Story
Thea is a great dog, takes well to training, and she’s got a heck of a personality. Knows sit, wait, come, up, down, lay down, spin, jump, and cage (crate). I adopted her about six months ago, but I’ve received a full time position with my company while I’m still a full time university student, and I’m just not the right home for her anymore. She IS high energy, and always loves attention. Super cuddly and affectionate, but will occasionally smack you. We’ve been going to the dog park consistently since I got her, but last week she was aggressive with other dogs a couple of times. Never been an issue before but she’ll probably need more training/intervention if you have another dog. Would do great in a home with kids - LOVES the attention. I adore this child, she just isn’t mine anymore.

Story
Draco is extremely friendly towards everyone we've met. He is house trained and I think has slight separation anxiety. He has a surprising amount of energy for a 9yr old dog, but is still very capable of being an inside dog (I think he prefers inside). He does not go on furniture. Draco along with another GSD were abandoned on a dirt road north of me a few weeks ago. I impulsively picked them up with the goal of trying to care for them but likely rehoming. After several weeks I've decided I definitely need to rehome at least one if not both of them. In a perfect world, both Draco and Kayla can get adopted together.Kayla is ~50lbs and Draco is ~80lbs as of when I got them groomed after picking them up. I will NOT rehome Kayla before Draco, hence why just the Draco listing. However I will let them go together if desired.

Story
Meet our large German Shepherd mix puppy who recently returned to our program—not because he did anything wrong, but because he’s still very much a big puppy learning how to navigate the world. He’s playful and enjoys having a canine companion, and we are looking for a foster home with another large, calm, well-balanced dog for him to coexist with and engage in appropriate play. The resident dog should not be overly exuberant—this pup does best with dogs that have steady energy and good manners. When given space and time to settle, he does well—but the new foster will absolutely need the capacity to let him decompress for a few days and become comfortable in a new environment before expectations are placed on him.🐶 Enjoys play but needs appropriate, respectful dog interactions - he takes gentle redirection from other dogs very well!🐶 Best with a calm, confident large dog🐶 Will react defensively if another dog becomes aggressive toward him🐶 Needs structure, patience, and decompression timeThis is a sensitive, growing puppy who will thrive in the right foster environment—one that understands decompression, provides clear structure, and supports calm interactions.Let’s help him land somewhere he can truly succeed. To apply to have your home considered for adoption, read about our adoption process or fees, and find out about interstate transport, please visit our website at https://longwayhome.org/adopt.❤ Long Way Home makes no guarantees on breed--most animals we receive from shelters are mixed breeds.

Story
Georgia is a loyal, intelligent, and affectionate 100% German Shepherd (3 yrs) from a Czech working line. She forms strong bonds with her people and thrives in a structured, predictable environment. Playful and energetic, she enjoys being involved with her family and responds well to clear expectations and consistent engagement. She is house trained, knows basic commands, and is highly trainable. She has never bitten anyone and does well with calm, confident handling, and learns quickly with structure. Georgia can be anxious in new situations and is very vocal when meeting unfamiliar people. Her bark sounds intimidating, and she needs calm introductions to settle. Her size and energetic play are not safe for small dogs or small children, and she can become overstimulated easily. She would do best with experienced owners, familiar with working breeds, in a calm home without small pets. She is deeply loved and will be an incredibly devoted companion in the right environment.
