Story
Hii, I'm Kendall! I'm about 7 years old and I came in with my sister Kylie. We were found as strays and we were very skinny. The shelter got us all cleaned up and got our bellies full. I'd like to stay with my sister Kylie if we could, but I will be fine without her too. I'm a sweet and gentle girl. I get along with other dogs and I'm a friend to every person I meet. Even though I'm only 7 I have what they call an "old soul". I am always ready for a snack (or two lol) and can't wait to be your girl. You can't say no to these ears!! I am heartworm positive and in the process of heartworm treatment. I've had my first injection and will need an adopter who can continue my heartworm treatment protocol and take me to my appointments. PCHS will pay for the treatment even after adoption.  If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to reserve me for an appointment. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and St. Louis areas twice monthly. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual. We will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports to Colorado and Iowa, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). For transports to St. Louis, the additional fee is $50 to help cover gas. Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! All of our pets are neutered or spayed, have vaccinations appropriate for their age, treated with flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormed and dogs are also microchipped. #adoptdontshop ##2470141##

Story
Theo was adopted by us in 2020, his previous owner had been homeless. He very quickly became the biggest part of our lives. He loves going for long walks, enjoys hiking, swimming is his Super Bowl. As much as he likes being active, he equally enjoys laying around hanging out, snuggling. He fully believes he is a lap dog. The only reason we are finding him another home is due to not being the most comfortable around small children. He doesn't like having his feet touched or being climbed on, toddlers and babies don't understand that. Theo is the absolute best boy, he deserves a home that he can be comfortable in.
