Story
Meet Cayenne — A Firecracker of Joy Looking for Her Safe, Last Forever Sometimes love isn’t enough to change chemistry. Cayenne is coming back to Lucky Paws Rescue because the dogs in her home simply aren’t playing nice together. Despite everyone’s best efforts, the dynamic isn’t safe — and choosing safety over forcing a situation is the responsible, loving decision. And Cayenne? She’s done nothing wrong. Cayenne is VERY active, brilliantly fun, and full of life. She’s the kind of dog who wakes up ready to go — to run, to play, to explore, to learn. She has energy for days and a spark that lights up every room she enters. She thrives on movement, engagement, and adventure. She loves hard. She plays hard. She lives hard — in the best way. But Cayenne needs a home that matches her drive. She would do best as:• an only dog, or• with a very well-matched, confident, playful dog who enjoys rough-and-tumble play and clear boundaries What she does not need is to be set up to fail in a situation where personalities clash. Cayenne is affectionate, smart, and eager to bond with her people. She forms strong connections and wants to be included in everything — walks, playtime, couch time, and life. She needs structure, exercise, and an outlet for her big energy, because when her needs are met, she shines. What hurts the most is that Cayenne has already experienced the confusion of change — and she deserves stability, not bouncing. We are searching for someone who understands high-energy dogs — someone who sees her fire not as a problem, but as potential. A person or family who is ready to commit to training, enrichment, and a lifetime of movement and love. Cayenne doesn’t need “good enough.”She needs right. Please help us find the home where she can finally exhale, stretch her legs, and know she’s safe — forever. If you are active, patient, and ready for a dog who will be your shadow, your adventure buddy, and your biggest cheerleader… Cayenne is waiting for you. ##2553770##

Story
ADOPTION FEE WAIVED! ALSO AVAILABLE TO FOSTER. No doubt you’ve seen those stories about dogs waiting 200, 300 or even 500 days before being adopted. Gilley (short for Gillian) has been at Save the Strays for more than 1,825 days – an incredibly long time to wait for that special someone to come and take her home. Why is she still here?   At 7 years young, Gilley still has a lot of stamina. She’s just crazy for toys and can destroy most of them within 5 minutes. But she has slowed down a bit over the past year and is quite happy to just hang out, get a belly rub and take a nap. She’s really quite sweet and very loyal.    Because Gilley has been here so long, she may need a little time to adjust to a new home and owner. She’s lived in a rural environment with few visitors, so she should be introduced to new sights, sounds and people in small doses. Gilley’s also initially a little uncertain around other dogs, especially if they’re also nervous or too forward. She might do best in a quieter home where she’s the only dog or in a home with only one other laid-back dog of similar size because she will play with other dogs once she’s comfortable with them.     At Save the Strays, we consider the first two weeks (longer, if needed) following adoption to be a trial period and will take Gilley back if the adoption doesn’t work out. We are also waiving Gilley’s adoption fee because we really, really, really want to see her get the home she deserves.    Not quite ready to give a dog a forever home? Gilley is also available to foster if you live within 75 miles of our location. If you have questions or want to apply to adopt or foster Gilley, email us at info@savethestrays.org.        Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.October 25, 2024, 3:29 pm
