Story
Meet Dixie 💕 Dixie is a super cute, fun, and quirky French Bulldog who is just a little over a year old. She has a big personality packed into a small, squishy body and loves making people smile. Dixie has lived in a home with other dogs, cats, and kids, and she gets along wonderfully with everyone—she’s truly a social little lady. Dixie is a sweet girl who enjoys going for walks to explore the world and is just as happy curling up for cuddles afterward. She loves being close to her people and thrives on attention and affection. Because Dixie is a French Bulldog, it’s important to understand that this breed comes with specific care needs. Frenchies can be a high-maintenance breed, requiring attentive care for things like breathing, skin folds, temperature sensitivity, and overall health. While Dixie is mostly potty trained, she will occasionally use pee pads in the house. She can be a little princess and sometimes prefers her pads to going outside. Her amazing foster family has been working with her! For these reasons, priority will be given to a family with French Bulldog or similar breed experience, as well as a family who has the patience, time, commitment, and financial means to properly care for her. We expect to receive many applications for Dixie. All applications must be fully completed and are first reviewed by our board. We also conduct vet checks and personal reference checks as part of our adoption process. With the holidays approaching, it may take us a bit longer to sort through applications, so we kindly ask for your patience. We will reach out if your application is selected to move forward. Dixie is an adorable, loving companion who will make a wonderful addition to the right home—one that understands her breed and is ready to give her the care and love she deserves. 🐾💗 Apply to adopt Dixie here: https://form.jotform.com/240287047227052

Story
What Makes Me So Special  Lincoln, a neutered Frenchton, (2yrs, 4 months and 35.4lbs) is playful, energetic, affectionate, outgoing, and quite the character. Lincoln is looking for a home as the only dog or with ONE other companion dog to play with. Lincoln loves to run, go on walks and enjoys a daily ride in the car. He also loves tug-of-war with ropes and tug toys. We find Lincoln to be very funny. We always joke that he would be the perfect fraternity mascot. He grunts, snorts, farts, snores and will happily roll onto his back for a belly rub. He has no issue sharing his toys and is used to going into his crate to enjoy a meal, bone or treat. Lincoln can be an escape artist. He has been known to squeeze himself out of a fenced in backyard to say hello to a neighbor’s dog down the street or just see if his human is up for a game of tag. Due to Lincolns comedic antics, he will need a fenced-in backyard with room to run and play. One of the things we love about Lincoln is how he will nudge your leg gently at times to let his human know he’s looking up at you.    Lincoln doesn’t love to go outside when it’s cold and wet so potty breaks when the weather is such can require a little more encouragement. And while I would love to say he never has an accident in the house that would be untrue. Some days he just can’t be bothered with walking the 5 steps needed to potty outside so if he is having one of those days, he may need a personal escort. Lincoln sleeps soundly in his crate all night with no issues. During the day, Lincoln will happily go into his crate to enjoy his favorite bones and treats and will often choose to go in his crate when he is feeling ready for an afternoon snooze.   Lincoln really enjoys playing with another dog but sometimes playtime can get rough so he will need a larger companion dog or one of equal size. If Lincoln is the only dog in the household, he will need an active owner who can provide the daily exercise and companionship he requires. It would be preferable that Lincoln is not in a home with other small animals or small aged children. He is a lover and as much as he tries to be gentle his huge mouth can sometimes deliver more of a kiss than you bargained for. That being said, Lincoln is wonderful with my kids (ages 7, 9, 11), smothers them with kisses and allows them to take objects (food, bones, etc..) from him with no issues. He looks to them for affection and loves TV snuggle time. Lincoln is really the best dog and we love him so much. We also know that he isn’t his best self in a multi-dog household, then add kids to that and it’s a lot of energy all under one roof. Our ideal home for him would be an active household with ONE other companion dog to play with. When Lincoln gets around multiple dogs at once he can get overexcited, which can turn playtime more aggressive if you are not monitoring closely. However, he is very smart, eager to please and I do believe in the right household he could overcome some of those overwhelming feelings (when around multiple dogs at once) and learn to regulate his response to that overstimulation.   Lincoln eats Royal Canin Gastrointestinal dry dog food. He also loves scrambled eggs and fruit and is happy to help clean the floors day or night. He does not have any known allergies. Lincoln does need to have his face gently cleaned a couple times a week (especially between his wrinkles), which he doesn’t mind at all. He doesn’t mind a shower. He does not love getting his nails cut so we have typically had that done at our veterinarian. Lincoln is up to date on all vaccines, microchipped, and on heartworm prevention   The Basics Age: 2 years, 4 months Weight: 35.4 lbs Spayed/Neutered: Yes Microchipped: Yes Vaccines Up-to-Date: Yes On Heartworm Prevention: Yes House-Trained: Yes  Crate-Trained: Yes Leash Skills: He can pull sometimes.    Likes/Dislikes  Toys: Loves bones and tug toys. Story
Benji is a 2 year old French Bulldog that weighs about 22lbs. He is neutered, microchipped, up to date on all vaccinations, and on heart worm prevention. Benji landed in rescue after he suffered a broken leg and his owners were unable to get him the care he needed. Southern Cross immediately stepped in to get Benji the surgery he needed, and he has made a full recovery. Benji is the sweetest little guy! He loves to snuggle on the couch, is definitely a lap dog, and even nuzzles in! He is very playful so would either benefit from having another young playful dog around or active owners who can safely exercise him. Potential adopters need to be prepared for the costs associated with his chronic skin and ear infections, which seem to be at bay with twice weekly medicated baths(medicated shampoo $25 per bottle) and ear cleaning. He is also on a breed specific food as well($80 per bag). Due to his previously broken leg, he is more likely to develop arthritis and potentially have mobility issues in the future. He has not been around children, but does try to play bite when he’s feeling frisky. Benji is looking for a cat-free home where he isnt tempted to chase them :) He is very well crate trained(alhotugh he does like to chew on his bedding), but does have the occasional accident around the house if not supervised. Benji is looking for a forever home that has knowledge of his breed and is able to provide him with the love and care he deserves! If you would like to give Benji his forever home, please submit an application at southerncrossbtr.com. The adoption fee is $500. He is being fostered in Buford, GA. Approved adopters must be willing to travel to where the dog is being fostered in order to adopt them.  For a complete listing of all of our available Bostons, or to learn more about SCBTR, please visit our website at www.southerncrossbtr.com. Story
Odie Roger is a 3-year-old French & English bulldog mix who weighs about 50lb. ODIE WILL NEED AN EXPERIENCED FOSTER OR ADOPTER. He’s wonderful with other dogs of all sizes and ages. He’s also fine with cats—as long as they don’t run. Once the chase instinct kicks in, he simply can’t help himself. He’s quick, but he’s never caught one, and honestly, I think the fun would end if he ever did. He is definitely a busy boy. Will require an active, interactive, balanced home. Would absolutely recommend another playful, active dog in the home, It helps. He's crate trained, housebroken. Adores toys and can get a little competitive (playing with other dogs). He knows basic commands and follows them well. He thrives under structure and stability—those are the keys to keeping him balanced and confident.  He has been doing well in new environments, though he is still uncomfortable with new people who approach him directly. Odie is a vocal “flight, not fight” type of guy—he prefers to retreat and talk about it rather than escalate. At this point, I believe he is ready to move into the next phase of his journey. The longer he stays here, the harder it may become for him to transition in the future. He deserves a committed person or family who can continue his progress and help him truly blossom. Odie is currenly in Cochran, GA, near Warner Robins at a training facility. Interested? Contact the coordinator suzycobb@gmail.com. Foster-to-adopt situation is available. Adoption fee is $440.Includes microchip registration. ##2517689##
