Story
Hii, I'm Kendall! I'm about 7 years old and I came in with my sister Kylie. We were found as strays and we were very skinny. The shelter got us all cleaned up and got our bellies full. I'd like to stay with my sister Kylie if we could, but I will be fine without her too. I'm a sweet and gentle girl. I get along with other dogs and I'm a friend to every person I meet. Even though I'm only 7 I have what they call an "old soul". I am always ready for a snack (or two lol) and can't wait to be your girl. You can't say no to these ears!! I am heartworm positive and in the process of heartworm treatment. I've had my first injection and will need an adopter who can continue my heartworm treatment protocol and take me to my appointments. PCHS will pay for the treatment even after adoption.  If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to reserve me for an appointment. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and St. Louis areas twice monthly. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual. We will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports to Colorado and Iowa, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). For transports to St. Louis, the additional fee is $50 to help cover gas. Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! All of our pets are neutered or spayed, have vaccinations appropriate for their age, treated with flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormed and dogs are also microchipped. #adoptdontshop ##2470141##

He is working on his place command, knows sit and stay very well. Jid can be a bit much sometimes when he gets super excited and gets a little mouthy, so this training is added that structure he needs to know what is expected of him. He is super playful and dog-friendly! He has done great at adoption events. House trained, crate trained, and loves dogs and people for sure! Very playful and makes silly faces :) He can be a bit much sometimes and gets a little too rough with jumping and getting mouthy. Things we are working on in training. He does okay around other dogs in our group training class, but we have not let him come up to them or engage in play sessions. With his current foster, he's only been around teenagers and that's good for him. They help him get his energy out with games of tug of war and fetch while being big enough to handle him if he gets jumpy. This love bug hates his crate......throws a tantrum like a 2-year-old. We're also working on this in training. Loves being outside and is constantly going in and out through the doggy door to see what the neighbor dogs are up to. Story
Elsie is a sweet 9 year old black lab. We got her when she was about 1 year old from a family member who couldn’t care for her and neglected her needs. She is very friendly and loves to cuddle. She is not gentle around babies and she gets anxious around young children so she needs a home with older kids or just adults with no other dogs. She does fine with cats and doesn’t seem to mind them. She has an incontinence issue that is managed fine with medications but is potty trained otherwise. We need someone who can give her the attention we cannot. She's a sweet girl and we love her dearly, we want the best for her for the remainder of her life
