Thank you, Scott Boling with Coldwell Banker, for sponsoring my care! My adoption fee is just $25!Meet Opal, a stunning 10-year-old German Shepherd mix who proves that beauty only grows with age. Opal arrived at HHHS as a stray in late January, carrying a heavy burden-a large mass that made it difficult for her to stand. Our veterinary team acted quickly to remove the tumor, which was identified as a mast cell tumor. While she is feeling much lighter now, she will need an adopter ready to chat with our medical team about her ongoing care and medications.Opal is the definition of "dainty." She is a gentle lady who thrives on soft pets and quiet companionship. Because she values her personal space and isn't a fan of being hugged or restrained, she's looking for an adult-only home where her boundaries are respected. She's a social girl, though! She enjoyed the company of other dogs during her assessment and even carried a stuffed toy around like a prize. If you have a soft spot for seniors and a calm home, Opal is waiting to meet you. We got Geo when he was around 4 months old from a family friend. Geo is now 2 years old, his birthday is August 17th, 2023. He is smart, energetic, and loving. He loves to be outside and run around, he enjoys playing with other dogs. He also enjoys playing fetch. He is potty trained, and knows how to sit, lay down, Kennel up, stay, shake. He really loves attention and being loved, and being petted. He also likes to hold hands. He often nudges his nose at your hand/arm to be petted. He will let you know when he needs to go potty. He also loves the snow, not a big fan of the hot weather. We are really looking for adopters that will have time to take care of Geo and his needs, this consist of Bath and Brush outs 1-2 a month (he sheds the most in the summer so may need brushed out more) dog park visits for exercise, he will need a fenced in yard that he can’t escape, walks, he needs lots of exercise. We don’t want him to be stuck in a kennel everyday/all-day. He is Funny, Clingy, Nosey.

Story
We adopted Robbie almost a year ago from the Lawrence Humane Society. He is very sweet and playful. He is house trained and does not tear up furniture or shoes. He loves to play with other dogs BUT he has a strong prey instinct so is not good with little dogs or cats. We have two cats and have tried for over a year to correct this behavior but it has not worked. He would be great in a home with other large dogs or alone. He is playful with our kids but is a little too wild with our 3 and 5 year old sometimes (no bites or anything though) so I think he would be great in a home with teenage kids or just adults. He also is very good at jumping fences. We have a typical 4ft chain link fenced in yard and he clears that easily. So he would be best on a farm or in a yard with a privacy fence or invisible fence or something. All in all, he’s a really good, friendly, sweet dog just not a good fit in our home.
