Lola LaRue. Doesn't that sound like the name of a glamorous Southern belle? A sophisticated lady with impeccable manners, an impressive social calendar, and perhaps a little family money?
Well, we made it up. She's from Alabama, and we thought plain old "Lola" just didn't do this spectacular girl justice. And once you meet her, we think you'll agree!
At approximately 2.5 years old, Lola LaRue is a gorgeous, speckled sweetheart with a personality every bit as fabulous as her name. Those big brown eyes, those floppy ears, that wonderfully spotted coat, and a smile that seems permanently plastered across her face. She's the kind of dog who turns heads wherever she goes!
And Lola LOVES meeting people. She's outgoing, affectionate, and unfailingly friendly, approaching life with the kind of enthusiasm that makes you wonder if she's ever had a bad day. She's a natural conversation starter, and we suspect her future adopter will make an awful lot of new friends simply by walking down the street with her!
Speaking of walks, Lola is already a lovely leash companion. She's happy to get out and explore, and with her winning personality and distinctive good looks, she's sure to make even an ordinary neighborhood stroll feel like a social event.
Lola is also a HUGE fan of other dogs! She's a playful, social girl who absolutely loves a good wrestling match with her canine friends. But don't let her enthusiasm for rough-and-tumble play fool you. Miss LaRue has range! She can also be demure and dainty, as she demonstrates with her kennel roommate, Tyler. She seems to understand that different friends call for different kinds of fun, and we love watching her show off both sides of her personality.
What makes Lola so special isn't just that she's beautiful, or friendly, or playful. It's that she's such a genuinely delightful dog to be around. She's happy, affectionate, sociable, and seems to have a knack for making everyone around her smile.
Lola LaRue may have a fancy name, but she's not the least bit high-maintenance when it comes to making friends. All she needs is someone to love, some canine buddies to play with, and plenty of opportunities to show the world just how wonderful she is.
If you're looking for a gorgeous girl with Southern charm, a million-dollar smile, and a personality that lights up a room, allow us to introduce you to the one and only Lola LaRue.
Trust us, she's every bit as fabulous as she sounds!
Lola's adoption fee is $300. This animal is spayed and up to date on core vaccines.
Lola is Heartworm positive and is undergoing treatment with us. Heartland will cover the cost of treatment until she is Heartworm negative.
Heartworm disease is common in dogs throughout the United States. It is a mosquito-borne disease and is not contagious to humans or other pets.
If left untreated, heartworm infection can turn deadly. However, her Heartworm infection was identified and is being treated, and the prognosis is excellent.
Heartworm disease is both preventable and curable. Once cured, a normal quality of life can be expected. It is important for all dogs to stay on lifelong Heartworm prevention, as even Heartworm positive dogs can be reinfected at any time if not current on preventions.
Lola LaRue is on a 28 day course of antibiotics, after which she will receive three injections to treat her Heartworm (the first one will be on 12/8/26; with the final two on 1/5/27 and 1/6/27). All treatments will take place at our shelter with our veterinarian.
That will complete the treatment, but she will need a quick retest at the adopter's vet 9 months post-treatment to make sure that she is Heartworm-free.
