A wonderful donor has offered up to $500 to help pay for a dog trainer to work with their adopter. WE WOULD ALLOW THESE DOGS TO A RANCH OR FARM HOME in order to keep them together. We normally do not allow outdoor only, but these two would really love to be together on a farm or ranch. Opal and Dusty have learned so much and come so far! These two wonderful dogs would also excel as service dogs. They are extremely loyal and want to desperately bond with their humans. Both have been snake avoidance trained and actually did so well that the trainer was impressed, and they seem to have known about snakes instinctively. Opal and Dusty were scared kids picked up by animal control in New Mexico. When they arrived, we could not even catch them, they were so afraid. T They have come so far! They love their humans; they look forward to human contact and are absolutely the BEST ON THE LEASH!!!!! They go for long walks with the volunteer, and they are perfect. Once, the volunteer fell on the walk and the leashes were let go., Dusty and Opal stayed right with her and made sure the volunteer was okay and then waited for their leashes to be picked up and carry on with their walk. (The volunteer was not injured thankfully) Both of them are now 2 years old. They have filled out beautifully and are in magnificent condition. Both weigh between 70 and 80 pounds. We would love to place these two in a home together, if possible, but we would separate if necessary. Please come meet these wonderful, beautiful kids and give them the life they really deserve. BIG!!!! Wonderful MalinoisAll dogs are located in foster homes in southeast Arizona, between Benson and Willcox just off Interstate 10. It is approximately 2 1/2 hours from the Phoenix area or 1 hour east of Tucson. LOBO is a big, wonderful boy that weighs 111 pounds and is approximately 8 years old. Lobo had been tied outside and when Animal Control came, he was so scared. It took him awhile to settle at the big scary shelter, but he settled in and has been a joy ever since. Lobo gets along with other dogs; he is sweet and absolutely loves men! Lobo can be a bit shy at first, but he is really coming around and realizing people can be nice. Lobo needs to work on his leash manners, he will learn quickly and be a true joy for walking, hiking, etc. Please come meet Lobo and let him know how wonderful we can be! Gorgeous Serman Sheperd with magnificent red coat!All dogs are located in foster homes in southeast Arizona. They are between Benson and Willcox just south of Interstate 10. We are approximately 2 and 1/2 hours from Tempe and 1 hour east of Tucson. Ben has been a great dog in his foster home. He gets along with all the dogs in the home. is a wonderful, beautiful friendly German Shepherd. Ben is not a high energy dog; he could be an apartment dog. He is happy to watch Animal Planet while his humans are off to school or work. Ben was picked up as a stray and was very upset in the shelter. Obviously, he had been someone's pet and was never put in a kennel in a shelter. It was very rough on him mentally. Ben is approximately 8 years old and weighs 57 pounds. He is thin and needs to fatten up! He probably didn't eat in the shelter and very scared. Ben is very friendly and loves human attention. He is smart and an absolutely wonderful boy! He loves his people, and he has tons of friendly personality. Ben is housebroken, gets along with other dogs and a true angel in his foster home. Let us introduce you to Forrest. He has grown so much during the time he has spent here and is willing to learn more. He came in as a stray, very scared and very defensive. He has been through a lot before he was brought into our care and it has taken awhile to see the sweet side of Forrest. However, with all the love, training, and work our staff has put into him, he has made a huge turn around. Even though progress was made, there would have to be multiple meet and greets and a possible home study. Forrest has a lot of walls and he needs multiple slow introductions and time to build a trust to break them down. The best way to do so is an abundance of treats, patience, and love. Treats will be the easiest way to build that connection with Forrest. Another thing we noticed about Forrest is that he loves being read to. On our staff's free time, they will often read stories to calm him down, get use to their presence, and voice. After all of the love he has received here, Forrest has really shown us his sweet, loving, and even playful side and that he is ready for a new era.
