Please contact Kady Hammer (KadyH@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.sweet gent seeking fresh start and love! CHET NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!! Come meet Chet and other great adoptable dogs this Sunday (April 28th) from 12-3 pm at the Petsmart in Silver Spring (12020 Cherry Hill Rd, Silver Spring, MD 20904)!   Name:  Chet      Best Guess for Breed:  German Shepherd mix   Best Guess for Age: 4 years as of March 2024       SEX:    Male   Approximate Weight:  63 lbs   Gets Along With:  Other dogs! We haven't seen him with kids or cats but he can be tested   Currently Living at:  DC area foster home.   Special adoption considerations: Chet is a truly Lucky Dog! He tested positive for Heartworm disease but has already been treated! Heartworm is not contagious to people or other pets, but results from mosquito bites.  Heartworm, if left untreated, is life threatening, but after treatment, dogs that were heartworm positive should suffer no significant long-term effects so long as they are kept on a monthly heartworm preventative. We are happy to talk more in depth about heartworm disease and treatment during the adoption counseling process.   Chet is Looking For: His forever home! This sweet gent needs a new home through no fault of his own. He's eager to once again have his own humans - German shepherds are known for being quite attached to their people! Long sniffy walks and world exploration with them is on his wish list, as are a cushy dog bed and quality kibble. But you know what's right at the top of the list? Being safe and loved and under his own roof for all his days. Shelter staff say he's very easy on the leash and very good with other dogs. He's in his prime as an adult, well out of the puppy yips, and is more than ready to ease into his new humans' home and hearts. In exchange, they get the immense amount of love and loyalty he is storing up for his new family. What do you say? Is that going to be you?   What My Foster Says About Me:  Chet (Chetty Bear!) is very sweet and loving. He is a quiet dog, and is nervous in new spaces, especially indoors. He will need time to settle in, and learn to trust that his life is going to be good now! He can't wait to meet his special person, and be your buddy for life!   Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT:    The adoption fee for this dog is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment.  If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online at bit.ly/adoptaluckydog   Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption. That said, we cannot make any guarantees about age, breed or temperament.   Thank you for contacting Lucky Dog Animal Rescue and helping to save a life!  Please visit us online at    www.luckydoganimalrescue.org   .    BE A FOSTER!!!    Fosters make it possible for Lucky Dog Animal Rescue to save and care for homeless and abandoned dogs!  To learn about fostering, please contact    fostering@luckydoganimalrescue.org   ! This girl is called Gemma and she is a 5 year old German Shepherd girl that is looking for a Shepherd savvy owner.  This girl is 65 pounds and has come through much in her life and surfaced as a great survivor and ready to embrace a good life.  Her foster mom and dad taught her how to trust, how to love and how to be a wonderful and endearing Shepherd that just wants love.   Gemma needs a fenced yard, a patient and dog savvy Shepherd person that understands her brain psyche and that she is a jewel ready to be continually polished to a shining bright star.  Gemma will be a great dog to love and go on walks and adventures.  She is good with other dogs and cats and also has been around young children. Let’s talk…let’s meet in the middle to make Gemma a part of a great family!  Could it be you!?     Contact ccrnewengland@gmail.com   PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.April 27, 2024, 10:00 pm

Story
Mars is in URGENT need of rescue.  He is a GSD that has been in a very small and out of the way rural shelter for over 3 months and everyone around that shelter has too many dogs already.  He has been cooped up in a 4 X 6 kennel on a concrete floor during the cold of winter and no heat at the shelter.   He is going a little stir crazy.  He plays with other dogs in the play yard but he is a little fearful of new people.  Cautious is the word that best describes him.  The German Shepherd breed is born with a cautious and guardian/working nature.  He is in an unnatural environment and it is crushing his soul.  If you would like to offer a lifeline to this boy named Mars, 2-3 years old and 70 pounds, please DO NOT WAIT.  We are afraid that he will crash and then he will be euthanized as the result of being so confined and limited and left with a feeling of abandonment.  Critter Cavalry Rescue will pay for ALL HIS NEEDS!  Please email us at ccrnewengland@gmail.com ASAP> PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.April 27, 2024, 10:00 pm

Please contact Kady Hammer (KadyH@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.Beautiful German Shepherd looking for forever home! COURAGE NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!! Name: Courage        Best Guess for Breed:  German Shepherd and collie mix   Best Guess for Age:    4 years as of February 2024       SEX:    female   Approximate Weight:  48lbs   Gets Along With:    Other dogs! Due to her shy personality, we do not recommend her for a home with children under the age of 12. We have not seen her with cats but she can be tested.    Currently Living at:  South Carolina shelter   Check out these videos of Courage:  https://youtu.be/zjcPwPT2k2I and https://youtu.be/fCyabQfLqyg.   Special adoption considerations: Courage is a truly Lucky Dog!  She tested positive for Heartworm disease but has already been treated! When Courage arrived from the shelter, she was pretty reserved in the hustle and bustle of city life.  She has been making great strides in foster care! We think Courage would do best in a home that either has a resident dog or who can make sure Courage has lots of opportunities to go on walks regularly with other dogs or visit dog parks and/or doggie daycare with other dogs to build confidence.    Courage is Looking For:  Courage is sweet but a little shy. She is looking for a home to help her settle, making her feel comfortable, and helping show her what it means to have fun! Courage, just like her name, is bravely starting out on a new adventure and is ready for all new experiences. This girl deserves all the spoils of dog life from fetch in yard to long hikes on the weekend.    What My Foster Says About Me:   Courage is settling in to the daily routines of her foster family's home. She is letting go of some of her initial shyness, wagging her tail when she first sees us in the morning. She likes to have her chest scratched, and is beginning to nuzzle us for affection. Courage is fine with our resident dogs, respectfully sniffing them. She sleeps all night in her crate and spends time there during the day when people have to be away. She enjoys sniffy walks through the woods, and is learning not to chase squirrels we encounter. She will 'sit' and 'touch' for treats. Courage has a huge appetite and is putting on some needed pounds. Story
Brock is a very handsome German Shepherd mix pup that is guessed to be a 6 month old that weighs 42 pounds.  This boy was found with his siblings with an apparent abandonment that took place near a busy rural highway.  They were in such danger of getting run over as they wondered aimlessly looking for food and friendships from people.  Brock is smart, loving and very open to being friends with all other creatures and humans.  He has a happy personality and  his foster mom is trying to teach him leash manners, shaking hands, sitting and just being a mannerly teenage pup.  This boy is destined to be a 75 boy we believe and he will be one HANDSOME family member with good looks and brains to match.  Good with cats, dogs, and children!   Step up and claim this German Shepherd mix boy. We are not sure if his ears will reach the full attention  of standing up but they sure are trying hard!!!!   Write to Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.April 27, 2024, 10:00 pm
