At 6 years old, Gunner is a handsome German Shorthaired Pointer who is ready to trade the kennel life for something much more his speed, a comfy couch, a loving family, and plenty of adventures!Gunner grew up sharing his home with another GSP, so he may very well enjoy having another dog about his size around. If you already have a canine companion at home, bring them along for a meet and greet so we can see if these two might become the perfect adventure buddies!Gunner is also familiar with cats. However, true to his working-breed roots, he can become a little too interested in feline friends without structure and guidance. A home that understands working breeds and is prepared to provide appropriate outlets, boundaries, enrichment, and activity will help Gunner thrive.The busy Centre environment isn't the ideal long-term setting for a working breed like Gunner. Story
Brown is one of the happiest dogs you’ll ever meet! His enthusiasm is contagious, and he finds pure joy in just about everything—walks, treats, belly rubs, and all the love he can get. With his high energy, Brown is looking for an active family who can provide plenty of exercise and ongoing training to keep him engaged and happy. He’s wonderful with people, including children, but his excitement can make him a bit jumpy, so a home without very small kids would be best. Brown is currently being assessed for his interactions with other dogs. He’s doing well with female dogs but will need slow and careful introductions to ensure positive relationships with other canine companions. Resilient and full of spirit, Brown has overcome a lot. He was transferred to us from another shelter, where he was rescued from a neglect and cruelty situation. Shortly after arriving, Brown was diagnosed with leishmaniasis, a disease transmitted by sand fly that requires daily medication and routine blood and urine testing. He also tested positive for two tick-borne diseases, Ehrlichia and Anaplasma, both of which have been successfully treated, though his blood values still need regular monitoring. Despite these challenges, Brown’s vibrant personality hasn’t wavered. He was recently diagnosed with pemphigus foliaceus, an immune disorder affecting his skin, but with treatment of a low-dose steroid, he’s doing well. Moose is fostered near Havelock, ON. This handsome doggie is Moose a 6 year old, 61 pound, neutered German Shorthaired Pointer mix.  Friendly and easygoing; he gets along well with other dogs on leash and in the home. He has also coexisted happily with cats, having grown up with one. Meeting new people? Moose is all about it—he’s a social butterfly who enjoys the company of everyone he meets. Moose is house-trained and has perfected his indoor manners, with no accidents at all. He doesn’t require a crate; he confidently relaxes at home while waiting for your return. When it comes to car rides, he behaves beautifully, especially when he knows it’s not a trip to the vet! This handsome boy is excellent on a leash and enjoys two daily walks to keep his energy levels in check. Moose loves to play fetch, and after some fun outside, he’s happy to lounge around the house. Regular brushing keeps him looking his best and helps manage shedding, and he is very cooperative during grooming. He knows several commands: come, sit, down, wait, and leave it—and he mostly follows them like a champ! Moose's current diet includes Hills Sensitive Stomach and Skin, as he has reactions to beef and dairy. He loves his daily meals mixed with a bit of pumpkin puree or unsweetened applesauce, and he finds his medications easy to take when hidden in liverwurst. Speaking of treats, he can't resist liver treats! One little quirk—Moose has taken to occasionally scouting the counters, so it’s best to take extra care and not leave food out.  He does have a little fear of thunderstorms. But don’t worry—his vet has provided medication for those extra-stressful days, ensuring he remains comfortable. Above all, Moose is affectionate and cuddly, capturing the hearts of everyone around him. It’s not uncommon for total strangers to stop and praise his beauty!
