Story
Meet Jericho and Jagger— 2-year-old brothers with matching soulful eyes and big, gentle hearts. These boys have spent their early years without much human interaction, so the world is still a new and sometimes overwhelming place for them. But together, they find comfort, confidence, and courage.Jericho is the braver of the two, often leading the way with cautious curiosity, while Jagger tends to hang back, watching his brother for reassurance. They’ve come a long way since arriving at the shelter, slowly learning to trust, accept affection, and even enjoy the occasional tail-wagging moment of play.Because they were never properly socialized, Max and Moose will need a very special home—one that’s calm, patient, and experienced with shy or fearful dogs. A quiet environment with a secure yard and lots of love will go a long way in helping these brothers continue their journey. They may never be the life of the party, but they will be incredibly loyal companions to the person who sees their potential and gives them the time and space they need to bloom.

Story
Name: Bates Age: 5 years Breed: German Shepherd mix Size: Large Adoption Application: https://forms.gle/nuKXoMu6gjS5DhFm8 Contact: transport@hssm.org Bates is a 5-year-old German Shepherd mix with a strong presence and an even bigger heart. Bates came into our care as a stray. He was adopted from us back in 2022 but unfortunately lost his way and was missing for quite some time. His previous owners had moved away and gave us the permission to be able to find him a new forever home. Loyal, attentive, and incredibly smart, he’s the kind of dog who forms deep bonds with his people and takes his role as a companion seriously. Once he knows you’re his person, you’ll have a devoted friend for life. He enjoys staying active and would love a home where he can stretch his legs, explore, and spend quality time with his family. Like many shepherds, Bates thrives when he has structure, engagement, and someone who appreciates his intelligence and loyalty. At five years old, Bates has the perfect balance of maturity and energy. He’s past the puppy chaos but still ready for adventures, making him an excellent companion for someone looking for a steady, faithful partner by their side. Bates is already neutered, up to date on vaccines, and is heartworm negative. Bates's $300 adoption fee includes spay/neuter, up to date vaccines, microchip AND transport fee to a location near you. We currently have transportation to CT, MD, NJ, NY, PA, VA, GA, and TN. Please email transport@hssm.org for more information on transports! --> If you are interested in adopting Bates please fill out our online application here: (https://forms.gle/nuKXoMu6gjS5DhFm8 - Dog). A staff member will reach out if your application is approved to discuss the adoption process. No fenced in yard required, and YES - we adopt to families with children! The adoption will not be final until the adoption contract is discussed and signed. Transports are arranged for specific dates, typically within 1-3 weeks of approving your application. Adopters will meet at a designated meeting spot to pick up their new companions. For further information, please first fill out the application referenced above. **Due to import regulations we are not able to adopt to MA or RI residents at this time.

Story
Name: Atlas Age: 5 years Breed: German Shepherd Size: 64.2 pounds Special Needs: Heartworm positive Adoption Application: https://forms.gle/nuKXoMu6gjS5DhFm8 Contact: transport@hssm.org Atlas is a stunning 5-year-old German Shepherd with a noble presence and a heart just as strong as his name suggests. This handsome boy carries himself with confidence and intelligence, always observant of his surroundings and deeply devoted to his people. Atlas has reached a wonderful mature age where he balances calm loyalty with moments of playful fun. He thrives on companionship and would love a home that appreciates the classic German Shepherd traits — intelligence, loyalty, and a strong bond with his family. Atlas enjoys staying active, exploring, and having a purpose, whether that’s going for walks, learning new things, or simply being a steady, loving presence by your side. He does well with other dogs, he is playful but is not too rough. He is good about listening and will come when instructed. If you’re searching for a devoted companion who will stand by you through every chapter of life, Atlas is ready to be your loyal shadow and best friend. Atlas is heartworm positive, so he would need treatment so that he could live out the rest of his day happy and healthy. Atlas's $250 adoption fee includes spay/neuter, up to date vaccines, microchip AND transport fee to a location near you. We currently have transportation to CT, MD, NJ, NY, PA, VA, GA, and TN.
