You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.German Shepherd DogMeet Rainey one of our Momma Dogs.    Rainey has been wonderful so far! She knows sit and down, settles in for cuddles, and walks pretty well on a leash. She is house trained. She is a counter surfer (We're working on it) and has opened the toilet lid to get a drink. (That was a first!) She's still in the recovery time from her HW treatment, but she will eventually love long walks and playing with toys. For now she enjoys a good bone and being with her people. She's good with kids and other dogs.  If you don't have an approved adoption application and want to be considered for them.  You will want to apply online at http://homewardbound2u.rescuegroups.org (our application does not load well on phones. You should do this on a tablet or computer.). If you are already approved, you can email the foster mom at jlprowant@gmail.com .  Let her know what name and email address your application is filed under.  Do not schedule a meeting to see the puppy unless everyone in your home is agreed to get a puppy, that you are prepared to complete the adoption and take the puppy home if everyone agrees that it is a match.    Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.October 24, 2026, 1:31 pm

Story
Cozy is a 7 year old German Shorthaired Pointer/Weimaraner mix who has been part of my life since 2019, when I got him while I was in college. He is a very energetic, outgoing, and loving dog who thrives when he has activities or “jobs” to keep him busy. Cozy is extremely family-oriented and loves being around his people just as much as he loves being active. Despite all of his energy, he’s also a big cuddle bug and loves affection and relaxing with his family. He would do best with someone who can give him plenty of attention, activity, and love.

Story
Mira is a beautiful 6-year-old, approximately 80-pound girl who came to us from Lancaster just before giving birth to a litter of puppies. She’s done an amazing job raising her babies, and now that they’re ready to find families of their own, it’s finally Mama Mira’s turn! Mira is a sweet, fairly low-key girl who loves being around her people. She’s excellent with kids and does wonderfully with dogs of all sizes. She isn't a big wrestler or romping playmate and is generally happy just peacefully sharing her space with her canine friends. She’s also got some impressive house manners! Mira is crate trained, potty trained, and knows come, sit, and leave it. She’s smart, very food motivated, and eager to please. Mira has been around cats without showing much interest when they pass by, but she has not lived loose with them, so we can't say for certain how she would do in a home with cats. She does well around pigs and horses. There are a couple of important things her future family should know. Mira cannot live with or have access to small animals such as chickens, birds, rabbits, or guinea pigs. She will also dig and may try to get under a fence, so she should be supervised when outdoors and should not be left unattended in a fenced yard. Overall, Mira is an absolutely wonderful dog: smart, affectionate, well-mannered, and ready to trade motherhood for the spoiled family-dog life. Her puppies are getting their fresh starts. Now it’s Mira’s turn to find hers. She will come spayed, vaccinated, microchipped and 4dx tested. Story
These adorable 9-week-old bundles of chaos came to us after an unplanned breeding in Lancaster. Mom is a German Shorthaired Pointer and dad is a Labradoodle. While some may have inherited dad’s looks, personality-wise these puppies are all Pointer! Currently growing up in foster care, these babies have been raised alongside kids, dogs and cats, giving them lots of early exposure to the busy world around them. They are super social, smart, vocal, mouthy and VERY active. They love to play, explore, investigate everything and keep their humans on their toes. They’ll thrive with active families who are excited about training, enrichment and giving those busy little brains and bodies plenty to do. Because they’re currently in their tiny-piranha stage and particularly mouthy, homes without very young children are preferred. If you’re looking for a quiet little couch potato...keep scrolling. But if you want an adorable, intelligent, energetic little hellion who will keep you laughing while you help them grow into an amazing dog, this litter might be exactly what you’re looking for! The crew: Theo is the only boy, along with his sisters Margaret, EmmaMay, Eleanor and Charlotte. She will come spayed, with age-appropriate vaccinations, microchipped.
