Let us introduce you to Forrest. He has grown so much during the time he has spent here and is willing to learn more. He came in as a stray, very scared and very defensive. He has been through a lot before he was brought into our care and it has taken awhile to see the sweet side of Forrest. However, with all the love, training, and work our staff has put into him, he has made a huge turn around. Even though progress was made, there would have to be multiple meet and greets and a possible home study. Forrest has a lot of walls and he needs multiple slow introductions and time to build a trust to break them down. The best way to do so is an abundance of treats, patience, and love. Treats will be the easiest way to build that connection with Forrest. Another thing we noticed about Forrest is that he loves being read to. On our staff's free time, they will often read stories to calm him down, get use to their presence, and voice. After all of the love he has received here, Forrest has really shown us his sweet, loving, and even playful side and that he is ready for a new era. He is searching for a forever home that will spoil him with patience, love, understanding, and kindness. 'Minty' came to Fedwell Farm about a year ago. His wonderful personality has really come out and he is a foster favorite. Minty is very smart, you can tell him NO and he will not do that behavior again! For instance, the foster mom caught him pulling the stuffing out of a dog bed, she said NO and he has not ever done that behavior again! The beds are safe! Minty has the cutest grin. He should have had braces; we just love it when he smiles! His crooked teeth do NOT cause any eating problems. He loves people. He gets along with everyone! He even can be with dog aggressive dogs; he just is the greatest boy! Spearmint is 11 years old, probably a bit younger, but he is a senior boy. Minty does not seem to have any age-related disorders. He goes to the barn and helps his foster mom with chores. He can go for long walks, hikes etc., he is in great shape! He weight is approximately 80 pounds. Spearmint had been a volunteer favorite and walks very well on a leash. Spearmint can go for walks; hikes and his age does not limit him at all. It is approximately 2 1/2 hours from the Phoenix area or 1 hour east of Tucson. DALILA was picked up as a stray by Animal Control. Dalila is approximately 8 years old and weighed 73 pounds. Dalila became a staff and volunteer favorite at the county shelter. While she came in shy and skeptical, she realized going on walks with the volunteers was a wonderful thing. Dalila can be a little shy when you first meet her, but she warms up quickly with a gentle touch and kind word. This beautiful senior girl would love a home and family to spend the rest of her years with. She has been an absolutely wonderful girl in her foster home. Abel came into the shelter charming everyone's heart. He was so brave and well adjusted. He also came into his foster home and became comfortable right away. Abel was given privileges right away with going out to the front with other dogs. He is well adjusted and such a joy in his foster home. Raichu is a lower energy boy that would be a great dog for an apartment, or in a home with his humans are at work or school during the day. Raichu just wants a family to feel safe and loved.
