Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.    Hello future family! My name is Winston, and I am a handsome guy with big, soulful brown eyes and the kind of eyelashes that make everyone swoon. I mean, if I had a dollar for every compliment on them, I’d be living in a mansion by now... but instead, I’m just looking for a forever home full of love! I’m a total love bug. My idea of a good time? Cuddling on the couch and lounging with my people. When I’m at home, I’m pretty mellow — I love to relax and take it easy with my humans, but I’m also ready for action if you bring out a bone or decide it’s belly rub time (my absolute favorite). I can be a bit of a stuffed toy destroyer though, so if you give me one, you’ll want to supervise me. I get carried away, and let’s be real, those squeaky things are just too fun to resist. When nobody’s looking, I may try to gobble up the remnants, but hey, I’m just a dog with big ambitions! Oh, and full disclosure — I’ve got a thing for eating poop. Yeah, I said it. But don’t worry! I’m getting better, thanks to some training and the magic of the “leave it” command. Still, it’s probably best you watch me during those poop breaks. I do require a fenced-in yard, but I also enjoy leisurely walks at the park. And while I know a few basic commands like sit, stay, and touch, I’m just waiting for the right family to help me hone my skills. One skill I don’t need help with is when I hear the word “treat”—I’m there faster than you can blink! At night, I’ll be your angel. I’m happy to quietly sleep in my bed, your bed, or even a crate (I’m flexible like that as long as I’m by you!). But I’m not a “crate dog” when you’re gone. It makes me anxious, so I prefer to have the run of the house when you're away. I basically just wait for you to return…can you blame me? Speaking of anxiety — I do have separation anxiety, so my new family should be prepared to work with me on this. My current family has been so amazing, helping me with some desensitization training, and I take some doggy Prozac, which has helped a lot! But here’s the thing: I’d prefer my people to be around most of the time. Are you a homebody? Do you work from home? Well, then we’re a match made in heaven. I’ll be the best coworker you’ve ever had, and I’ll always have your back! Trust takes me some time, dedication and patience, but once I feel safe, I’ll be your ride or die! My human(s) will need to separately spend one-on-one time with me so I can learn to trust them. And while I’m a bit protective of my home and can be vocal about new people, once the room settles down, I’m all about coexisting. Just, uh, please don’t try to pet me too soon. I’ll let you know when I’m ready. I’m also a quiet, chill guy at dog-friendly places like breweries and Bachmans. I love tagging along, but I’m more of a look, don’t touch kind of dog. I like to observe the fun, but I prefer not to be approached by strangers (unless they have a treat…I can be a brave boy, but ONLY for a treat!). I’ll put my full trust in you to be my #1 advocate. I can live with a cat (as long as they respect my space), but I LOVE dogs. In fact, I’d love to have a confident, playful dog companion at home. Playing is SO fun, and having a doggy friend makes me feel more secure when my people are away. So, what kind of home am I looking for? I need one that’s calm and consistent. A household without kids would be ideal, because I need a peaceful environment to thrive. And random, but when it comes to stairs, I’m good with a few steps, but not too many. I just want to feel secure, safe, and comfortable with my new family. A home with one, or two, adults who have a consistent schedule is my dream home - If you can provide that, I’ll be your world! *Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter’s expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non-shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit. Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home. Bulldogs are a member of the Brachycephalic breed and therefore have a host of health issues that may arise.  Because these dogs are new into our rescue, health issues in the future may arise that we are not aware of.  Some of these issues are allergies, eye issues, yeast infections, interdigital cysts, slipped disks in their back, breathing problems, among a host of others that can occur at any time or when seasons change. While breed experience is not required, we encourage you to thoroughly research the breed and its financial, medical, and environmental needs to be sure the breed is a good fit for you and your family.  It is estimated that the average bulldog owner spends $2,000 per year on medical needs.   In addition to normal pre adoption surgeries, Winston Churchill also had surgery on his nares and soft palate to improve the quality of his breathing. This is reflected within her adoption fee. Bulldogs are one of the most expensive dogs to own, maintain, and rescue and our adoption fees reflect such expenses.  The application process for bulldogs usually moves quite quickly as they are a popular breed, so we ask that adopters do research and be prepared for adoption at the time you submit your application.  They are happy, goofy, playful characters and we are excited you are taking the first steps into rescuing one!   This dog requires an application fee.  This fee must be paid within 24 hours or your application will be considered void.    We will not review or contact applicants that have not completed the payment portion. Bulldog Applications will be responded to within 5 business days, after receipt of the application fee.  Please understand that paying the fee does not guarantee you will be approved to adopt the bulldog. Our goal is place bulldogs in homes that are suited for their individual needs. You may be willing and able to provide a great home, but if it doesn’t meet the specific needs of the bulldog, we will not approve your application.   ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there***Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved. ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/   Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.  All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions. FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.  Meet Gaston!  This handsome man is just over two years old and shy of 30 pounds!  He is a little shy at first, but he is blossoming more and more each day.  He is showing himself to be the friendly, happy guy we know he is!  He really takes cues and learns from other dogs, so having another pup in the home is best for Mr Gaston to reach his full potential.  He watches the other dogs with things like toys and bones and with their continued guidance, those will be his favorite in no time.   Gaston has learned how to do stairs - thanks to the guidance of his fur siblings.  He is quiet in his kennel but has peed in it a few times when the humans were away.  He has gotten on a good schedule and his accidents are fewer and fewer  - also, thanks in part to his neuter!  He is still a bit unsure about being picked up and has not yet learned the joy of treats yet.  Once he figures out how tasty those are, and the trusting hands that give them, he will be a happy guy!  He loves to run in the fenced in backyard and due to his shier nature, a fenced in backyard would be ideal for Gaston.  Leash walking is in the very beginning stages, but with a confident dog, he'd likely master it in no time.  A home with older, respectful kids would be ideal for Gaston as loud noises are still a bit scary.  He has not yet met cats, but would likely do just fine with feline friends.   We see Gaston's future full of love and cuddles, he's just waiting for the perfect home to help him reach his full potential! Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.  Bonjour! Meet Lumiere! This handsome Frenchmen is great with other dogs! While he would love to have a canine companion, it's not required, but he'd kindly ask for time to romp with some in other areas - day care, training classes, outings, etc.  He loves to run in his fenced in yard at his foster home, but if you don't have one, he'll learn that leash training thing with you!  He's a pretty quite guy, but will whine/bark for a bit when he goes in his kennel. Shared walls would have to have tolerant neighbors while he continues his kennel training.   Lumiere has not yet met young kids, but due to his happy nature, he should do just fine - though we would want him to meet yours, should you have it!  Same for kitty cats - he'd very likely just want to play, but has not yet met any.  He is doing well with his potty training, on a schedule, but will need to perfect this in his forever home. Lumiere is a little instigator, he loves getting his foster fur siblings to play and is always the one to start the party.  He has a peaked interest in toys, but is still learning what exactly to do with those, but in no time, that will be part of his party regime, we just know it!  Due to his past life living in a kennel as a commercial stud breeder, he doesnt have a ton of experience being picked up - that concept is still a bit unusual to him, but with each day, he is realizing how fun humans are, along with holdy and cuddle time.  This boy is full of energy and all around exudes happiness to be here! Due to Lumiere's age, a basic obedience class is highly encouraged for male bulldogs who are rescued around one year of age* Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.  Guess what? I will be at Dog Days of White Bear Lake, May 17, 2025 from 10:00 am - 1:00 pm. You will be able to find me at the Underdog Rescue tent. The event is in the Washington Square area and sponsored by Indulge Salon and Spa, 2183 3rd St, White Bear Lake, MN 55110. Please email inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com for questions regarding the dogs. Meet Elphaba (aka Ellie), a quite queen looking for her happily ever after!  If you're dreaming of a peaceful, loving companion with soulful eyes and a heart full of gratitude, meet Ellie, a charming little French Bulldog who proves age is just a number. At around 9 years old and a compact 20 lbs, Ellie is the perfect lap-sized lady ready to spend her golden years wrapped in love, sunshine, and cozy naps. Ellie recently made a big move from Texas to Minnesota, and while she's still adjusting to her new surroundings, she’s already blossoming into a loyal and affectionate sweetheart. She’s quiet as a mouse, crate trained, and fully potty trained on leash—with just a bit of gentle encouragement now and then. She walks beautifully on a leash (though sometimes her excitement gets the better of her tiny legs!) and is a dream in the car. Though she doesn’t seek out other dogs, she’s happy to say a polite hello and gets along well with her foster’s cat. She’s got no interest in toys after the first squeak but give her a sunny spot, a warm lap, or a good petting session, and her heart is yours forever. Plus, she has an adorable little hop when she’s happy—yes, it’s as cute as it sounds. Ellie would thrive in a calm home where she can be the center of attention or share space with respectful pets. She’s perfect for apartment living, doesn’t bark, and won’t chew your shoes—but she will clean up your crumbs.   If you're looking for a loyal, low maintenance snuggle buddy with the spirit of a princess and the manners of a saint, Ellie is your girl!  come meet her and you'll fall in love the moment she looks up at you with those big, beautiful eyes. AND I will be at Underdog Headquarters (3345 Dakota Ave, St. Louis Park, 55416) on Sunday, May 18th from 10:30-11:30 pm. Please email inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com for questions regarding the dogs.   Hey there, I’m Bo! I might be a senior French Bulldog (wise, not old, thank you very much), but don’t let my age fool you—I’ve still got plenty of pep in my step and a whole lot of love to give. I clock in at around 26 pounds of compact charm and bulldog swagger, and I’m absolutely living my best life. I’m a confident, outgoing guy who knows what I like: squeaky toys, car rides, and being wherever you are. Seriously, I’m a world-class companion—loyal, calm, and always ready to hang out. I’ve even gone shopping at TJ Maxx, and yes, I looked fantastic doing it. I’m also crate trained, potty trained (outside only, thank you), and I sleep through the night like a champ. I’m quiet in my crate when you’re gone and will be thrilled to see you when you’re back—no drama, just tail wags. I walk nicely on a leash, I come when called, and I’ve got great house manners. I know how to “sit,” I take direction well, and I’m the kind of guy who just fits right into your routine. I’m not the kind of pup who needs constant supervision—I just need a cozy home, a squeaky toy or two to hoard (yep, I’m that guy), and a person to call my own. I’m not wild about sharing toys with other dogs, so I’d be happiest as your one and only furry roommate. Kids and cats? I haven’t been tested yet, but I’m always willing to keep an open mind. If you're looking for a happy-go-lucky best friend who’s low-maintenance but full of personality, I’m your Bo. Let’s hop in the car, grab a snack, and enjoy the good life together! NUTRITION: Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal. YOU CAN HELP: Not able to foster or adopt right now? Please consider sponsoring an Underdog. Your donation will help us buy dog food and pay for medical costs. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.    Hi there, I’m Laverne, but you can call me Vernie! I’m a confident little French bulldog who’s always ready to brighten your day. At 3 years old and 20 pounds of pure joy, I bring equal parts charm and spunk to every room. My favorite thing? Being your copilot on adventures! Whether it’s a car ride, a walk, or just hanging out with new friends, I’m your girl. Seriously, I’m a total social butterfly—I can’t resist introducing myself to every person I meet. At home, I’m a perfect balance of playful and chill. I love zoomies in the yard, plush toys, and cuddling on the couch when I get the chance. At night, I sleep peacefully in my kennel, but during the day, I want to be wherever you are. I’m potty-trained, crate-trained, and I even know commands like “sit,” “come,” “kennel,” and “go potty.” Told you I’m smart! Now, I’ll be honest, I do have some GI issues. It just means I’m a fancy gal who sticks to her prescription probiotic and special food (it’s worth it—I’m worth it!). I also take a couple of meds to manage my tummy troubles. But don’t worry—I’m super easy to care for, and I never let it slow me down. See more details below about my issue and treatment. I get along great with other dogs, especially big ones, and I’d love a fenced yard for my potty breaks and zoomie sessions. Older kids are cool too, since I get a little bouncy when I’m excited. Here’s the thing: I’m not just cute; I’m endlessly sweet, loyal, and ready to be your shadow. Bonus? I do the cutest yoga pose where I stretch out and kick my right leg in the air. Trust me, it’ll melt your heart! If you’re looking for a playful, loving best friend who’ll make you laugh and keep you company, I’m your girl. Let’s make memories together! Love, Laverne Note, Laverne was diagnosed with Histiocytic ulcerative colitis and is on Baytril for this.  She may need this med lifelong. She also has Moderate lymhoplasmacytic and histiocytic chornic and active enteritis. This is essentially IBS of the small intestine.  She is on a steroid, Budesonide, and may need this lifelong.  She takes a probiotic, Visobime, and eats a prescription diet from the vet. Because this food has some allergens, Laverne displays allergies on her paws and ears. A cytopoint injection helps with this. Down the road, it may be recommended to try a less allergen diet and see if her Colitis/IBS can handle that change.  On this regime, Laverne is flourishing, gaining back lost weight, and a happy girl! Story
Meet Woody – A Mighty Little Pug with Big Love to Give!  Hey there, I’m Woody – a compact, cuddly, and comically sturdy Pug mix who’s looking for a fresh start. I may only weigh about 15 pounds, but I pack a whole lot of personality (and muscle!) into this little frame. I came to The Rescue Crew from a shelter just last week and have already charmed a few different foster homes with my sweet quirks. I was briefly placed in a foster-to-adopt situation with a lovely retired couple, but I’ve got a bit more pep in my step than they were ready for! No hard feelings—they helped me feel safe and loved while I wait for the right match. I’m estimated to be around 2 years old, but given my playful energy and occasional puppy-style mouthiness, I might be even younger. I do great in my crate, sleep through the night like a champ, don’t bark, and I’m housebroken with a perfect potty record so far. I just need a home where I can get some exercise, structure, and a little help polishing up my manners. Because I’m still learning not to get too mouthy when I’m excited, a home without small children would probably be best. But if you’re someone who loves a spunky, squishy-faced sidekick who wants to be part of your everyday life, I might just be your guy. I’m scheduled to be neutered next Tuesday and will likely be adoption-ready soon after. So whether you’re looking for a short-term foster or a forever friend—let’s talk. Crate trained Potty trained Not a barker Available to foster-to-adopt Full of charm (and zoomies) Could you be the next stop on my journey home? If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please complete  an Adoption Request Form. This is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is not a binding contract. To learn more about our adoption process, please visit our Adoption Process page on our website at www.rescuecrew.org. Age and breed are based on veterinarian and intake professional’s recommendation and not guaranteed as a rescue animal’s history is often unknown. All companion animals adopted by The Rescue Crew are spayed/neutered, up-to-date on age appropriate vaccinations, tested for FIV/FeLK (cats) or heartworm (dogs), microchipped, dewormed and provided with monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives prior to adoption.   The Rescue Crew is a foster based rescue organization, meaning all of our adoptable pets are located in homes throughout Minnesota. We do not have a physical location where you can stop by to visit the animals - we require the completion of an Adoption Request Form prior to meeting any of our adoptable pets in foster care. For the most complete information regarding this animal, and all of our adoptable pets, please ensure you are visiting our website directly at www.RescueCrew.org. You can also access the necessary online forms here as well.  ##2396273##
