Story
Adoption Fee: $475 When available, all animals are fixed in accordance with Colorado law, up to date on vaccines (may need boosters), and microchipped! What we know: Transferred in from Aurora Animal Shelter, two 6wk puppies, females. Had a seizure episode on 12/26 and will need cause determined and spay before available for adoption. Check back for update. *Tipsy has a neurological specialist appointment on 1/14 to determine cause of seizure before spay. Depending on how that appointment goes, these sisters will likely be spayed the week of 1/18. Potential available date 1/24 but no guarantees.* UPDATE: the cause of Tipsy's seizure at 6 weeks old was never determined, and she has not had any further complications. Her neurologist advised that she should avoid jolting movements while on her back during spay; no additional ongoing neurological follow-up. From the foster: Tipsy is a sweet and very special soul who will need on-going support, care, and love. She is a very happy puppy who loves all people and pups. She is that annoying little sister who wants to be with the "big dogs" and sometimes needs reminders to give them space. She redirects well. Tipsy has a few unique needs and her new furever family will need to do what they can to continue to support her. She can run and play, yet her gait is still a little stiff in her front legs. The neurologist calls it "toy soldier" walk. She also sometimes has a tricky time with spatial awareness (not sure what is neuro and what is puppy) and cannot descend stairs consistently yet (she's trying) or jump from high places. She has not had any seizures the 6 weeks she has been with us. She can run, walk, and loves to play. She seems to be getting better with balance, gait, and strength as she grows. She is very friendly to all ages of people and pups. Noises still surprise her and she tends to run back to me when unsure. She has tried walking on a leash with a harness and continues to get the hang of it. She is learning potty training and will go outside or on reusable pads. She also still has accidents. She is treat motivated and has learned sit already. She loves to eat and drink. She plays well independently and has been sleeping in a crated space (crate connected to open potty area). She goes to bed easily with a kong filled with kibble. Tipsy is a one of a kind love and with continued support she will thrive. She loves her humans and has the best look into your soul eyes, wavy soft fur, and a black tongue. Everyone who meets her loves her and we hope you will too. *Due to her unique needs additional questions/adopter requirements may be required www.coloradopuppy.org/how-to-adopt
