Story
RESCUE STORY Boris had a rough start. He was born on the streets and learned to survive. His days were filled with scavenging for food, avoiding larger dogs, and seeking shelter in hidden corners. Despite the hardships, Boris possessed a gentle spirit and a pair of soulful eyes that spoke of resilience. He used to live on a university campus and was a community dog. However, this did not take long and university management started to collect all dogs and wanted to put a municipal shelter which is simply a death sentence for a dog. The volunteers didn’t let this happen and placed him in a boarding facility in Turkey. Character Boris is known for his friendly and outgoing nature. He forms strong bonds with his peeps and is often eager to please. With his glossy coat and playful demeanour, Boris will become a beloved member of your family, capture the hearts of everyone in your home. This social butterfly thrives on human interaction and is always eager to make new friends. His warm, expressive eyes reflect his affectionate nature, and his tail wags enthusiastically at the sight of anyone willing to give him attention. He is highly food-motivated. This can be an advantage in training. He can be influenced by the other dogs’ temperament so he could be a good companion to a calm dog with a proper introduction. Despite his friendly nature, Boris harbours a peculiar aversion to men wearing hats. It's a mystery to everyone, as he reacts with a mix of curiosity and caution whenever he encounters someone sporting a hat. In addition, he may exhibit a sense of loyalty that makes him watchful over their loved ones. Even though he is a medium-energy dog, he is playful and entertaining. He loves to play, run, and engage in various activities. Regular exercise is essential to keep him happy. We don’t know how he is around kids and cats. If you plan to adopt a dog for the first time or you are not an experienced dog owner, you should consider working with a trainer as Boris stays in a boarding house for a long time and forgot city life already. He’s social with people but still needs encouragement for city life. Boris can fly to Toronto or Vancouver when he finds his forever home! Story
Meet The Sea and her Mysteries! The Sea and her Mysteries is as old as time... but in actuality is a 1-year-7-month-old flat coated Black Retriever. Since her stay with us, The Sea and her Mysteries has been spayed, microchipped, dewormed, health-checked, given a rabies vaccine and her core vaccines including Intranasal Bordetella. The Sea and her Mysteries has also been to our Board and Train classes for additional training with a professional instructor. The Sea and her Mysteries will require an experienced dog owner who can continue to work with her directly and give her ongoing training. She is really strong on a leash but with a good owner and ongoing attention, The Sea and her Mysteries will thrive in her new forever home!!We would encourage that The Sea and her Mysteries be the only dog in the home.If you are interested in The Sea and her Mysteries, please call our East region shelter at (416) 338-PAWS (7297) for further information. We are open Monday to Sunday 10:30AM to 6:30PM.Thank you for looking!!

Story
Adalynn (Addy) is currently seeking a foster or adoptive family. She is located in the Niagara area. Apply to foster or adopt at rebeldogrescue.com All adoptions with Rebel Dog Rescue have a 15 day probation period. Read about our adoption process on our website. Adalynn is a very special girl who has had a challenging start to life. At only 8 months old, she was found as a stray and taken to a kill shelter. Fortunately, Addy was saved from euthansia. She is a scared girl with no known back story before the kill shelter. Whatever her story is, Addy needs to rebuild her confidence. As such, we are looking for a patient adopter. An adopter that can spend time with Addy helping her feel safe. Addy would thrive in a household where structure and guidance are provided for her to be her best self.Addy has been in Board and Train for approximately 3 months and has done very well (more details on that in a moment). Prior to her training program Addy lived in a foster home. In the foster home she had no accidents (with scheduled breaks). In her new home she will need consistency to learn a new schedule and how to signal she needs let out for her breaks. In her foster she slept through the night from about 10-8 without any accidents and minimal movement. Addy enjoys; toys, treats and naps close by her people. Board and Train Update: Addy has built her confidence and learned so much in her board and train program. Her ability to follow food and seek positive reinforcement is helping her walk away from uncomfortable situations (interaction with other dogs). Addy is experiencing much less stress now with this understanding. Addy is e-collar trained and is thriving with this added form of communication the collar offers. We are able to communicate with Addy by sending low level impulses similar to using leash pressure to guide her in the right direction. Addys new owner(s) will be shown exactly how the training works and what it takes to maintain it!Addy has so much potential. She truly has all the qualities to make her an amazing companion, she just needs someone to say we got this and lead the way Name: Adalynn (Addy)Weight: ~58lb with maybe some growing to doAge: ~1 Year Gender: Female Breed: Lab mix Colour: Black/brindle Medical: No concerns Fixed: Yes Good with men: YesGood with women: YesGood with kids: 16+. Addy has been fostered with older kids (age 12) and did well. Given Addy is insecure we would like to err on the side of caution to ensure long-term success. Morty is a lovely 6 year old red golden retriever, with a winning personality and a stunning coat. This guy could play fetch all day long if given the chance. He is so happy and loves meeting every new person. His perfect home has no other animals and no young children under the age of 16. His owners will be committed in training this guy as he does need some better manners and structure. *Morty does have a behavioural waiver, please call for information.*
