Story
I'm a Hound dog looking for love! I am a 3.5 year old American Fox Hound. I have a pretty docile personality, my favorite activity is lounging in front of the fireplace on my bed. I do get spurts of silly energy with zommies. I enjoy running around playing chase and keep away. Like most hounds, I have a very loud bay when I see something but for the most part I don't really bark that much. I walk well on leash, but I do get distracted, like most dogs, and I am easily redirecetd and I am very treat motivated! General Socialization Notes: I am kennel trained and have taken basic obedience classes. I am a bit cautious around new humans, and I am not a fan of those humans I don't know getting into my personal space. However once I know and have accepted a person, I want to be friends. Treats help too! It took about a month to a month and a half for me to get used to my new home I'm in now. I do have some reactivity to guests coming into the home but I am willing to work on that! Does Copper like other animals? I prefer one on one introductions to other dogs. When put into a large group of dogs without any time to acclimate, I will become reactive and try to get out of the situation. I also prefer dogs my own size or smaller. I'm not too sure about cats. Does Copper like children? I have not been around children so I am not too sure how I'd feel. I do think older children, 13 years and older, would be best. Favorite Toys: I enjoy rope toys, toughy toys, and large rubber chew toys. Ideal Forever Home: My ideal situation would be a single family home with no small children. Children 13 years and older might be best. I'd love a large back yard (acreage would be the absolute best!) I'd do best with a regular consistent schedule where my environment is predictable. Another dog would be okay but being with just my humans would be fine too! That way, I can get all the love!

Story
We have had Plato for 4 years after adopting him at ~2 years old, so he is about 6. He is a friendly dog who loves walks, and is in good health. The main reason to rehome is we are expecting a second child this fall, and the first was very difficult, leaving us with little time/resources to care for an extra pet (we also have cats). He does have a couple behaviors we find challenging - he is extremely food motivated and will take food from our toddler's hands/high chair by jumping up. He gets extremely excited for walks and may knock things over in excitement. And he has a strong protective instinct, which includes barking at cars and especially Amazon/mail deliveries, again this can include inadvertently knocking things over or scaring our toddler. He is however very friendly/gentle generally - this excitement and the barking that comes with it are the real challenges, plus the issues with food given we have a child learning to eat.
