Meet Cosmo This adorable guy has the spunk and spirit of a typical pup. His mom was unfortunately run over and he had to have a little help being bottle fed until able to eat on his own. You would not know it by looking at him or in his glowing personality. Cosmo is always up for a romp during playtime. He is also one of the sweetest snugglers. Cosmo has grown to adoption age in the same wonderful household and his foster mom would love to give you all the details on his daily life. Cosmo is well socialized and would do great in a home with or without dogs and/or with or without children. If you are looking for a dedicated family companion, you can’t go wrong with this cutie. Once adopted, Cosmo will transport with Rescue Vet Transport to his new forever family (additional $185). If you would like to give him a life time of belly rubs please follow the link below to our adoption application. Please note, our volunteer team works very hard and they are very responsive so please submit your application only when you are ready to welcome your new furry friend. https://forms.gle/APKvbgFJcaRvgKgk9

Story
Goliath is everything his name promises — big, bold, and full of heart — and starting with the letter “G” couldn’t be more fitting! This 5–6-month-old black Lab mix currently weighs 33 lbs and GROWING, and he’s every bit the goofy, good-natured “toddler” you’d expect. Goliath is curious about everything and loves to get into a little harmless mischief in the name of fun! He’s a true Lab at heart — happiest when carrying his leash or proudly trotting along on walks, often stopping to find the perfect stick. He walks beautifully on leash with tail-wagging pride and pure joy. Goliath has already learned to sit, is crate-trained, loves a good game of fetch, and never tires of “organizing” (a.k.a. emptying) his toy basket. Despite his size, he’s incredibly gentle, endlessly loving, and, of course, wonderfully GOOFY. He may look full grown, but don’t be fooled — he’s still just a big baby who’s ready to learn, love, and grow with his forever family. If you’re looking for a loyal, silly, and affectionate companion who’ll bring laughter and warmth into your life, Goliath is your guy I f you are interested in adopting/meeting this pup , please complete our online adoption application that you can find here: https://www.starfishanimalrescue.com/adopt/dog-adoption-application  . Your application will be reviewed by our team and if it is a good fit, we will send to the foster family to set up a meet! The adoption fee of $550 will include spay/neuter, microchip, age appropriate/required vaccinations, treatment for heartworm and any other necessary medical treatment to assure a healthy new pup for your family. IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER: Although we do our best to describe breed, since our pups all come from shelters we can not and will not make any guarantee on breed or size. We can tell you that they are 100% RESCUED! And that is the BEST breed! *please note that we are a foster home based rescue and we do home visits as part of the adoption process - we are unable to adopt to families who live outside of the Chicago and surrounding suburbs. Thank you for your understanding.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.January 2, 2026, 11:41 am

Story
Meet Violet — Your Velcro Shadow Dog Violet is sweet, gentle , goofy, and endlessly loyal 1 1/2 -year-old mutt (45 lbs of pure love!) who’s ready to be someone’s ride-or-die cuddle buddy.  Violet may look like “just another black dog” to some people, but spend even five minutes with her, and you’ll wonder how anyone could overlook her. She’s the kind of dog who bonds deeply, loves fiercely, and is happiest when she’s right by your side. Violet is a true velcro dog — if you’re going to the couch, she’s there. Heading to the kitchen, she’s behind you. Thinking about a car ride, walk, or adventure? She’s already at the door. Violet is searching for her person — someone who wants a loyal companion who will go everywhere with them. She doesn’t need anything fancy; she just wants to belong. She wants to be the dog who finally gets chosen, even though so many dogs look like her. What makes Violet special isn’t her color or her size — it’s her heart. Violet is housebroken and does great when allowed to roam freely, but crates? Not her thing. She’s looking for a home with older kids (she’s got some serious bounce!) and a securely fenced yard to keep her safe. She loves walks but needs a bit of leash training, and she’ll need someone who’s home often—this girl thrives on companionship. She’s friendly with other dogs, but what she truly longs for is her own human, where she can be the only dog.  She’s spayed, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, and ready to find her forever person. Her adoption fee is $150, and she’s currently snuggling her way through foster life in Crown Point, Indiana.   ##2374629##

Story
Meet Elliot — A Gentle Soul Looking for Peace and Belonging Elliot is a Lab mix who will be 7 years old this February. He was adopted as a puppy and spent his life with one loving owner — until recently, when she moved into assisted living and had to surrender him to us. Elliot is grieving. He’s quiet, gentle, and deeply sensitive, and he’s trying to make sense of a world that suddenly feels unfamiliar. Now in a foster home in Fort Wayne, Elliot is doing his best. He’s living with another dog, but we’ve learned that unfamiliar dogs make him nervous. He grew up with one canine companion, but new dogs overwhelm him. When he’s unsure or uncomfortable, Elliot quietly removes himself — curling up in a corner or retreating to another room. He’s not reactive. He’s just tender-hearted. Elliot would thrive in a calm, quiet home without other dogs, ideally with a retired adopter who enjoys a slow-paced lifestyle. He does like children, but he can become overwhelmed if they live with him full-time.  He loves going for walks, and he is overweight at around 70lbs, however he’s steadily losing weight on his lowcalorie diet. He’s a truly good boy — calm, wellmannered, and full of gentle affection. What Elliot needs most is stability. A soft place to land. A person who will let him grieve, adjust, and rediscover joy at his own pace. He’s not looking for excitement — he’s looking for home. If you’re someone who values peace, companionship, and the quiet loyalty of a dog who just wants to be near you, Elliot might be your heart dog. He is looking for a retired adopter who is still active and loves to take Leisurely walks around the neighborhood. There is no adoption fee; however, we are looking for experienced adopters with a solid veterinary history and references. Please put in an application on our website at www.indianasaveadog.com.  NOTES AND NEEDS: My Personality is described as : Calm, Submissive, Friendly I am housebroken: Yes Good with other dogs: Yes, submissive and friendly dogs like me; however, I need a home without another dog. Good with cats: Yes Spayed/Neutered, Vaccinated, Microchipped: Good on a Leash: Yes  NO DOG PARKS We prefer a fenced yard. However, we may consider exceptions on a case-by-case basis if you live in a condo where all dogs are walked on a leash. No immediate health issues Elliot is being fostered in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Applicants must reside within one hour's drive of Fort Wayne. ##429190##

Story
HONEY is a 7-year-old F1B Goldendoodle who was rescued from a puppy mill. We have had her for five and a half years, and she is considered one of our Sanctuary Dogs, meaning she could potentially stay with us for life. However, if she finds the right adoptive home, that would be wonderful. Honey tends to bond more easily with women than with men. She would thrive as the only dog in the household since she craves attention and companionship. When she first arrived, Honey was terrified of humans, but her fear has gradually diminished. Once she forms a bond with someone, she becomes the sweetest and most lovable dog to them. Like others in our sanctuary, Honey is not a social butterfly and is unlikely to become one. Honey receives grooming every two months and rides well in the car. While she can walk on a leash to the groomer, she is somewhat afraid of it. Daily leash walks may not be feasible for her due to her fear. What she truly needs is a safe backyard and a loving home. If you go on vacation, it's important to have a dog sitter come to your home, as she does not handle trips or boarding well. Honey has become somewhat protective of her people. When guests arrive, she tends to keep her distance, but there have been instances where she nipped at a stranger's ankles if they turned their back, then quickly ran away. We believe this behavior is her way of trying to protect us. It has never escalated beyond a nip and does not occur with everyone. It's best to introduce her to your guests using treats or to keep her in another room during visits. Due to the possibility of nipping, Honey would do best in a home without children. Additionally, she should be the only pet, as she is the alpha dog in her foster home and has shown signs of growling at other dogs. She does not engage in play with them; her priority is her people. With all that being said, she is the most lovable dog with us.  Honey is calm and has no anxiety issues. She can be trusted to free roam the house without a crate and will not chew or get into things. She is very well-behaved. To adopt Honey, you need a secure, fenced-in yard and someone home during the day. Potential adopters must be located within one hour of Northwest Indiana. Honey is vaccinated, spayed, and microchipped. Her adoption fee is $100.  ##2057193##
