Story
Hi there. My name is DASH (Boris) and here is a little info about me:Breed: Flat Coated Retriever mixAge: 2 years oldGender: MaleWeight: 28 kgHeight: 47 cmHighlights: gentle, outgoing, friendly, social, watchful Despite my hardships growing up, I possess a gentle spirit and a pair of soulful eyes that speak of resilience.I had a rough start. Born on the streets of Turkey, I had to learn to survive. My days were filled with scavenging for food, avoiding larger dogs, and seeking shelter in hidden corners. I used to live on a university campus and was a community dog. However, it did not take long before university management started to collect all dogs and put them in a municipal shelter, which is simply a death sentence for a dog here. My community of volunteers didn’t let this happen and placed me into a boarding facility.Known for my friendly and outgoing nature, I form strong bonds with my peeps. I am often eager to please. With my glossy coat and playful demeanour, I will become a beloved member of your family, capturing the hearts of everyone in your home. This social butterfly thrives on human interaction and I am always eager to make new friends. My warm, expressive eyes reflect my affectionate nature, and my tail wags enthusiastically at the sight of anyone willing to give me attention. I am highly food-motivated. This can be an advantage in training. I can be influenced by other dogs’ temperaments, so I would be a good companion to a calm dog with a proper introduction. https://youtu.be/MEMyoAgcpt0.Despite my friendly nature, I harbour a peculiar aversion to men wearing hats. I know, kinda strange, hunh? It's a mystery to everyone, as I react with a mixture of curiosity and caution whenever I encounter someone sporting a hat. In addition, in addition, I may exhibit a sense of loyalty that makes me watchful over my loved ones. You will find me playful and entertaining. I love to play, run, and engage in various activities. Regular exercise is essential to keep me happy. I do know how to walk on leash: https://youtu.be/nFyYiib-eC4. Car rides are ever so fun:  https://youtu.be/DGT3vJ-thJENo idea how I am around kids and cats, I've never interacted with them. If you plan to adopt a dog for the first time or you are not an experienced dog owner, you should consider working with a trainer, as this bud has stayed in a boarding house for a long time and forgotten the city life manners. But here I am with a buddy:  http://https:\\youtu.be/DZ--QRmwFa0.Waiting for you to click that adopt button that gets me winging your way for loves and licks. LALDR does not have access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person adopting them and the environment in which they live. Please Note: LALDR highly encourages adopters to research some local dog trainers before their dog arrives. Although a 1-on-1 trainer is often not needed, it is good to have someone in mind in case any problematic behaviours arise. Most bad behaviours can be modified if caught early enough, so make sure to nip undesirable behaviours in the bud before they become serious problems.Basic training should be taken seriously, but should not begin until your dog is well settled in - at least a couple of weeks. After you feel your new dog is relaxed and comfortable in their new home, check out training courses in your local area. Even basic beginner courses like those taught at a local pet store can have a huge benefit in helping your dog learn to socialize and get used to being in public situations, all with the added benefit of strengthening their bond with you. While most dogs find escorting passengers flying directly to Vancouver, some will find flights through Toronto or  Montreal. In that case, additional fees will apply to fly your dog to Vancouver by cargo. Unaccompanied cargo costs within Canada range from $350 - $550 depending on the size of the dog. LALDR will be as transparent as possible with you regarding these costs. The age and breed of a dog is usually an educated guess, so we are not able to guarantee the accuracy of age or breed of our dogs. Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. However if a dog has been determined to be good with children we will approve applicants with children 8 years or older. More information can be found on our website. [MID-EAST] *Vaccinations: Dogs from the Middle East are vaccinated for rabies, parvo, distemper, leptospirosis, adenovirus type 1 and para-influenza. Bordetella is not given, as that has not been a problem in the Middle East. [TURKEY] *Dogs receive 4D SNAP tests - which include: Heartworm, Ehrlichiosis, Leishmania and Anaplasmosis. ##1913656##

Story
Greetings fine peeps. My name is BASIL (Pepper) and here's some info about me:Breed: Flat Coated RetrieverAge: 4 yearsGender: FemaleWeight: 29-1/2 kgHeight:  61 cm Loyalty and Intelligence are my hallmark traits, as you will see in a moment reading my story.Under my rescuer's care, I was then adopted by a family. Sadly, my adopted family faced many legal problems with their neighbors for owning a dog inside their apartment, ss is typical here in Lebanon. In the end, they were faced with an ultimatum; change homes or return me back to the facility. So, I was returned and have been with them now since February 2022.An interesting story about me (here's the amazing part I mentioned) is that I saved the family’s youngest son from being run over by a car! I was out on a walk with my adopted family when a car drifted by and almost hit the youngest member of my family. Luckily, I recognized the threat in time and was quick on my paws. I caught the boy by his shirt’s collar and dragged him aside, making me the family’s hero! To me, I was just doing the job a dog should be doing.I'm a clever girl, who will happily show you my obedient side. Being an affectionate pupper, you'll find me by your side ready for love, giving and getting.Since I am still a playful dog: https://youtu.be/7HKTEpiS_20, who gets along great with other dogs and who LOVES to swim, I sure hope we'll be able to include some trips to the river, lakes and/or beaches. A kiddie pool would be fun too. We can have such great adventures together... side by side, becoming bffs. Story
THE UNLIKELY DUO: 'Boo' the Shar Pei and 'Pickle's the Flat Coated Retriever! These two dogs found each other in the unlikeliest of places-a shelter. They formed an inseparable bond from the moment they met becoming BFF's. Pickles has had a tough start to life with a background of uncertainty and insecurity. Having lived in an outdoor pit of his own filth, he was never socialized with humans and therefore struggled with confidence and trust. Staff have been working patiently and tirelessly on developing his confidence around new people and experiences and knew he needed someone patient and understanding to help him blossom. That someone turned out to be Boo. Her playful antics and boundless energy brought joy not only to Pickles but also the staff and volunteers who witnessed their friendship unfold. Whether they were engaged in a game of chase or simply chilling together, their presence was a source of entertainment. Boo has a big, quirky personality in a small package. Boo arrived with a severe skin condition that is being managed through diet and baths and will likely need to be continued for the rest of her life. Boo is usually quite confident but in certain situations, she can get a little nervous. She knows when to seek out a quiet spot if she needs a break. Neither dog would be suitable for young children.Pickles is still learning to trust people but has been accepting and seeking out pets. Learning to walk on a leash is still something that will have to be worked on. We have been introducing a harness to him and he has shown us just how much he has progressed. Pickles loves toys, especially squeaky toys, and can be very playful! He is very silly and loves to play with his shelter bestie, Boo. Each and everyday he gets a little braver and his personality shines. He is a retriever after all and has that silly personality where everything should go in his mouth. Toys, blankets the occasional broom lol! Ideally, Pickles and Boo would be adopted together. Boo has really shown Pickles how to be a dog and that it is okay to trust people. The two of them have become very close and spend their days by each other's side. We recognize this is a big ask due to their different needs, but we think a home together would be what is best for both of them. Primary Color: Black Weight: 23.6 Age: 1yrs 0mths 0wks

*PLEASE READ - BY APPOINTMENT ONLY*Meet Louie!Louie has had a tough start to life with a background of uncertainty and insecurity. Having lived in an outdoor pit of his own filth, he was not socialized with humans and therefore struggles with confidence and trust. Staff have been working patiently and tirelessly on developing his confidence around new people and experiences. Louie is still learning to trust people and is learning to accept pets, although he enjoys having human company, even if it is just sitting near him in the yard. Learning to seek out pets and walking on a leash is still something that will need work with patient and understanding adopters. Louie enjoys having another canine keeping him company, and is confident when he has his brother Lincoln around. Louie could go to a home with Lincoln, or another confident and patient canine friend who can help him flourish. Louie can be shy when meeting new dogs at first and will need a slow and proper introduction to make sure things go smoothly. Although having a friend would be beneficial, he may also do well in a home as the sole dog, given his adopters are able to commit time to work on gaining his trust and building a bond. Due to his nervousness and shyness with new people, it is preferred for potential adopters to meet him at least twice in shelter and establish a good enough relationship before bringing him home. As he is still quite shy, a calm and quiet home with no young children is ideal.Louie loves toys, especially squeaky toys, and can be very playful! He loves investigating new toys and dragging them around. He loves treats and can be vocal when demanding more. Each and every day he gets a little braver and his personality shines. He is a retriever after all and has that silly personality where everything should go in his mouth. Louie enjoys water and sometimes takes a dip in his outdoor pool. Since Louie has lived outdoors his whole life, he is still not quite used to living indoors. His new home would need to have a fully enclosed outdoor area for him to stay in while he adjusts to indoor life. 💙🐾Do you think you could be Louie's person? Story
Bettie is a dream! She is potty trained, crate trained, smart, mature, great with other dogs and great with kids and adults. You can check out her video to see her full personality and how innocent she is with people. She rolls on her back for belly rubs and seems very respectful around kids. She lives in a foster home with a lot of activity going on with kids coming in and out and a lot of other dogs. She does really well and she’s a pleasure to have around. She is like a big baby, loves to give kisses and show affection. She walks around greeting people with her tail wagging. Bettie knows how to sit on command and is working on “lay”. She loads up in the car and loves to go for rides. She is about 77 lbs and approx 2 years old. We cannot be sure of her age or breed since she is a rescue. She does like stuffie toys. She is a joyful girl all the time. She has an easy going personality, she’s easy on leash, and she doesn’t try to run away at her foster home. She plays with a lot of large dogs at the foster home and has no issues. She has a loving personality, loves to be pet and snuggle up next to you. She stays in a crate quietly overnight and goes out to potty in the morning. She is very well behaved at the vet too, she is trusting of people. We love her sweet, trusting personality. She is not defensive with people or other dogs. She loads up in the car on her own, walks next to you on leash, and makes it easy to have her around especially with her large size. She’s been amazing with the kids at the foster home! She loves everyone. During her cat test she did not display a desire to attack but did act interested so we think she may chase a cat. Her play style with other dogs is bouncy and she acts like the play group queen. You can see videos of it in her adoption movie. She chases and romps in the yard, she’s easy to get along with. You can see her play style and her full personality in her adoption video! Your adoption fee is considered a donation towards actual costs. Why adopt from Three Little Pitties? The stray and animal overpopulation in the Greater Houston area is the highest in the nation. Statistics show that there are over 1 million homeless animals in this region alone. Three Little Pitties Rescue is a nonprofit dog and cat rescue that partners with the community to make a difference. Our mission is to reduce the homeless pet population through community outreach, free spay and neuter services, and saving all breeds of dogs and cats from the streets or animal shelters that oftentimes have no other option but to euthanize animals for space. This dog you’ve found online is lucky to be in our program, and even luckier to have you notice it! Three Little Pitties wants to set you and your new pet up for success! We know our dogs and we work hard to prepare them socially for adoption. We are a network of dedicated people who are heavily invested in seeing our animals thrive. From the moment they are accepted into our program, our Intake, Behavior & Medical teams prepare them for adoption by properly vetting, behaviorally assessing, and providing customized plans depending on the dog’s needs. We provide weekly socialization programs for our dogs through playgroups and group leash training classes available to all dogs in our adoption program, and Doggy Sleepover, Doggy Day Out, and Ambassador programs for our boarding dogs. There is a professional dog trainer on staff to provide support for our fosters and dogs, and an off-site dog trainer for dogs that need more extensive behavior modification. This helps us learn deeply about every dog, prepare them for adoption, and ultimately match them with loving families. We seek to adopt to families who understand that these are rescue dogs and will require continued training efforts, but will be well on their way to being the best dogs that they can be! It doesn’t stop there! Our adopters also receive these special perks: • A free private online dog training session with GoodPup plus low pricing for future sessions (approx $25 weekly for an 8 week course of one session per week) • One free bonus toy in every BarkBox when signing up for their Super Chewer subscription plan • 25% off of your first order of Fetch, a PNW based, organic fresh dog food loaf meal subscription plan • Coupons for a fun visit to Petco • Access to our exclusive FB Adopters page, where you can network for play dates, resources, and connect with other adopters that share their passion for their adopted pup! We celebrated our 5 year anniversary this year! Through the combined efforts of all of our hardworking staff and volunteers, we have placed over 12,000 very lucky dogs and cats into amazing homes! By adopting from us, you save TWO lives! The pet you adopt, and you create an opportunity for another animal to be saved in that spot. Together, we can be heroes. Story
Hi, my name is Soba (Nono.) I am a 4 year old female labrador/Border Collie cross (best guess from my appearance). I have been in Canada (Greater Vancouver) for 3 years but, due to life circumstances of my adopter, he is unable to keep me. I am a loving dog who really enjoys being with my humans. I can be a bit vocal when I meet dogs on walks but I know I can learn some different greeting skills! After all, I'm part border collie and they can learn marvelous things! Please, please, come and meet me. You'll see what a great dog I am. I have recently been having a few knee problems which may need some help from a vet but you can find out more about this from my rehoming adopter. Whatever is the issue, it's not slowing me down much.  I  once had a family in the Middle East who actually rescued me from the street when I was just a month old. But they had to give me to the shelter for protection because someone called the police and they wanted to take me away. You see dogs are illegal to own here and quite often dogs are ripped away from our families and killed. I was lucky to be loved enough to be put in a shelter and not just thrown on the street. Even though I am safe from the police, life in a shelter can be very rough for some dogs. I am one of those dogs. I am a very sweet and loving dog and some of the other dogs see me a weak and are starting to attack me. I am so very scared so I would really love to get into another home quickly. I am not used to shelter life and I am getting very depressed. I really am a great dog. I am very smart and kind. I try hard to be friends with the other dogs here and I really do want to be friends and thankfully some of them are nice with me. I am loving with my human caretakers and I would love to be in a home, any home really. I would love to go on long walks and have playtime in the dog park too. I do have an advantage over some of the other dogs here in Iran because I actually did live in a home so I have an idea of how that is. I should make an easy transition into my new life. So as you see I urgently need to get our of the shelter before I get hurt by the other dogs. I am looking so forward to my new life in Canada all curled up and cozy in your home.   I am spayed, vaccinated and micro-chipped    My adoption fee is $500.00    please see our adoption guidelines at www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca   nono/fariba   ##204543##

Story
**Currently fostered at Okanagan, BC **Hello my name is Brodie and here is some information about me:  Brodie: 3 yrs - 28 kg - Male neutered - Shepherd mix - Good with cats – Good with dogs - House trained (maybe a couple of accidents in a new home at first) - He is skittish at first and needs time to gain trust - Only barks when very excited - Medium energy level - Good on leash but sometimes pulls when he is afraid - Healthy - When he was a 1 month old puppy, he was rescued from the street and kept in a home and once he got bigger, he was surrendered to a shelter in the Middle East. Please Note: LALDR highly encourages adopters to research some local dog trainers before their dog arrives. Although a 1-on-1 trainer is often not needed, it is good to have someone in mind in case any problematic behaviours arise. Most bad behaviours can be modified if caught early enough, so make sure to nip undesirable behaviours in the bud before they become serious problems! Basic training should be taken seriously and should begin within a few days after arrival. After your dog has settled in, check out courses in your local area. Even basic beginner courses like those taught at a local pet store can have a huge benefit in helping your dog learn to socialize and get used to being in public situations, all with the added benefit of strengthening their bond with you. I have been spayed/neutered, *vaccinated & micro-chipped My adoption fee is $800.00 CAD + applicable taxes Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue.Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. LALDR does not have access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person adopting them and the environment in which they live. The age and breed of a dog is usually an educated guess, so we are not able to guarantee the accuracy of age or breed of our dogs.Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. More information can be found on our website.Vaccinations: Dogs from the Middle East are vaccinated for rabies, parvo, distemper, leptospirosis, adenovirus type 1 and para-influenza. Bordetella is not given, as that has not been a problem in the Middle East. ##1511836##
