Story
This sweet girl wandered up on May 5th and we have not been successful finding her home. She appeared to have been wandering a while when she arrived. She’s a bit on the thin side, and has lots of healing cuts from running through the woods. Despite seemingly roaming for a while, she has the sweetest temperament and is just looking for a family to love. Unfortunately we had a house fire recently and are still working on getting back on our feet, and we feel it isn’t fair to her to stay with us when we aren’t in a position to provide her with stability. She loves long walks, so we believe she would thrive with an active person that has a fenced yard she can stretch her legs in. She loves car rides! She also appears to be friendly with all dogs and people we have come across, including kids. Saying hi to people on walks is her favorite thing. She’s also a quick learner, she’s working on basic commands and doing well. She is just waiting for her forever humans to find her!

Story
Moose is 9.5 years old and he is a very sweet dog but he needs to be in a home without small children. He is big and rough and has accidentally knocked our 1 year old down and hurt him a few times and he recently started snarling at him when he gets close. This is making us uncomfortable having him around our son so he has been staying in a separate area of our house during the day unless our son is napping or we are out of the house. We want him to go to a home where he will be able to go back to roaming as much as he wants and be around people as he loves attention. He is very sweet, loves people and other dogs (especially little dogs), cats and loves sleeping. He is up to date on vaccines, is microchipped and housebroken.

Rex is a handsome 47 pound Foxhound/Treeing Walker Coonhound. He's four years old and had to be surrendered because he was in a situation with too many dogs. He's an active guy and will do best with older or no children.

Story
Troy is an approximately 3 year old, 45 pound beagle/foxhound mix who came to the shelter when his elderly owner could no longer care for him. He was in foster care during his heartworm treatment but is now back at the shelter ready to meet his new family. Troy is a very well-mannered gentleman looking for his person. He is crate trained, housebroken, has excellent leash manners, and even knows some basic commands. He absolutely knows his name and will respond when told he needs to stop using his “loud voice.” His special talent is occasionally choosing a very dramatic, high-pitched hound bark instead of his regular bark! Troy would make an excellent hiking buddy and companion. He is very good with other dogs and loves to play. He could often be found playing tug-of-war with his foster’s lab or running zoomies with the other dogs. He enjoys all kinds of toys and will even sort of play fetch. One thing to know about Troy is that he will chase cats if they run, although he does not seem malicious about it. Troy has completed heartworm treatment and is doing well. He will need to be retested in five months and should continue on monthly heartworm prevention.
