He is a very sweet and affectionate dog who forms strong bonds with his people and truly enjoys human companionship. Major has a confident personality and likes to take on an alpha role, so he does best with clear structure, consistency, and an adopter who understands confident dogs. He is highly food motivated, which makes him eager to learn and very responsive to training when positive reinforcement is used. He does best with female dogs and has generally gotten along well with them. Major does not do well with large male dogs and can be too rough for small dogs, so careful placement is important. While he may be able to live successfully with a compatible female dog, Major would likely thrive as an only dog where he can enjoy having his person to himself. An active lifestyle is essential for Major. He has a lot of energy and truly needs space and time to run, play, and burn off that energy each day.
