Story
Dexter is a 4-year-old Chihuahua/Dachshund (chi-weenie) mix weighing approximately 26 pounds. He came to us when his owner died and he was being kept in a tiny cage. He is timid but has come a long way. He loves to play tug of war and he is very strong. He gets along with the other dogs but has not been cat or kid-tested. He is friendly and lovable when he gets to know you. His adoption donation is $250 which includes his neuter, vaccinations, and microchip. He is heartworm-negative and on monthly prevention. He is still grieving for the loss of his owner and home so please help him heal. https://www.aforeverhomeanimalrescue.org/store/p42/Dexter.html We are only able to adopt within the state of Florida. We have a page on our website that explains our adoption process, and contains a link to our adoption application. Here is the link: https://www.aforeverhomeanimalrescue.org/adoption-information.html

Story
Beau is my son's playful two-year-old dog with lots of energy. He was adopted from the Halifax Humane Society in Daytona, Florida in 2025. He is crate and house trained. He has some separation anxiety and is on Trazadone currently due to his owner being gone long hours at work. My son is getting married and moving into a place that does not allow pets. He is heartbroken but also knows Beau deserves a family who can spend time with him, play with him, and love him for the fun-natured boy he is.

Story
Apply to Adopt Me! Max is an approx. 1yo, 14-lb tri-color chihuahua mix. He is an adorable medium-to-high energy young boy with a sweet, expressive face and an irresistible smile. He is equal parts playful puppy and affectionate cuddle bug, always happy to follow his person around the house before curling up beside them—or even falling asleep in their arms. Like any young pup, Max has a mischievous streak and enjoys collecting things to chew on, so he'll need appropriate toys and a watchful eye while he continues learning good puppy manners. He is mostly house trained but may still have the occasional accident as he adjusts to a new home. He is very food motivated, making him a great candidate for positive reinforcement training. Max is also still learning leash skills and will thrive with a patient adopter who can help him build confidence on walks. Max loves toys, especially chew toys and soft squeaky toys, and enjoys running, wrestling, and playing chase with other friendly dogs. He is currently living happily with another young small dog and would likely enjoy a canine playmate. He would also do well as the center of someone's attention, as long as they would be able to socialize him regularly with friends'/relatives' young, playful dogs.  He is curious but non-aggressive with cats. He is fine with kids, but due to his bitey playfulness and puppy energy, it would be best if they were older. He also will grab and chew shoes, socks and pillows - so some training for him would be best. He rides quietly and calmly in the back seat of the car safely tethered in, loves spending time outdoors, and is especially happy stretching out in the sunshine for a good sunbath. This active boy will need a fenced yard to run and play in. At night, Max sleeps comfortably in bed with his person or in his own bed nearby. He has no known medical issues. His foster family loves Max for his adorable smile, funny puppy antics, affectionate personality, and the way he brightens every room with his sweet, charming nature. Story
Apply to Adopt Me! Potatoes, anyone?? Meet Blanket (also affectionately called Spud or Little Man). An 8-yo, 10.2-lb Chi mix with the cutest little bunny bottom who is on his way to an ideal weight of 7-8lbs. Sadly, he was surrendered after his elderly owner was unable to care for him. Blanket is doing well in his foster home and gets along with a same size and larger dog but doesn’t require a companion dog. He does not pay any attention to a cat. He will need time to adapt to a new environment when he finds his new forever home. He approaches for pets, cuddles and joining his person on the couch and will follow foster mom from room to room. He is making progress with his walking on leash, and will need someone to continue that with him. He loves the outdoors, sun bathing and hanging out with the other pups and exploring sights and smells. Blanket is a good eater (hence weight loss agenda), even likes veggies and takes treats gently. He’s house trained, rides nicely in a car safely tethered, crated, sleeps quietly all night in his crate when given his nightly treat. This little boy can be somewhat nervous to be picked up, but allows with gentle assurances and is easy to be bathed. He recently had a dental. He would do best in a quiet home and, if the home has kids, they be older and respectful. This friendly boy will steal your heart with his soulful eyes, sweet kisses and gentle manner. Although showing no interest in toys at first, Blanket now carries a stuffed toy around (for comfort?) while waiting for meals or to go outside. Part of his personality is expressed with his tongue out, evidenced in many pictures. If you live in the Central Florida Orlando area, and believe you have the perfect home for awaiting Blanket, please complete an app and tell us more about you.July 9, 2026, 9:50 pm
