Story
Hi! My name is Thor. I am a very loyal and loveable 6-year-old male. My birthday is 9/15/2019. I love being around kids of all ages. I’m very gentle but can get excited when humans first come to visit and will probably jump up on them. I know the commands of sit, lay down, shake, stay and wait. For feeding time, I do as I’m told to sit and stay while my food is placed on my rug. I’m then told to come and given a pat on the back with a ‘good boy’ as a reward. I have free rein of the house. Laying on the couch with my owner is awesome. I get along well with female dogs, but I don’t do well with male dogs. I need to be the dominant dog. I’m house trained and will give you my sad puppy dog eyes when I have to go outside. I love playing ball with my owner. I have never chewed things like pillows or blankets. I’d rather be on or wrapped up in them. I’m ok with walking on a leash, but sadly over the last four years, my owner has had medical issues and now can’t give me the exercise I need.

Story
Bart is a sweet, sweet, sweet 9 year old, 60 lb Foxhound / Beagle mix with the most lovable personality. Even though this handsome guy is 9, he still has plenty of spunk left in him! Bart loves to play, gets adorable goofy bursts of energy, and is truly one of the funniest, friendliest dogs you could ever meet. One minute he’s happily trotting around with a toy or bouncing around the yard, and the next he’s curled up on the couch, perfectly content to be your snuggle buddy. Bart’s story is one that really sticks with you. He came into a very overcrowded, high-kill shelter in Houston, Texas after his owner passed away. Bart was found alone in the home, mourning the loss of his beloved human mom. He was then brought to the shelter, where he sadly ended up on the euthanasia list simply because there wasn’t enough space. While we can’t know every detail of Bart’s past, it’s obvious he was deeply loved. He arrived at the shelter in wonderful condition, which tells us he spent his life as someone’s cherished companion and best friend. Despite everything he’s been through, Bart has remained incredibly sweet, gentle, and full of love. He’s the kind of dog who just wants to be close to his people, quietly soaking up affection and giving it right back. You can truly feel how much he misses having a home and family to call his own. From Bart’s foster: * * * * “Bart is SUCH a good boy! He is amazing with our kids (9 & 13) and absolutely adores them. He’s so patient, loving, and gentle with them, and honestly just wants to be everyone’s best friend. He also gets along wonderfully with both of our dogs and has fit into our home so easily. Bart walks well on leash and enjoys going for walks, but he’s also a professional couch potato and loves lounging around and snuggling. One of the cutest things about him is that he’ll suddenly get these playful little bursts of energy where he gets goofy, playful, and makes us laugh so hard. He really is such a funny, happy-go-lucky guy. He sleeps through the night in a dog bed next to our bed, is fully potty trained, and rides great in the car too. Everywhere he goes, he just wants to say hi to everyone because he is SO incredibly friendly and sweet.” * * * * Bart is ready for a fresh start…a soft place to land where he can feel safe, loved, and never alone again. He has so much love left to give, and we would truly love to see him spend his golden years exactly where he belongs: in a warm, caring home surrounded by people who adore him. Farfel's Rescue has made the decision that we'd like to see Bart in a home with loving and devoted retirees that spends lots of time at home, or enjoy taking their furry best friend along on their adventures. A younger family that works from a home-based office would also be a good choice for this people-loving guy. Bart is a perfect take-along guy. He enjoys the car and is very happy riding in the back seat so he can watch the activity going on outside the window.. Bart is at his absolute best with dog-crazy adults. He's much more comfortable with their quiet energy. A walk followed by time on the couch watching a favorite TV show would speak to this sweet dog. He would be overjoyed to be part of a loving and responsible family. Bart has been fully vetted, vaccinated and neutered to support Farfel's commitment to excellent health in our dogs and zero population growth in the canine community. Our wonderful Bart is looking for his forever home now. If interested in this beautiful and very cuddly and loving best friend, please fill out an application completely at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ and submit. **PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Bart please be sure to submit the Farfel's Rescue adoption application that can be found at the link above or at farfels.com. Rescue site applications such as Petfinder or Adoptapet don't provide enough information for us to determine a great match for this very deserving dog and therefore aren't useful. We're sorry, but in many circumstances, we're unable to get back to those those that don't submit a Farfel's adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue!

Story
We have had Plato for 4 years after adopting him at ~2 years old, so he is about 6. He is a friendly dog who loves walks, and is in good health. The main reason to rehome is we are expecting a second child this fall, and the first was very difficult, leaving us with little time/resources to care for an extra pet (we also have cats). He does have a couple behaviors we find challenging - he is extremely food motivated and will take food from our toddler's hands/high chair by jumping up. He gets extremely excited for walks and may knock things over in excitement. And he has a strong protective instinct, which includes barking at cars and especially Amazon/mail deliveries, again this can include inadvertently knocking things over or scaring our toddler. He is however very friendly/gentle generally - this excitement and the barking that comes with it are the real challenges, plus the issues with food given we have a child learning to eat.
