Story
About Me   Age:  8 years old....Hi, my name is Carter and I would love to be your one and only BEST friend. I love my hoomans! My perfect life would have adults and older teens to hang out with who take me on walks, short hikes or jogs, watch me explore the outdoors and chase lizards in the yard, enjoy my frequent grateful kisses or just have me accompany you around the house. My nickname could be “Shadow”. I’m perfect in the home: house broken, attentive, impeccable manners, I will bark to alert at the door and keep small critters at bay. In the beginning, I will be laying right up next to your chair but as I settle in, I will give you space and lay where I can see you move about the house. I’m so loving and sweet, I will give your arm a nice bump if you haven’t pet me enough. I know the commands “sit”, “down”, “up” and “heel” and I’m learning to “wait”. I love to sniff and run free in the yard, as long as my human is outside with me. I’m great in the car. I like both my foster parents and their college/young adults who were home for the holidays. I am very affectionate and have plenty of love to share, offering my belly for rubs, occasionally jumping up on the couch for a momentary pet before settling back on the floor at your feet and sneaking quick naps during the day. I’m smart and eager to learn; I settled into my new routines quickly and I’m ready for my meals, meds, walks and playtime whenever they are offered. I’m patient and undemanding, happy to mold myself to your timetable, starting my day when you do, but when I see you getting my leash ready, my eyes shine, my butt wiggles and my tail swishes. A few things do make me nervous – young kids in the home as well as other dogs in general. I would prefer not to interact with either in the home. I walk beautifully by my human’s side and love to be out but when I see dogs, I need a physically capable handler to help me work through my feelings and provide the space for me to feel safe.I’m not a dog park or dog beach kinda dog but what I lack in appreciation for other dogs, I make up tenfold in my love for calm, adult humans. I’m on a special diet for crystals in my urine and a medication to take the edge off some general stress but don’t worry, I come with lots of love and a heart full of gratitude for the right person who can provide me with a peaceful and loving home.  My Ideal Home   Carter’s ideal home would be a young or retired couple or an individual living in a quieter neighborhood. He would like to be the center of your universe – your one and only pet. He needs a physically strong handler for walks in nature or hikes or even short jogs in the early morning air. Carter would also love a yard so he has the opportunity for some free, off leash time. No kids, small critters or other dogs. Story
Meet Mahomes! Mahomes is an incredible little flat-coated retriever pup. He was found as a stray in the high desert and we were alerted to him before he was taken to the shelter, and we're glad we got him! This boy is the sweetest, gentlest and friendliest pup around. While timid at first, he just rolls on to his back to greet new people. Mahomes would do amazingly in a home with lots of love and attention and an active partner to keep him happy!

Story
Meet Kelce! Kelce is a super sweet flat-coated and Labrador retriever mix. While timid at first, there isn't a bad bone in this beauty's body! His incredible coat is black on top and a stunning blonde underneath - he's truly unique! He has a very calming and friendly presence that's sure to make anyone swoon. He was found roaming the high desert streets so we took him in before he could end up in the shelter and we're so glad we did. He's an incredible dog with so much life left to live!

Meet Wolfie! Wolfie is an energetic, fun-loving, flat haired retriever! His family absolutely adore him but are running into some issues with him due to his high energy and their young kids! Wolfie is blind and so faces some daily difficulty due to that, but nothing that he isn't handling like a champ! He is currently going through training with his family to see if they can make it work but they want to get a jump start on finding him his perfect forever home.

Story
Hi my name is Chico and I am an apx 3 year old Flat Coated Retriever/Border Collie mix. Sadly, I found myself at the Baldwin Park Shelter win my homeless owner gave me and my friend Oreo (who had been adopted). I am good with other dogs and an all around happy guy. I love to play with my favorite plastic ball too! I will even walk you sometimes I forgot to mention that I absolutely love the water too! If you've ever wanted a water loving dog, I'm your guy!!! Little did my rescue know when they saved me and Oreo, is that I have congential corneal dermoids that require expensive surgery by an eye specialist. My rescue mom took me in to find out what is needed and she is/has been working on raising funds for my much needed $4500 eye surgery before these corneal dermoids do even more damage to my inner eyes. The eye specialist not only needs to remove the dermoids, he also needs to reconstruct the inner eye. I'm just so grateful that Delaney's Dog mission is to help dogs who need help most and that they didn't turn their back on me and let my young life end at that scary, deadly Baldwin Park kill shelter where I saw so many dogs leave their overcrowded and dirty kennels to never return.  I was next in line to lose my life until my rescue hero mom came for me.   I am currently seeking a foster to adopt home while rescue continues efforts to raise money to help my poor eyes. It has been a long and rough battle for them trying to raise funds but they have promised that they will not give up on me.   If you can foster me, or donate to my surgery, we would be so grateful. I really want to be in a home again. Could you help me?  ##1484630##
