua-type dogs to live his best life. He’s waiting for his forever home and really would love to meet you.  If you live in the Central Florida/Orlando area and believe you have the perfect home for Chipper, please complete an app and tell us more about you.  May 28, 2026, 9:20 am

Story
Apply to Adopt Me! Madison, aka Maddie, is an approx. 2yo, 10 1/2-lb. spunky little doxie mix who gets along well with other dogs, kids and adults. We have not seen her around cats. She walks pretty well on a leash with just a bit of pulling, but she corrects easily. Crate training is a work in progress. She sleeps well through the night in the human bed - she wants to be where the other dogs and people are. She rides well in a car tethered in for safety. Maddie is house trained and will go through a doggie door to relieve herself. She loves to play fetch with tennis balls and will play keep away with the other dogs. She loves stuffies but can't have them because she tends to pull the stuffing out. Harder toys are more her style. She is a medium-to-high energy girl and gets the zoomies with her foster fur sibling, so for that reason we are preferring she have a fenced yard. But she also knows how to chill and become a little cuddle bug. If you live in the Central Florida/Orlando area and believe you have the perfect home for Madison, complete and app and tell us more about you.May 28, 2026, 9:20 am
