ADOPTION FEE WAIVED! ALSO AVAILABLE TO FOSTER. No doubt you’ve seen those stories about dogs waiting 200, 300 or even 500 days before being adopted. Gilley (short for Gillian) has been at Save the Strays for more than 1,825 days – an incredibly long time to wait for that special someone to come and take her home. Why is she still here?   At 7 years young, Gilley still has a lot of stamina. She’s just crazy for toys and can destroy most of them within 5 minutes. But she has slowed down a bit over the past year and is quite happy to just hang out, get a belly rub and take a nap. She’s really quite sweet and very loyal.    Because Gilley has been here so long, she may need a little time to adjust to a new home and owner. She’s lived in a rural environment with few visitors, so she should be introduced to new sights, sounds and people in small doses. Gilley’s also initially a little uncertain around other dogs, especially if they’re also nervous or too forward. She might do best in a quieter home where she’s the only dog or in a home with only one other laid-back dog of similar size because she will play with other dogs once she’s comfortable with them.     At Save the Strays, we consider the first two weeks (longer, if needed) following adoption to be a trial period and will take Gilley back if the adoption doesn’t work out. We are also waiving Gilley’s adoption fee because we really, really, really want to see her get the home she deserves.    Not quite ready to give a dog a forever home? Gilley is also available to foster if you live within 75 miles of our location. If you have questions or want to apply to adopt or foster Gilley, email us at info@savethestrays.org.        Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.October 25, 2024, 3:29 pm

Story
🚨 URGENT FOSTER NEEDED — THIS ENTIRE FAMILY WILL BE KILLED Katie Bell & Her 7 Babies • All Suffering From Severe Demodex & Secondary Infections They need OUT immediately. Katie Bell and her newborn puppies came into the shelter through our Managed Intake program after their owner, who struggles with severe mental health issues, was unable to care for them. This precious little family has been through absolute hell, and they will not survive the shelter without immediate placement. Mama Katie Bell began losing her fur while she was pregnant, and shortly after birth, all the puppies began losing theirs as well. They are now all completely bald and suffering from: 🐾 Severe generalized alopecia (~90%) 🐾 Crusting, scaling, and greasy exudate 🐾 Confirmed demodectic mange 🐾 Secondary bacterial & yeast skin infections The ENTIRE family is affected. They have received medicated baths, and staff are doing everything they can… but this is a shelter. There is no safe, quiet place for newborns, no way to keep their fragile immune systems protected, and no way for Katie Bell to properly care for them here. Despite everything, this mama is a fighter and an angel. She was understandably protective at first, but she has now opened her heart. She loves treats, accepts gentle affection, and has started giving the sweetest kisses. She KNOWS the humans trying to help her mean well. But without a foster or rescue IMMEDIATELY, this entire family will be euthanized. ⸻ 🌟 WE NEED A FOSTER OR RESCUE NOW — TODAY This sweet mama and her babies deserve a chance to heal. A chance to feel softness, warmth, safety. A chance to grow fur again. A chance to live. Their condition is 100% treatable, but NOT in a shelter. PLEASE HELP TEXT KAREN 4136298152

Story
Audie did not have a good life. Someone left him at a trailer park, and people shot him in the leg, he is healed from that, but he can by shy with some new people. He is a very sweet boy that loves to cuddle. He needs a home without young children, he does like other dogs but would need a meet and greet. He deserves a family and would love one.
