Story
Meet Red — Your 52-Lb. Velcro Best Friend! Red is a 1.5-year-old, 52-pound sweetheart who was rescued from a shelter’s euthanasia list along with his three siblings. Now that he’s safe in foster care, Red is showing everyone just how special he is. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who wants nothing more than to be by your side, Red is your guy. He’s a true Velcro dog who loves being near his people—whether that means sitting next to you, following you from room to room, or simply keeping you company. Despite his young age, Red is wonderfully calm, chill, and easygoing. He isn’t a high-energy dog and is perfectly happy hanging out with his favorite people. He’s also great with both big and small dogs and would make a wonderful addition to a family. We think he’d be especially lovely with children. Red is smart, affectionate, and incredibly loyal. He also has a hilarious mischievous side! He loves sneaking off with things from the outdoor table, and when his foster catches him with his latest treasure, he proudly acts like he’s just won the jackpot. He’s also a bit of a Houdini—Red can figure out how to escape when given the opportunity. But here’s the funny part: he doesn’t actually want to go anywhere! He’ll escape, only to follow his people around anyway. He just wants to be wherever you are. And mornings are one of Red’s specialties. When he sees his person first thing, he likes to jump up and say hello with what can only be described as a big, happy good-morning hug. He definitely loves his toys, especially balls!! Red is the kind of dog who makes you feel loved simply by being around you. He’s sweet, gentle, affectionate, smart, loyal, and wonderfully laid-back—with just enough goofy personality to keep you laughing. Red is ready for a family of his own. If you’re looking for a devoted best friend who will follow you everywhere, greet you with hugs, and happily spend his days by your side, Red may be exactly who you’ve been waiting for. Red is neutered, heart worm negative, current on age-appropriate vaccinations, current on flea/tick and heart worm prevention, microchipped, current on de-wormer, and will receive a clean bill of health from a licensed veterinarian prior to transport. Story
🐾 Meet Hulk! Hulk is approximately 11 months old, 47 lbs, and the biggest of his litter — hence the name! 💚 Hulk and his siblings Wanda, Peggy, Black Widow, Nebula, and Thor were found at a construction site in South Texas along the Mexico border. They were among multiple dogs at the site, hungry, exhausted, and looking defeated. Thankfully, all six puppies and several of the other dogs were rescued and brought to a safe sanctuary, where they have been thriving since March 2026. After months at the sanctuary, Hulk has blossomed into a happy, social, goofy, confident, and incredibly lovable young dog who is ready for a family of his own. Hulk is looking for an active home and a family who wants a four-legged adventure buddy. Hiking? Absolutely. Exploring? Yes, please! Playing with other dogs? He’s all in. He has plenty of puppy energy and would love a home where he can get lots of exercise, playtime, enrichment, and continued training. But don't let his energy fool you — Hulk also knows how to relax. In his kennel, especially when paired with his friend Robin, he is calm and comfortable. Once he's out, though, he is ready to run, play, splash in the kiddie pool, and have some fun! 💚 Hulk's Personality Loves all humans and happily greets strangers Extremely affectionate and loves getting pets Very sweet and loves belly rubs Goofy, confident, playful, and fun Loves following his people around Very food motivated… although he's still learning that treats are supposed to help you sit, not simply disappear! 😂 Loves toys, sticks, and especially stealing work gloves Obsessed with water and loves getting wet Enjoys running and playing Has plenty of puppy energy Crate trained Social and friendly Would be wonderful with children Can live with other dogs and would love canine playmates Could also be perfectly happy as the only dog Does well with cats with proper introductions Hulk has a particularly hilarious weakness: garden and work gloves. If someone at the sanctuary leaves a pair hanging around, Hulk considers them a fair game. He is also obsessed with sticks — one foster was cleaning up the property with a handful of sticks, and Hulk immediately decided they belonged to him. 😂 So if you're looking for a dog who will help with yard work… Hulk has some very specific ideas about what that means! 🏊‍♂️ Water Dog Extraordinaire Hulk absolutely loves water. If there is a kiddie pool available, he's probably going to be in it. He loves splashing, getting wet, and generally making sure everyone knows that water is meant to be enjoyed. 🏡 What Hulk Needs Hulk is still a young dog and will need consistent, positive training to help him become the best version of himself. He is still working on his leash skills and basic manners, so his adopter should be prepared to continue working with him as he grows. He would thrive with an active person or family who wants to take him on adventures, provide plenty of exercise and enrichment, and include him in their daily life. He's a short-to-medium-sized guy — not exactly tall, but definitely solidly built! At 47 lbs, Hulk is the biggest of the litter and is, shall we say, a little big-boned. 😂 He is not exactly the easiest dog to pick up and carry around, so fortunately, he much prefers keeping his four paws on the ground anyway! Most importantly, Hulk is a loving, happy young dog who has come so far since the day he was found. He went from a hungry, defeated puppy at a construction site to a confident, playful, affectionate dog who is ready to discover what life with a family is really like. If you're looking for a goofy, lovable, energetic companion who will happily follow you around, steal your gloves, chase sticks, splash in the water, and shower you with affection… Hulk might just be your guy. 💚🐾 Hulk is neutered, heart worm negative, current on age-appropriate vaccinations, current on flea/tick and heart worm prevention, microchipped, current on de-wormer, and will receive a clean bill of health from a licensed veterinarian prior to transport. If you have any questions, please email us at adoptions@pawscrossedny.org for more information. Please understand that we cannot hold any pets. All adoptions are done on a first come, first adopt basis for pre-approved applicants. The Shelter software system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of our dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. Story
I am going through a life change situation right now and I’m under a lot of stress mentally as well and I can barely take care of myself. Ven is 8 year old and turning 9 in 2027 March. I adopted him July 2020 from a shelter in NJ when he was 2. He used to be very energetic and he loves chasing squirrels. He now is much calmer but he’s in very good physical health. So he can be a good running partner He does need constant training with not pulling on the leash. He generally doesn’t do good with small animals. He’s scared of loud noises and does not like water. He’s house trained and knows basic commands. He could benefit from a home with a love for outdoors because he enjoys a lot of running and exploring. He’s very active.

Story
Hi there! I'm Goose, a very handsome 10-month-old, 51-pound German Shorthaired Pointer mix, and I am officially on the lookout for a forever family! My story started on the streets of San Antonio. I was wandering around all by myself, but even though I waited and hoped, nobody came to claim me. Just when things were looking a bit lonely, 4 Little Paws Rescue stepped in and saved the day! I am now neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, happy, and healthy, with all my vet records packed and ready to say Bye-Bye to Texas! First and foremost, I love absolutely everyone: Kids, strangers, other dogs, and even cats—I think everyone is just a best friend I haven't met yet! I am super friendly, a bit of a goofball, and don’t have a shy bone in my body. When I want some affection from my family, I gently nuzzle to let them know I'm ready for some pets, and I’m never too proud to share kisses. My foster mom says I’m a true sweetheart with everyone, and if another dog gets grumpy, I’m not the type to defend myself—I'm a lover, not a fighter! I've got the perfect balance of energy- fun and playful, and ready to zoom around the yard, but I'm just as happy to sit nicely, showing off my winning smile and rugged good looks. I love walks and car rides, and spending time with my family. I am housebroken and know how to use a doggy door. I only bark when I need to alert you, and I am not destructive. That's me in a nutshell, just a good boy dreaming of a wonderful future! Inquire about me today. Adoption Fee: $500 * 4 Little Paws is based in CT. We adopt in many different states along the East Coast. Transport costs are included in the adoption fee. If you are located outside the states we typically adopt to, we have options to get the dog of your dreams to your location.

Story
Meet Winter & Duncan 🐾 Born around July 21, 2026, Winter and Duncan are two incredibly affectionate, gentle puppies who have been raised with nothing but love, kindness, kisses, and plenty of cuddles in their foster home. These babies are expected to grow into BIG dogs! They already have huge paws and are likely to be quite substantial when fully grown. Their dad is a purebred black German Shepherd, and they appear to have some bird-dog in their mix as well, with their adorable floppy ears and lots of speckles. ❄️ Winter Winter is a tiny, very chill and reserved little runt. She’s extremely shy at first and takes a little while to feel comfortable enough to play with her siblings. Once she warms up, though, her personality comes shining through — she turns into a hilarious little turd who absolutely loves attention, cuddles, and being held. She can be timid in new situations, but with patience and reassurance she blossoms into a sweet, affectionate little cuddlebug. 🖤 Duncan Chunky Dunky Duncan is the fat boy of the pair! He loves being first at absolutely everything and has a wonderfully brave, confident personality. He’s smart, determined, and definitely a little hardheaded — he knows what he wants! He’s also an enormous cuddlebug once he gets sleepy and would happily curl up with his people. And yes… Duncan has fat rolls. 😂 ❤️ Total Velcro Babies Both puppies are extremely people-oriented and affectionate. They love all people and want to be wherever their humans are. They’ll sleep on you, beside you, at your feet — basically anywhere they can be close to you. They are the ultimate little Velcro puppies and would much rather lie next to their foster mum and watch what she’s doing than be off by themselves. Their foster says they are some of the most relaxed and chill puppies she has ever had. They have full run of the house and spend their days playing with their toys, exploring, then settling down for cuddles and kisses. They even have their own room filled with toys, and they absolutely love to play! 🐱 Great With Cats Winter and Duncan are being raised alongside 11 cats and couldn't care less about them. They don't chase or bother the cats — at most, they'll wander over for a curious little sniff before carrying on with their day. 🐶 Learning About Other Dogs They have been a little timid around other dogs, especially because the older dogs in their foster home weren't particularly interested in playing with them. Recently, they've started gaining confidence and have been happily interacting with their foster's Great Pyrenees. They love lying on her, chewing on her, and playing around her. 💦 WATER BABIES! These two absolutely LOVE water! Give them a hose and they'll happily bite at the water, splash around, and play in a little pool of water and mud. They're going to have so much fun with an adventurous family! 📏 Future Size They are still very young — only around 7 weeks old — so their adult size is still an estimate. • Duncan: already at least around 8–10 lbs and likely to be a big boy • Winter: around 5 lbs or possibly less • Both have huge paws and are expected to grow into large dogs • These aren't going to be tiny lapdogs — they're likely to be big, beautiful dogs with big personalities and even bigger hearts. Winter and Duncan have known nothing but love, kindness, cuddles, and kisses in their foster home. They are playful, affectionate, people-loving, sleepy little cuddlebugs who simply want to be near their humans. If you're looking for a loyal, loving companion who will follow you around the house, sleep at your feet, and happily climb into your lap for cuddles, Winter or Duncan may be your perfect match. ❤️🐾 **They do not have to be adopted together** Duncan and Winter are current on age-appropriate vaccinations, current on flea/tick and heart worm prevention, microchipped, current on de-wormer, and will receive a clean bill of health from a licensed veterinarian prior to transport. Story
Peggy is a petite girl weighing a whopping 25 lbs! She is approximately 11 months old. We believe once full grown she will be around 38-40 lbs. Her siblings are all staying pretty small! This gentle girl absolutely loves other dogs; big and small. She is currently being fostered in a sanctuary in south Texas, along the Texas/Mexico border. This amazing sanctuary is only a short term stop for this fur-baby until their forever home is found. Peggy was found in January of 2026 in a cemetery with about 12+ other dogs. She was fending for herself, finding food, water and shelter where and when she could. Peggy was the smallest of the bunch, so she was probably picked on a lot more than the other doggies. Her siblings are Hulk, Nebula, Wanda, Thor and Black Widow, who are also available for adoption! She is much calmer than the other dogs at the sanctuary. Peggy likes to play, but she also likes to just sit back and watch everyone else cause trouble. She will run along side of them, with sometimes joining in the rough housing. She likes to ref the other dogs by barking at them playing. Peggy would be great for a calmer household – play in the backyard with another dog and her toys. She is working on her leash training – she is crate trained. Peggy loves playing in the water and laying in the kiddy pool, cooling off. If you want a smaller doggy to stay by your side, to cuddle with and to enjoy the nice days outside – Peggy is a wonderful choice. Peggy is fixed (spayed/neutered), heart worm negative, current on age-appropriate vaccinations, current on flea/tick and heart worm prevention, microchipped, current on de-wormer, and will receive a clean bill of health from a licensed veterinarian prior to transport.
