Story
Zane is an absolute star with his floppy ears and puppy dog eyes that make it hard to say no to him. While it might take him a moment to warm up to new people, once he trusts you you are going to have a die-hard best friend. He already knows how to sit and is doing great learning how to walk on a leash. With that being said, Zane is incredibly smart and is going to need someone willing to keep him physically active as well as mentally active in his new home. He would be a great adventure buddy! Zane loves his treats and is incredibly food motivated, making him easy to train. Zane will not be a good fit for a family with children as he is still learning to overcome his food guarding habit. This is instinctual for most animals, but he just needs to learn to trust that his humans aren't going to take away his most prized possession: FOOD! We do not see Adopt-a-Pet inquiries! Please visit our website www.grandrivershumane.org to fill out an adoption application and learn more about our upcoming adoption event locations.

Story
Our sweet Midge is 4.5 years old and the most beautiful gal you’ll ever meet. She is well trained on an e collar. Loves a good walk/hike. Unfortunately with having small kiddos and a busy schedule with traveling, we have noticed midges anxiety get worse. She gets very anxious anytime we travel and unfortunately it is apart of our life right now. Midge would thrive with a person/family who has a good solid routine, doesn’t travel much or can take her with. Her quirks include, being afraid of wind/storms, can jump a 4ft fence if spooked, and gets along with MOST dogs but decides she doesn’t like random ones so needs to be intro’d carefully. We have another shepherd whom she loves but she’s also very independent and could thrive as the only dog. Not safe with chickens but good around other livestock!

Story
Meet Kona! Kona is an 11-year-old German Shepherd–Malamute mix who has been a loyal, loving part of our family since she was a puppy. She’s grown up with kids and has always been gentle, patient, and full of heart. Kona loves walks, swimming, car rides, and light hikes, but is just as happy relaxing near her people after a day of gentle adventure. She’s protective in the best way — especially when it comes to delivery drivers or mail carriers! She’ll give a proud bark to let you know someone’s here, then settle right back down once things are calm. Kona has a sensitive stomach, so she eats Blue Buffalo chicken with simple add-ins like pumpkin or bone broth. She prefers quiet time while eating but is very sweet otherwise. This beautiful girl has brought endless joy and comfort to our family, and we hope she can do the same for someone new. Kona deserves a calm, loving home to enjoy her golden years — full of care, companionship, and love.
