Story
Meet Zoey. She is a sweet and playful dog who loves people and is great with kids. She is a perfect house guest, fully potty trained and knows commands like sit. Zoey has an adventurous heart. She has a bit of wanderlust and will go on a solo adventure if given the chance, so a securely fenced yard is a strict requirement. She needs a family responsible about keeping gates latched to keep her safe. Regarding other dogs, Zoey is selective. To keep everyone stress-free, she would do best as the only pet in the home where she can be the center of attention. We adore her, but with small children, the household bustle makes it hard to ensure she does not slip out. We want a home where her safety is the priority. If you love walks and have a secure yard, Zoey is ready to be your loyal friend.

Story
THE HEART OF A SWEETHEART Flo is the ultimate “people dog.” Originally rescued from Kentucky, where she lovingly raised her puppies in foster care, Flo has since spent the last year and a half as a cherished member of a family home. She is exceptionally gentle with children and has lived happily alongside three young boys (now ages 6, 6, and 8). Flo truly shines when she’s able to form close bonds and soak up one-on-one affection. In the home, Flo is a delight. She is fully house trained, knows her basic commands, and is a champion cuddler. While she happily follows household routines, she’ll never pass up the chance to curl up on the couch or sneak onto a bed if it means being closer to her people. HER IDEAL ENVIRONMENT Flo is an athletic, curious hound with a love for exploring the world through her nose. Because of this, a securely fenced yard is required so she can safely sniff, play, and enjoy outdoor time. She will thrive in a home where gates are kept closed and her environment is set up for success. UNDERSTANDING HER SOCIAL LIFE Flo prefers to be the only dog in the home. While she can find unfamiliar dogs stressful—particularly those passing by her space—she does best when she doesn’t have to share her home or attention with other pets. A hopeful note: Flo has shown that, with time and very slow introductions, she can build a comfortable relationship with a specific dog in a calm setting. She simply isn’t looking for a canine roommate. WHY FLO IS LOOKING FOR A NEW HOME Flo is deeply loved, and this transition is being handled with care by her rescue to ensure her long-term success. As a sensitive hound who thrives on routine and predictability, Flo does best in a quieter, more controlled environment. A busy household with lots of daily activity can be overwhelming for her, even with the best intentions. The rescue is seeking an experienced, understanding adopter who can provide Flo with a calm, structured home where she can relax, feel secure, and truly flourish. FLO WOULD BE A WONDERFUL MATCH FOR: An active individual or family who enjoys walks and outdoor time A single-pet home where she can be the center of attention A securely fenced yard and predictable daily routine An adopter familiar with hound behavior or open to learning (Flo is currently supported with a low dose of Prozac to help manage environmental stress) If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate companion who will repay your love with endless devotion and snuggles, Flo is ready for her next chapter If you are interested in adopting/meeting , please complete our online adoption application that you can find here: https://www.starfishanimalrescue.com/adopt/dog-adoption-application  . Your application will be reviewed by our team and if it is a good fit, we will send to the foster family to set up a meet! The adoption fee of $150 will include spay/neuter, microchip, age appropriate/required vaccinations, treatment for heartworm and any other necessary medical treatment to assure a healthy new pup for your family. IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER: Although we do our best to describe breed, since our pups all come from shelters we can not and will not make any guarantee on breed or size. We can tell you that they are 100% RESCUED! And that is the BEST breed! *please note that we are a foster home based rescue and we do home visits as part of the adoption process - we are unable to adopt to families who live outside of the Chicago and surrounding suburbs. Thank you for your understanding. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 9, 2026, 5:33 pm

Story
Rowdy is a little shy with new people. Shes great with all dogs she meets and would be best on a home with another dog to help her adjust. Rowdy is curious in new situations, but life up until recently, hasnt been kind to her..... so she will need time to get comfortable and then her true goofy nature will emerge! Like a butterfly, Rowdy is a much different pup than when she 1st came to us from the pound, with no hope of getting out :( UNTIL the rescue chick saw me and knew i was a diamond in the RUFF ;) Rowdy needs a patient home who will give her time to warm up, open up & trust. Older kids only would be best for her and a fully fenced yard is a must. Until she settles in she'll be an escape risk. An apartment would work for Rowdy as well. She is ready for her furever family!! Apply soon! Local adoption only $200, in TX

Story
Bella is a 2-year-old, 24-pound spayed mixed-breed sweetheart who has finished raising her puppies and is finally ready for something that's all about her—a forever family of her own! This adorable low rider is bursting with personality and charm. If there’s a tennis ball nearby, Bella is ready for action! Fetch is one of her favorite activities, and a fenced yard where she can run, play, and chase toys would be her dream come true. Bella is equal parts playful and cuddly. She absolutely loves toys and takes great pride in "redecorating" them by enthusiastically removing their stuffing. After a hard day's work of toy destruction and ball chasing, she's more than happy to curl up next to her favorite people for a cozy nap. When bedtime arrives, Bella prefers to be close to her family. Her favorite spot is at your feet in bed, but she's also perfectly content snoozing in her own bed nearby. Bella gets along well with other dogs and has been wonderful with children. Because she loves toys so much, she may occasionally assume that children's toys belong to her too, so little ones may need a reminder to keep their special treasures picked up. While she's not a fan of being confined in a closed crate, Bella does enjoy relaxing in an open crate when she chooses. She's trustworthy when left home alone and has been respectful of her foster family's belongings. Bella's ideal home is one that appreciates her playful spirit, loving heart, and desire to be part of the action. Whether she's chasing a ball, supervising daily activities, or snuggling up for movie night, Bella simply wants to be where her people are. If you're looking for a loyal companion with a big personality, a playful streak, and endless love to give, Bella may be the perfect addition to your family. Our standard adoption fee is $465. We offer a $15 discount for adopters who pay by cash or check, making the adoption fee $450. Story
Hi! My name is Nash, I am a 7 month old, 22lb and growing small/medium breed hound mix - maybe beagle, treeing walker or maybe basset? My 2 brothers and I were found in a ditch in Tennessee and sent to rescue. We came pretty sick and have gained our strength and are ready to take on the world! My foster mom says that I’ve come a long way since I arrived too afraid for people to touch me, now I am the first to greet her every morning or hop into a strangers laps especially kids! I even love going to soccer and baseball games to meet all the new people there. I have also perfected the art of puppy kisses and will lick your face if you hold me. My happiest place is playing with my dog friends and my brothers and BOY do I LOVE food!! If you drop it I promise you, I will sniff it out and eat it quickly! I also love my peanut butter kong when it’s time to go in my crate or wind down. I absolutely love to run and wrestle and play tug of war with our fancy rope toys or any ball insight! Turkey tendons are my favorite chew and sleeping next to you or a furry friend is my favorite place to be. I am a sweet boy and very affectionate and will seek out someone to cuddle dog or human. I am the first to run to my foster mom when she calls my name. And love to play with my foster families kids! I am already quite smart and social! I love my 6 foster dog friends especially the pittie mix and the Aussie who take turns being my mama! I’ve met my grandma’s chi and he was so fun too so were her cats and am very respectful of their corrections. I appropriately greet new dogs and have been a puppy rockstar at our adoption events saying hello to everyone. I love children even being held by them gently in their laps and have met those 2-17. I’ve trained foster human kids to chase and play fetch with me. I am a smart boy and doing very well pottying outside with routine, sleep in my crate and stay quiet at night and wake my foster mom up at 6 to go potty and eat. I have learned to “sit” “touch”, down” and are working on recall and I do also know my name. If you are looking for chiller pup who loves to play and be around other dogs and kids Nash is your perfect pair! While he doesn’t have to be on top of you or always carried he loves his humans and fur friends and actively seeks their attention! Our standard adoption fee is $465. We offer a $15 discount for adopters who pay by cash or check, making the adoption fee $450. The adoption fee includes spay/neuter when age appropriate at one of our participating veterinarians, age-appropriate core vaccinations, fecal test, deworming, current on flea and tick preventative, and microchip.
