She's an incredibly loving and affectionate young girl with a happy personality and a playful spirit that makes her a joy to have around. At eight months old, Honey is still a young dog with plenty of puppy enthusiasm. She absolutely loves to play and has the energy to keep up with an active family. Walks, games, toys, exploring, and playtime with other dogs are all great ways for her to stay busy and happy. But Honey isn't all go, go, go. Underneath that playful energy is a very affectionate girl who loves connecting with her people. She enjoys attention and companionship and wants to be included as part of the family. Honey is also wonderfully social. She's great with other dogs and friendly with cats, giving her the potential to fit beautifully into a multi-pet household with appropriate introductions. And this smart girl already has some very useful skills! Honey is house-trained and crate-trained. She can relax calmly in her crate for several hours when needed, which can make the transition into a new household much easier. She's also comfortable riding in the car, making her a great candidate for a family that wants a dog who can come along for outings and adventures. As a Feist / Terrier Mix, Honey may share many of the qualities associated with these bright, active little working dogs. Feists and Terriers tend to be intelligent, curious, energetic, and devoted to their people. They enjoy having something to do and benefit from a combination of physical activity and mental stimulation. Honey would thrive with a family that provides: Plenty of affection and companionship Daily walks and regular exercise Lots of interactive play Continued positive reinforcement training Toys, puzzles, and mental enrichment Opportunities to socialize with friendly dogs A consistent household routine Continued reinforcement of her crate and house training Adventures and car rides A safe indoor home where she's included as part of the family A lifelong commitment Honey already has so many qualities families hope to find in a young dog—she's loving, social, playful, house-trained, crate-trained, dog-friendly, cat-friendly, and comfortable in the car. Now she just needs somewhere permanent to call home. Training, Adjustment & What to Expect Honey already has an excellent foundation. Being both house-trained and crate-trained at eight months old is a great start, but she's still young and will benefit from continued training as she moves through adolescence. Even previously house-trained dogs can have occasional accidents when adjusting to a completely new environment, so her adopter should give her time to learn the new household schedule. Please remember the 3-3-3 Rule: 3 Days to decompress and begin feeling safe 3 Weeks to understand her new household routine 3 Months to settle in, build trust, and truly feel at home Honey's energy will need healthy outlets. Daily walks, interactive games, training exercises, sniffing opportunities, puzzle toys, and appropriate play with other dogs can help keep her physically and mentally fulfilled. Her crate should continue to be treated as a safe, positive space, never as punishment. Although Honey can remain calmly crated for several hours, she is an active young dog who needs plenty of exercise, interaction, and companionship when her family is home. Positive reinforcement and consistency will help Honey build on the wonderful foundation she already has. Owner Responsibilities & Veterinary Care Honey is already spayed and fully vaccinated, giving her a great start toward a healthy adult life. Her future family should continue providing: Routine veterinary wellness examinations Vaccinations and boosters as recommended by her veterinarian Flea, tick, heartworm, and parasite prevention Routine dental care A nutritious diet appropriate for her age and activity level Healthy weight management Daily physical exercise Mental stimulation and enrichment Continued positive reinforcement training Continued safe socialization Veterinary care whenever illness or injury occurs A safe, comfortable indoor home At only eight months old, Honey still has some growing and maturing ahead of her. Consistent veterinary care, proper nutrition, regular exercise, and continued training will help her develop into a happy and healthy adult.
