Story
Lyla is a very affectionate Golden Retriever mix who was born in December of 2018. This girl is looking for a new home with no children.  Lyla does get along with other dogs but because she does NOT like to share her food or toys, she needs to be an only dog.  Lyla LOVES to spend time outside on nice days so a fenced yard is a must! Lyla has made a lot of progress in foster care.  She does still guard high value objects on occasion, but she is easily persuaded to drop the item if a treat is involved!  Lyla is very loyal and loves human attention to the point she sometimes has to be told to go lay down.  She loves car rides and is very well behaved in a car or in the house.  The ideal home for Lyla would be an adult only home with no other pets.  If Lya has to work on anything it would be walking on a leash because she gets so excited to explore new places that she does pull.  But with a bit of free training from Muddy Paws, we are sure she can be loose leash walking in no time! Lyla is a bit chubby so does need to be on a lower calorie kibble and exercised/walked daily.  But she just celebrated a 25 pound weight loss over the past 10 months!   Lyla is very attached to her foster mom, so will require a few visits to transition her into her new home. Lyla was recently diagnosed with Addisons Disease caused by decreased hormone production from the outer part or cortex of the adrenal gland.  She is on prednisone daily which costs about $20 per month.  There is a good likelyhood that in the future she may require a shot every 25 days, which can be given at home or by a vet.  This medication is estimated to run around $100 per month. The suggested adoption donation for Lyla is $365, which is TAX DEDUCTIBLE, and goes toward providing supportive services to animals in the home, as well as the high cost of vetting our dogs in rescue.  If you would like to welcome Lyla into your home, please begin by submitting our Adoption Application.  The adoptions for all of our dogs will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver the dogs.  If you would like to learn more about Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue, or donate to our dogs, please visit our website at MuddyPawsSecondChanceRescue.com.  We invite you to visit our Facebook Page, and when you visit, please don't forget to Like our Facebook page so that you won’t miss any information about our dogs and events! ##445685##

Story
Hey! Danny (DOB 9/21/2020) here! I am Lab/Staffordshire Terrier mix who's looking for a new, active home. I have been with my foster family for a while and whereas they are pretty wonderful, I am ready to leave the nest and find my own place. I am almost 3 years old now and have outgrown the puppy-mouthing phase but still love some one-on-one snuggle time on the couch with my favorite human. My crate is a cool place to hang out in when my foster fam can’t take me in the car with them, especially when I have my special bone or a puzzle to work on to keep me busy. My foster dog siblings are cool to hang out with so a dog brother or sister would be okay although being an only (dog) child would be okay too. I still don’t trust the felines and small humans though so prefer to have none of them around. And I am a little nervous meeting new people and dogs so apartment life still isn’t meant for me. New things can be a little scary but continual self-improvement is a lifelong goal of mine so who wants to learn some new things together? For example, I have learned car rides are fun and there are these things called drive throughs where people hand you yummy treats. I would love to find someone to explore some new places (i.e. drive throughs) with. I love to explore new places on walks too so we can get some exercise in together after visiting the drive throughs. Who's up for some new adventures? Before applying to adopt Danny, you need to be familiar with your local breed-specific legislation regarding Pit Bulls. Applicants must live within 50 miles of the Omaha/Council Bluffs area.  The suggested adoption donation for Danny is $250. We are a 501c3 organization which means that your donation may be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. Your donation goes toward the high cost of veterinary care for our animals in rescue, as well as providing supportive services to animals in homes.  Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application is approved, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver.  If this pet is not spayed or neutered at the time of adoption due to limited vetting availability, a voucher will be given to the adopter for a free spay/neuter procedure at Val Verde Animal Hospital. Spay/neuters completed elsewhere will be reimbursed $80/dog or $55/cat once proof of alteration has been received by Muddy Paws. Alterations are required for all Muddy Paws adoptions. The adoption contract states alters must be done within ONE month of the adoption date or the adopter will be in breach of the contract. Adopters are required to provide proof of alteration to Muddy Paws Rescue immediately following the procedure. Thank you in advance for your compliance. Please Note: We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each animal, based on the animal’s needs. If you and the animal are not a good match, we will help you select another animal, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months.  To learn about Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue or donate to our animals, please visit our website at MuddyPawsSecondChanceRescue.com or our Facebook Page.  ##1107116##

Story
Are you a big dog lover? Do you live on a farm or have a big backyard? Do you enjoy going for runs with a furry friend? What about 2 furry friends? If this sounds like you, then, JACKPOT! Meet Berkley, bonded with sister Bella, who are both Lab/Australian Shepherd mixes! These 7-year-old babies are looking for a new home where they can run around all day, play fetch, & get snuggled at night. Both Berkley & Bella are very friendly dogs who do well with kids, they don't always know how big they are and could knock over a tiny human on accident. Here's the thing about Berkley & Bella.. they have been pretty sneaky, and when mom & dad aren't looking, they dig under the fence and take off running. (We DID say they love running around) So, a very secure fence is a MUST with these two. Both of these dogs are very smart and know quite a few tricks, and love playing together.  The suggested adoption donation for Berkley & Bella together is $500. Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization which means that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals.  In 2020 alone, we were able to provide animal Healthcare costing over $241,000 covered mainly through adoption fees. Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application is approved, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. Please Note: A Courtesy Post designates that an animal is still in the home of its owner and not in a Muddy Paws foster home. This means that our exposure to the animal is limited since we are only assisting the owner in finding a new home for their pet. If needed, we will put you in touch with the owner if you have questions.
