Story
If you’re looking for a gorgeous girl with great potential, look no further. Millie is a 2 yr old spayed female shepherd mix who is as gentle and sweet as she is beautiful. Her piercing blue eyes and sweet soul will cut through the toughest hearts so beware! She can be timid of new people and new things, but she warms up quickly. As she has adjusted to her foster home and become more comfortable, her mischievous side has started to come out. She likes to steal shoes and, oddly, eggs off the counter 😂 She’s nervous of the sheep and pigs in her foster home and although she has chased the chickens, she’s easily interrupted showing promise for training. We feel Millie will do best in a country home with at least one other dog. If you think you might be a match for her please submit an adoption application at www.PottersAngelsRescue.org

Story
Meet Lolli! Lolli is ready to find her forever home! If you're an active family, looking for a loyal and energetic companion, Lolli might be the perfect fit for you! This sweet girl currently weighs about 60 lbs, is spayed, potty-trained and loves her crate! DNA testing and a training assessment have been done and the results are in! DNA Results: 25% German Shepherd 25% Alaskan Malamute 25% Siberian Husky 25% Poodle & Golden Retriever Assessment Notes from our trainer: Lolli is now 11 months old, excellent in the crate, good with other dogs that can "fairly" correct her.  From my time with Lolli, her biggest area that needs growth is her boundaries and self control. She was jumping a lot because of her over-excitement. She played well, and with enthusiasm. She is such a sweetheart and definitely still has that puppy energy and excitement. During play, she was gentle and easy to take toys from. She dropped the toys willingly and looked to me to continue the games. We started with fetch and moved to a game of tug. I asked for some obedience from her and showed her the value in checking in and looking at the handler - that went great. I asked similar obedience on our walk and had great responses. We also walked towards the main road and she had little to no interest in cars passing by. She saw a few neighbors and just casually continued her walk, she was in a harness and flat collar and didn't pull that much either. Seems to be reasonably environmentally stable, a trash can flipped up loudly on our walk and she wasn't phased, as well as neighbor dogs barking and just kept going. I believe she is in need of outlets for her energy, but not just a 10 mi walk, she needs to play, and use her brain, and that will allow her to make relationships and connections with the humans/handlers around her. She is an energetic young dog, so other dogs in the home would help outlet that social need, but I think constructive games with rules and boundaries are crucial to teaching her life skills on controlling and managing her enthusiasm and energy.  I personally did not see her exhibit her strong prey drive even though reported by her foster home. She was pretty easy to redirect when I was with her, or her foster mom handling her in the house. I know it was a short glimpse, but I take that as a positive. When she gets a hang of the household routine or rules, I'm sure she could thrive if someone gives her the patience and consistency a young dog needs. I also believe that constructive play is a great way to check a lot of boxes for Lolli, she will learn how to follow guidance, control her impulses, and burn energy all in one. She is so sweet and just needs an outlet for that energy that I understand has been a concern for some. For the safety of all involved, we are recommending Lolli go to a home without small animals or small children, with another dog(s) that can fairly show her the rules, and an owner who has the time and patience she deserves. Using play she enjoys can be a great way to release the energy and grow a strong and constructive relationship with the handler. (Our trainer is happy to help if need be.) A fenced in yard is strongly encouraged, and a good daycare could also be very helpful for Lolli’s success. We highly recommend training classes for all of our dogs to get everyone off to a great start. Training recommendations are available. Our adoption fee is $400 which includes age-appropriate vaccines (such as Distemper, Bordetella, Parvo, and Rabies), neutering, worming, microchipping, and health exam. Discount vouchers for training, grooming, and similar dog-related products and services are provided. Thank you for your interest in Lolli—she is a special girl!      February 10, 2025, 9:16 am

Story
Cupid is about 6 years old and 60 lbs. and is such a great boy and so handsome! He was a volunteer favorite in the shelter where he was at risk for euthanasia only because of lack of space. He is a great age with the perfect blend of sweet, calm, but still very playful and fun with the manners of a perfect gentleman. Cupid is not here to break hearts but rather to steal them! He is very outgoing, and ready for adventure but unbelievably easy to walk without even a hint of pulling, and his “sit” is nothing short of perfection. He takes treats politely and has never once tried to swipe a snack. Seriously this dog is as close to perfect as it gets! Cupid is friendly with people and is dog friendly with females and males. He has medium energy, making him a great balance of playful and relaxed, he keeps his kennel clean, and has great house manners. If you are looking for a loyal, well-mannered companion who is ready for walks, snuggles, and all the good times ahead, Cupid is your boy! If interested in giving Cupid the life he deserves, adding him to your family by adopting, or fostering to adopt him, or fostering him until his forever home finds him, please contact Village for Paws Rescue at villageforpawsrescue@gmail.com for more information or to fill out an application.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. MARGO was saved from a high kill shelter in Texas and  arrived at Give a Dog a Home Rescue in Sebec, Maine on Friday, 14th February. We post our available dogs in states across the east coast and Canada to reach as many people as possible in hopes to find perfect homes and families. We do not transport dogs, families must come to the rescue to meet and then hopefully take home.. MARGO is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, heartworm and tick tested negative, is on monthly flea/tick prevention and was given the 12 month pro-heart heartworm prevention injection in February 2025. She is microchipped and on 12 February weighed 58.20 pounds. She has an estimated date of birth of January 2023.  We do not know what the breed is, we expect families to decide looking at any pictures and video's provide and decide if the breed is a good fit for their family. This beautiful girl was adopted from a Texas shelter as a young pup in June 2013, sadly found herself back in a kill shelter in December 2024 at just under 2 years old and is a complete love bug. At the shelter, before coming to Maine, MARGO was lucky to be part of the shelters "Doggy Day Out Program" as she as so well behaved - this is some feedback from the shelter volunteers in their play groups: (5 January) - Shelter Doggy Day Out Program "How did your dog do in the car? Loved it! Which of the following activities did the dog enjoy? Going on a walk How did they interact with strangers? I love meeting new friends! If they saw any cats, how did they react? We didn’t see any cats If they saw any other dogs, how did they react? She was super curious and wanted to go right up to them. She didn’t bark at any even when they would bark at her If they met any children, how did they react? She didn’t meet any children How did I walk on the leash? She was excited and would stay at the pace I went How were my manners and do I know any tricks? Jumpy, Good manners Did they show any of the additional behaviors listed below? Warms up (timid at first), Wants to sniff, Wants to run The best part of my Daycation was when.......Ending our day with a pup cup! Any additional notes you would like to include about the dog? Margo was happy and excited to do anything in the day!" The shelter volunteer stated (8 January) Dog didn't mind the other and made way away from others to relax to self for some time and showed some playful energy with the others once getting warmed up with the group. (16 January) High energy, jumpy, social with people, loose wiggly body, wants to play and run, high energy. (22 January) During the observation Margo was a good girl, she listens to the command sit and has a burst of energy. (28 January) High energy, jumpy, knows sit, knows shake, leash puller. Social with dogs and people, loose wiggly body. Love bug, wants to play, wants to run, solicits pets. Knows sit, shake, energetic, jumper, loves to run interests in dogs leash reactive.  (Rescue comments - it is important to take into account when reading these comments that these dogs are in a strange environment with a lot of dogs, and they are learning about each other in a very small space of time, it is high stimulation environment, also often the first time they have had exercise with other dogs.  Comments are from volunteers, not trainers or behavio rists). We are looking for families that have the lifestyle that the dog needs to lead a healthy, both mentally and physically life, who can afford a GOOD quality food, toys and treats and understand the importance of veterinary wellness checks. MARGO is available for adoption for an adoption fee of $300, as noted she is located at the rescue in Sebec, Maine and families are required to complete and submit an  adoption application and when approved schedule an appointment to come to the rescue to meet and hopefully take home this sweet girl. Applications are processed with 24 hours of them being received. He has an estimated date of birth of December 2022.  We do not know what the breed is, we expect families to decide looking at any pictures and video's provide and decide if the breed is a good fit for their family. Koda's adoption fee has been reduced in hopes to find his forever home as he is not doing great in the kennel environment, he gets over-stimulated which doesn't help as he isn't getting the mental stimulation or exercise that he needs. Koda is an incredibly affectionate boy, he is very responsive, knows sit and possibly other commands. Koda needs a family that understand the breeds needs and has the active lifestyle that he needs. We are looking for a family that understand that dogs need time to decompress and figure out what has happened to them the past several months, who these new people are and to learn the new rules, boundaries and expectations of their new families. He takes treats gently, rode great on the transport up from the airport up to the rescue and uses the dog door with no problems. He is a dog that definitely needs mental stimulation and training so he knows exactly what is expected of him. When he first arrived at the rescue, he would try and bolt out of the gate, jump up when I was trying to give him his food - after just a few days of correction he has learned, he still gets excited but he is in a kennel environment and craving attention. The shelter volunteer stated that Koda began to wag his tail when he saw them in front of his kennel. He took treats from them still wagging his tail. His eyes were friendly and his body was relaxed. He had a very friendly demeanor. A volunteer took him to a play group and said he was quick to join play with others and very pushy and obnoxious with his energy towards others. Would run and roughhouse with others that can keep up with his energy. Needed to be corrected due to getting too into play and being too pushy and excited with others at times.   (Rescue comments - it is important to take into account when reading these comments that these dogs are in a strange environment with a lot of dogs, and they are learning about each other in a very small space of time, it is high stimulation environment, also often the first time they have had exercise with other dogs.
