Story
Meet Watson Doyle, a sweet senior French Bulldog with special needs. Watson has a unique swagger due to some mobility issues from arthritis and possibly an old injury to his right side. Even though he has limited vision, he gets around really well and doesn't bump into things. He seems to be able to see things that are close to him better.    Watson’s favorite times of day are naptime, mealtime, and bedtime. He loves back rubs and scratches. He doesn't mind being gently picked up and carried. He likes sitting with you sometimes but he's also mostly content to just be nearby in a dog bed. He can be vocal and will bark and howl occasionally. He may also whimper a little and wag his tail if he smells something tasty he’d like for you to share. As he's gotten more comfortable in his foster home, he’s started trotting to his foster mom when she gets home from an outing or when she’s got his food bowl ready. He’s such a special little guy that deserves to be pampered the rest of his life!   The Basics Age: Estimated 8 - 9 yrs old Weight: 17 lbs Spayed/Neutered: Yes Microchipped: Yes Vaccines Up-to-Date: Yes On Heartworm Prevention: Yes On Flea/Tick Prevention: Yes House-Trained: Yes, but may have accidents if left alone for long periods or if he walks to the door a few times and no one notices.  Crate-Trained: Not desired, does better left alone in a gated space. Leash Skills: Does okay on a leash, but better to carry him long distances.  Medical: Has limited vision and requires Tacrolimus eye drops twice a day and artificial tear drops as needed. Takes Vetprofen for pain/inflammation twice a day. Has some sensitivity in his backend, especially around his tail. Recent labs were good. Had a growth removed that was hanging from his chest - our vet felt it was slow growing and of no concern.    Likes/Dislikes  Toys: No interest in toys or chewing bones Other Animals: Seems to like the company of other animals. He's living with several other dogs in his foster home and has sniffed at a few of them and wagged his tail but hasn't engaged much otherwise.  People/Kids: Sweet with all, but needs a typically low key home  Car Rides: Usually sleeps on car rides. Separation: May bark or howl if he's aware you're leaving or have left him alone. His foster family usually lets him settle in a dog bed before they sneak out of the house.   Contact/Application Info  Questions? Contact his foster, Amber, at amber@bostonterriertn.org. Current location: Near Abingdon, VA Adoption Fee: $275 Ready to Apply to Adopt? Visit www.bostonterriertn.org!Please use the foster momma or dad's contact information above for questions. The process always begins with an application which can be found at The Boston Terrier Rescue of East Tennessee website Note that in most cases, we do not adopt to families with small children, e.g., 'under 6,' as a precaution to the child's safety and the dog's safety. In some cases with larger Boston mixes or other dogs, we do make exceptions. Please ask the foster momma. We prefer to place dogs within driving distance of where they are being fostered. If someone from outside the local area is approved for adoption, they must be willing to personally drive/fly to get the dog.  The East Coast division (NC/SC/VA/MD/DC) does have special transport capabilties for their kids.   Ask them. Also, submission of an application and fee does not guarantee adoption of any specific Boston since that particular dog may have applications pending or may not be the right match for you.October 1, 2022, 10:21 pm

Story
MEET PETUNIA -- ***Located in Mt. Dora, FL*** PETUNIA is 4-5 years old and weighs about 24 lbs. She has a sweet and calm personality and is a total snuggle-bug!    She was rescued from a backyard breeder and is now doing very well in a foster home. Her first Vet appt. for shots and bloodwork was earlier this week, and she received the 'good health stamp of approval!'  She is scheduled for spay surgery & a chip next week.    She is adjusting well to her new environment, LOVES her toys, is eating well and just being wiggly and curious.  She likes to sit with you on the sofa - or sleep with you in bed.  With reminders, she is 95% housebroken. She seems ok with other dogs -  ***Not sure about cats or kids - YET. Her adoption fee of $350 will cover: her full vetting; blood tests, vaccines, spay surgery and her microchip.  She would do well as an only dog - as long as her owner isn't gone for long periods of time. AND - we would prefer an owner who is familiar with the maladies of this breed.   Adoption fee $350    Interested?  Download our application now.    www.gratefulpaws.org NOTE: Adoption/rehoming fees are applied towards the vet bill: exam, blood tests, vaccinations, fecal, worming, spay/neuter, dental if necessary, and a microchip. There is rarely anything left over, but if that happens, the monies get applied to the next or previous pet - who may have had to have an x-ray, be groomed or have a dental.April 24, 2024, 9:36 am

Meet Galaxy, the lovely French Bulldog ready to bring a galaxy of joy into your life! Galaxy may be new to the rescue, but she's already captured our hearts with her playful demeanor. She's a joy to be around, walks well on a leash and adores snuggling up with her buddy Merlin at the shelter. With her adorable face and loving personality, Galaxy is sure to steal your heart. Galaxy keeps us laughing with her silly antics when she is playing with all of the other dogs, big and small. She is pretty fearless and is the playyard ringleader right now. That toothy underbite is also picture perfect! PLEASE NOTE: All your current pets must be spayed/neutered, vaccinated and on heartworm prevention to adopt from Polka Dogz. We only adopt in Florida. All adoption fees go to help all the dogs in the rescue, some of which require extensive medical care. Thank you for caring for the greater good. Adoption fee is $350 and you can adopt me at WWW.POLKADOGZ.ORG ##2018944##

Story
OJ was saved from a local kill shelter. This baby along with 2 other fur friends were abandoned by their owner and were left chained up outside. While OJ was in the shelter he presented a small dry cough. We immediately took him to our vet to get him checked out along with much needed radiographs. It was determined that he has a soft palate (which is pretty normal for certain breeds). OJ will need a home where he can have an easy going lifestyle. He is estimated to be around 4 years old and weighs approx. 66 pounds.

Story
Edward “Eddie” Elmer is an older Boston Terrier, but does not exactly act his age. He loves a good game of tug of war with stuffed animals and can be a goof ball at times. Eddie is an independent lover boy. He loves to be outside but also enjoys a good scratch on the back. He likes to be in charge at times and needs someone that will continue calm, consistent leadership and make sure he knows he is not the boss. Eddie does not require a lot of attention and he’s typically content laying on the floor beside you.  The Basics Age: Approximately 11 yrs old Weight: Approximately 30 lbs Spayed/Neutered: Yes Microchipped: Yes Vaccines Up-to-Date: Yes On Heartworm Prevention: Yes On Flea/Tick Prevention: Yes House-Trained: Yes Crate-Trained: Yes, but will make noise at the beginning stating he does not like to be in it.
