Story
Meet Athena — a wise and wonderful senior lady with a heart of gold. Athena is a gorgeous red German Shepherd–Pitbull mix who has perfected the art of taking life at a gentle pace. She’s friendly with other dogs and enjoys the company of calm, respectful canine friends. While she’s not looking for a high-energy household or constant activity, she does appreciate the occasional playdate to keep things fun. Athena would thrive in a mellow, predictable home where she can relax, feel safe, and enjoy the quieter side of life. She’s a sweetheart with people and has that lovely senior soul that just wants to be near her family. Because of her strong preferences, Athena needs a home without cats or small animals. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who is past the chaos and ready for comfort, Athena might be your perfect match. Let her spend her golden years being cherished — she absolutely deserves it. Since many of our adoptable dogs are in foster homes, appointments are highly recommended to ensure the animal you are interested in is currently at the shelter. Please call or e-mail the shelter to set up an appointment to meet and adopt! Our adoption fees include the following: all of our dogs/puppies are current on vaccinations (DHPP and Rabies if over 3 months of age) at the point of adoption, dewormed, heartworm tested and current on preventative, microchipped, treated for fleas/ticks and are spayed or neutered. Our large dog adoption fee is generally $175 + tax. Our small dog and puppy adoption fee is generally $275+ tax. Adoption fees may vary in special circumstances. Due to space limitations, we do not hold dogs. Because we are on a busy street, we require that all dogs leaving the shelter be in a carrier or on leash. All pets remain up for adoption until an approved application is processed and their adoption fee paid.

Story
Meet Taz! At 8 years old and about 78 pounds, Taz is a senior who’s ready to settle into a loving home. He is neutered and medically up to date, so he’s all set for his next chapter. Taz is sweet and friendly with people and enjoys human companionship, making him a wonderful candidate for someone looking for a loyal, affectionate companion. Taz is still working on his potty training, but with a consistent routine, patience, and positive reinforcement, he has all the potential to truly blossom. He wants to do well and will benefit from a home that can provide structure and understanding. When it comes to canine companions, Taz is selective with other dogs, so he may or may not be able to live with another dog. A meet-and-greet would be important to see if it’s a good match. We’re also unsure how he is with other animals or young children, so a calmer home environment may be the best starting point for him. If you’re looking to open your heart to a devoted senior who still has plenty of love to give, Taz might just be your perfect match. Spayed or Neutered,
Story
🐾Approximately 8-12 month old Spayed Female Mixed Breed approximately 30-35 pounds. She appears to be a petite medium sized gal with our best guesses of breed as Shepherd/Husky mix. 🐾 She’s great with other dogs and enjoys hanging out and playing. She enjoys playing tag and wrestling with others. 🐾 Sweet Potato loves to try and give the cats kisses and play. They usually don’t appreciate her energy, but she will back away if they hiss/swat at her. 🐾 Sweet Potato loves other people and is super happy to make new friends. She absolutely LOVES children and sometimes is a bit over excited to get attention from them, but she tries hard to sit for pets. 🐾 Kennel trained and mostly house trained Sweet Potato arrived to rescue along with 1 of her other siblings (Marshmellow) from a South Dakota Reservation, saved from euthanasia. Sweet Potato is working hard on learning basic obedience commands and working on leash walking skills. She has a higher energy level and enjoys a good walk and play session, but she is starting to show signs of calming down and enjoying a cuddle (after she’s had her walk of course!) Sweet Potato has been vet checked, is up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, heartworm tested negative, spayed, and current on her flea/tick/heartworm/deworming preventatives. Sweet Potato’s adoption donation fee is $300.00

Moxie is a 7-month-old, 35-pound Malinois mix with a sweet personality and an even bigger heart. She’s spayed and medically up to date, and ready to find a home that can keep up with her happy, puppy energy. This sweet girl is affectionate and playful, always eager for attention, fun, and snuggles. She’s still very much a puppy and is continuing to work on her potty training, but is making good progress.
