Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. PHOENIX was saved from being shot on the streets of Oman by an amazing organization Muscat Dog Adoption. He along with his 7 friends were flown into JFK where they were cleared the CDC and then picked up and transported back to Give a Dog a Home Rescue, in Sebec, Maine on 5 April 2024 Phoenix is neutered, rabies, core vaccines, monthly preventatives, heartworm and tick disease tested negative and is microchipped. He has an estimated date of birth of 2 January 2023 and at the time of transport weighed around 42 pounds. Mixed breed dogs in Oman are referred to as Omani Wadi Dogs, with most of them being Saluki mixes. PHOENIX is the youngest of the dogs that came over from OMAN and he has settled in great. He shares a kennel with his Omani friends, Myrtle (who keeps in him in check) and KATIE (who he has a crush on lol). He is very affectionate, gentle, playful, he found the toy basket almost straight away and enjoys getting them all out and playing or chewing on them. He doesn't like sharing all the time and will let the other dog know with a low growl that it is his food or toy, but has never escalated to anything other than appropriate communicating. He gets super excited when I go over to the kennels, he loves having lots of neck and ear scratches, cuddles and kisses. He will need a family that has an active lifestyle and can give him all that he deserves and needs to thrive. He will in return give you all the love he has, so many giggles with his goofy antics and lots of wonderful memories to be made. We take a lot of pictures and videos and don't always have the time to post them on the dogs individual webpage and adoption site, so we ask that you go to the rescue   YouTube channel   and    photo albums on our Facebook page   to see a LOT of pictures and videos. We are looking for families that have the lifestyle that the dog needs to lead a healthy, both mentally and physically life, who can afford a GOOD quality food, toys and treats and understand the importance of veterinary wellness checks. Phoenix is located at the rescue in Sebec Maine and is available for a reduced adoption fee of $550. Interested families are required to complete our application process and once approved schedule an appointment to come to the rescue to meet and take home their new best friend. Our process takes 1-2 days as long as we are able to talk to references, so be prepared to be approved (hopefully) to adopt within a few days of submitting the adoption application. https://giveadogahome-rescue.rescuegroups.org/forms/form?formid=5838 HOUSE TRAINED - All of our dogs are located in the kennel building so we are not able to say if a dog is house-trained, however, they do have access and use the dog door to access their run, play area 24/7. FOOD - We feed a variety of high quality brands and flavors including, chicken, turkey, beef, lamb and fish generally alternated daily. CATS - As the dogs are in the kennels, we are not able to say how they are with cats. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. KAI was saved from being shot on the streets of Oman by an amazing organization Muscat Dog Adoption. He along with his7 friends were flown into JFK where they were cleared the CDC and then picked up and transported back to Give a Dog a Home Rescue, in Sebec, Maine on 5 April 2024 KAI is neutered, rabies, core vaccines, monthly preventatives, heartworm and tick disease tested negative and is microchipped. He has an estimated date of birth of 30 January 2010 and at the time of transport weighed around 40 pounds. Mixed breed dogs in Oman are referred to as Omani Wadi Dogs, with most of them being Saluki mixes. KAI was one of the favourites of the rescue in Oman, he had been saved and his foot was all mangled and sadly it was deemed it couldn't be fixed and the only option was amputation. He healed and is doing great and having 3 legs doesn't slow him down. He shares a kennel with his Omani friend "Fliss" and they are constantly wrestling and chasing around the kennel run playing - which is beautiful to see them relaxed and having fun after all they have endured. KAI is a very gentle soul who is happy to chill out, but also play and be goofy. He loves having his neck and ears scratched and will make a great snuggle companion, but of course still needs a fair amount of exercise and lots of fun adventures. When Kai was saved his front leg was mangled that the veterinarians were not able to save and so the decision was made to amputate his leg, and as with all amputee's, this doesn't stop him from having fun and living life. He will need joint supplements to help support the extra work and weight his other leg is enduring. We take a lot of pictures and videos and don't always have the time to post them on the dogs individual webpage and adoption site, so we ask that you go to the rescue       YouTube channel       and       photo albums on our Facebook page       to see a LOT of pictures and videos. Story
Our pets are physically located and fostered in NC until adopted. Once adopted we can transport to you. We have a cost effective transporter that has stops in most north eastern states. She runs every 2 weeks. Please note! Don't just apply just because she has a cheap adopt fee. You must prove you can afford to adopt regardless! I find that most of the folks who apply for my reduced fee dogs back out when they realize they are still responsible for the transport fee. If this applies to you please don't waste our time!Scarlett was born 2-1-21. Her mom was a german shepherd golden mix. We are not positive what dad was. Scarlett is active and very loving. She is good with people and ok with other dogs her size. She is too playful for small dogs. She needs a large dog only home. She is NOT good with cats. She needs an active home with room to run. She would not do well in a cramped up apartment with no exercise. She is house trained and crate trained,This baby will go home spayed and current on vaccinations, deworming, flea preventives, started on heartworm prevention and microchipped. This pup will receive a health certificate issued by our vet prior to going home. The adopter will get all his health records with the adoption. We require a prescreen application to apply. You can get that on our main website at www.saveamuttkennel.net

Story
Our pets are fostered and physically located in NC until adopted. Once adopted we can deliver to your location or one of our north eastern delivery locations. We have a transporter who delivers north ever other week. Sheldon came from a local shelter. They were over full and he was in danger of being euthanized. He is a german shepherd mix. The vet said he is around 2 years old( as of 6-22-23). He is a tall lanky dog, around 65 to 70 pounds. He is a sweet boy and very affectionate. He needs a home with room to run. He is energetic and would need an adopter who can embrace it. He will make THE BEST hiking buddy ever. He likes water to. He would be best in a home where he can be the only dog. If he can't be an only dog he needs a home with a large breed submissive female. He would also do well with puppies. He is doing well with crate training and house training. He will go to his new home current on vaccines, testing, preventives, neutered and microchipped. He will receive a complete physical by our vet prior to going home. He will also be issued a certificate of Health. The adopter will get all the health records with adoption. We require a pre screen application to adopt. You can get that on our website at www.saveamuttkennel.net

Story
Our pets are ALL physically located and fostered in Mt.Airy, NC. Once adopted we can transport to your location or any of our northeastern delivery locations. We have a cost effective transporter who runs every other week. Hansel came in with his sister Gretel. Hansel was in pretty bad shape when he ended up at the shelter He had a leg injury and he was emaciated. He is on the right track now. His leg is healed and he is gaining weight. He is a super sweet goofy boy. The vet said he is around 2 to 4 years old but he is closer to the 2 mark he assumes. Hansel loves people. He is good with children to but due to his size and the fact he is an active dog he would be best in a home with older children. He does not like cats. He is great in the house and he is potty trained. He will even use pee pads if needed. If I had to note any "cons" about him it will be the fact he pulls hard on a leash. That is easily corrected, and he is very trainable. He loves riding in the car and will load up willingly. If you are not familiar with german shepherds please be aware they shed badly. So if you do not want to deal with hair do not apply to adopt one. I would love to keep Hansel and Gretel together if possible. I would give a discount if adopted together. Hansel would do better in a home with another large breed female if he can't go with his sister. He is neutered. had all his shots, current on heart worm testing(negative) and on preventive, and microchipped. The adopter will get all his medical records with adoption. We require an adoption application to adopt. You can get that on the website at www.saveamuttkennel.net
