At two years old, Tristan has plenty of energy and enthusiasm for life. He's the kind of dog who will happily join you for a long walk, outdoor adventure, training session, or an afternoon of play. He needs regular activity, but what makes Tristan special is that his energy comes with a dog who listens well and responds to commands. Tristan has experience both on and off leash and does well following direction. His future family should continue reinforcing these skills and always use appropriate safety precautions, particularly in new or unsecured environments. His intelligence makes him a great candidate for continued obedience training and activities that challenge him mentally as well as physically. He's also a very social boy. Tristan is friendly with people and other dogs, making him a wonderful candidate for a family looking for an outgoing companion. He enjoys interaction and would love a home where he can be included in everyday activities rather than spending most of his time alone. As a Feist / Terrier Mix, Tristan comes from energetic and intelligent breed types. Feists were traditionally bred as active working dogs and are often alert, athletic, curious, and devoted to their people. Terriers share many of those same qualities, including intelligence, confidence, and determination. For Tristan, that means a bored life probably isn't the right life. He'll be happiest with people who enjoy staying active and giving him opportunities to use his brain. Tristan would thrive in a home that provides: Daily walks and regular physical exercise Outdoor adventures and active play Continued obedience training Positive reinforcement and consistent commands Interactive toys, puzzles, and mental enrichment Opportunities to socialize with friendly dogs Plenty of companionship and affection Consistent household routines and boundaries A safe indoor home where he's included as part of the family A lifelong commitment Tristan already has so many of the qualities people hope to find in a dog—friendly, intelligent, social, trainable, and eager to participate in life. Now he just needs someone to share that life with. Training, Adjustment & What to Expect Tristan already has a good training foundation and responds well to commands, but training should continue after adoption. Moving into a new home means learning new people, boundaries, routines, and expectations. Even dogs with excellent training may need reminders while adjusting to a different environment. Please remember the 3-3-3 Rule: 3 Days to decompress and begin feeling safe 3 Weeks to understand his new household routine 3 Months to settle in, build trust, and truly feel at home Because Tristan is high energy, daily physical exercise will be important. However, exercise alone isn't enough for a smart dog. Training games, scent work, puzzle toys, exploring new places, and learning new commands can help keep his mind busy as well. Although Tristan has demonstrated good off-leash skills, his adopter should not assume that recall will immediately transfer to a new person or environment. A secure leash or fenced area should be used while trust and reliable recall are established with his new family. Positive reinforcement and consistency will help Tristan continue building on the great foundation he already has. Owner Responsibilities & Veterinary Care Tristan has received his DHPP vaccination and has been dewormed. His neuter is currently pending, and he is not yet microchipped. His future family should continue providing: Neutering as scheduled Microchipping and registration Routine veterinary wellness examinations Any additional vaccinations or boosters recommended by his veterinarian Rabies vaccination if not already completed Flea, tick, heartworm, and parasite prevention Routine dental care A nutritious, balanced diet Healthy weight management Daily physical exercise Mental stimulation and enrichment Continued positive reinforcement training Veterinary care whenever illness or injury occurs A safe, comfortable indoor home At only two years old, Tristan has many active years ahead of him. Consistent veterinary care, exercise, good nutrition, and mental stimulation will help keep him healthy and happy throughout his life.
