Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.    Bubble Gum is a 21&#226&#128&#145pound French Bulldog with a soft heart, a gentle spirit, and a personality that’s still blossoming. She’s a little shy in new environments and around new people, but once she feels safe, she becomes a sweet, cuddly shadow who follows her person everywhere. She’s independent at times and snuggly at others, and she’s just beginning to discover the joy of toys. Spiky balls are her current favorite — she loves to lie down and tug on them with her tiny bulldog determination. She’s also wonderfully quiet in her kennel, sleeping through the night and staying accident&#226&#128&#145free. She’s kenneled during mealtimes because she has zero manners around delicious&#226&#128&#145smelling food, but her food motivation will make training much easier. Bubble Gum is doing well with leash training and enjoys car rides once she settles in. She’s almost fully potty trained with a good schedule. She loves the freedom of a fenced yard and needs one in her forever home — she gets the zoomies when she comes inside from potty breaks and when she pops out of her kennel, and it’s pure joy to watch. She’s gentle, intelligent, skittish with loud commotion, and happiest in a calm home. She currently lives with five foster dog siblings and does well with them. She’s fed separately to avoid food guarding, but she’s shown no issues with treats. She prefers dogs her own size and would do well with or without another dog as long as her humans are home most of the time. Bubble Gum loves to burrow under blankets — though she’s hilariously bad at hiding, with a leg or her little bulldog butt usually sticking out. She also has a funny habit of slipping into the stand&#226&#128&#145up shower and slowly peeking out from behind the curtain like she’s on a secret mission. Baths, however, are not her favorite, and she’ll protest the whole time, so her foster uses a cup to make it less overwhelming. She’s sweet, cuddly, goofy, and full of quiet charm. With patience, love, and a calm environment, Bubble Gum will continue to come out of her shell and become the affectionate, loyal companion she’s meant to be. Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter’s expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non-shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit. Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.  Bulldogs, pugs, and Boston terriers, Brussels Griffons, Pekingese and others are a member of the Brachycephalic breed and therefore have a host of health issues that may arise.  Because these dogs are new into our rescue, health issues in the future may arise that we are not aware of.  Some of these issues are allergies, eye issues, yeast infections, interdigital cysts, slipped disks in their back, breathing problems, among a host of others that can occur at any time or when seasons change. While breed experience is not required, we encourage you to thoroughly research the breed and its financial, medical, and environmental needs to be sure this breed is a good fit for you and your family.  It is estimated that the average brachycephalic breed owner spends $2,000 per year on medical needs. In addition to other surgeries, this dog may have had surgery on their nares and soft palate to improve the quality of their breathing.  This will be partially reflected within her adoption fee. These breeds are one of the most expensive dogs to own, maintain, and rescue and our adoption fees reflect such expenses.  The application process for these breeds usually moves quite quickly as they are a popular breed, so we ask that adopters do research and be prepared for adoption at the time you submit your application.  They are happy, goofy, playful characters and we are excited you are taking the first steps into rescuing one!   This dog requires a separate application and an application fee.  This fee must be paid within 24 hours or your application will be considered void.    We will not review or contact applicants that have not completed the payment portion. Meet Hailey 🌸🐶 Hailey is a 6-week-old French Bulldog/Pit Bull mix and the sister of Stormi. She’s still very young and currently nursing with her mom, so she cannot go into a foster home until she is at least 8 weeks old and fully weaned. Once she reaches that age and completes her vetting, she’ll be ready to leave the shelter and begin life in a home environment. We are seeking foster or foster-to-adopt homes that can be ready for Hailey when she becomes eligible. A home setting is ideal for her development, allowing her to start learning daily routines, gentle handling, socialization, and early obedience skills. Hailey has a more laid-back personality and already shows how much she loves to cuddle. She’s sweet, calm, and content being close to her people, making her a wonderful match for someone looking for a loving companion with a softer energy. We are now seeking foster or foster-to-adopt homes lined up for when she becomes eligible, so she can transition directly from the shelter into a loving home environment. This is especially important for Stormi, as a home setting is ideal for starting gentle routines, socialization, and basic obedience skills that puppies learn best outside of a shelter. Stormi is already showing signs of being smart, curious, and eager to learn, and with patience and positive reinforcement, she’s going to grow into a wonderful companion. 🥁 Drum roll please… 🥁 Meet NOX! Let me introduce you to Nox, a 9-month-old cream-colored male French Bulldog and recent breeder surrender. If you’re looking for a dog who will make you laugh every single day, congratulations—you’ve found your guy. Also known as Wiggly Piggly, Sir Licks-a-Lot, Lil’ Potato, and of course Frenchie, Nox is a VERY happy, VERY energetic, and VERY wiggly boy. His whole body gets involved in everything he does. Calm and collected? Not this guy. Nox loves, loves, LOVES toys and is happiest when he’s playing—especially with other dogs. He’s social, joyful, and always ready to party. When it comes to potty training and the outdoors, Nox is still learning. He will go outside to potty, but he is not fully potty trained yet and does have accidents in the house and occasionally misses pee pads. To give you a perfect snapshot of his opinion on bad weather: just yesterday evening, Nox ran eagerly out the door into the fenced backyard, reached the steps going down to the deck… stopped, turned around, and immediately marched right back into the house. Outside? Hard pass. 🚨 Important things to know: • Breed experience preferred — Nox is a lot of dog in a compact little body • Not leash trained — Nox does not yet know how to walk on a leash and has not learned to potty while on leash • Because of this, a securely fenced yard is required • He can become protective when food is left out, so he will need management and continued training around food • Kennel trained and keeps his kennel clean Nox is still very much a puppy and will thrive with structure, consistency, patience, and a good sense of humor. Because of this anatomy, they are prone to certain breed-specific health conditions. Since dogs entering our rescue are new to us, there may be current or future medical needs that are not yet known. Health concerns commonly seen in French Bulldogs include allergies, skin and ear infections (including yeast infections), eye issues, breathing difficulties associated with Brachycephalic Obstructive Airway Syndrome (BOAS), heat intolerance, spinal issues such as IVDD (intervertebral disc disease), patellar luxation, and sensitivities to anesthesia, among others. Some of these conditions can develop at any stage of life or be influenced by factors such as growth, aging, or seasonal changes. We strongly encourage potential adopters to research the French Bulldog breed thoroughly and carefully consider the financial, medical, and environmental responsibilities associated with this breed. We highly encourage you to talk to your Veterinarian about this breed to gain a better understanding of health issues and expense. French Bulldogs often require specialized veterinary care, consistent monitoring, and climate-controlled environments due to their limited ability to regulate body temperature. It is estimated that the average French Bulldog owner spends $2,000 or more per year on medical care, though costs can be significantly higher depending on the dog’s individual needs. You will need to work with your Veterinarian to determine whether nares and/or soft palate surgery is recommended. If deemed necessary, this procedure would be at the adopter’s expense.
