Story
🌼 Meet Mae 🌼
German Shorthaired Pointer mix (best guess)
Mae is pure sunshine wrapped in fur. She is a happy-go-lucky, outgoing girl with a gentle, sweet nature and a heart that loves everyone she meets, kids included. Mae has that rare combination of being both joyful and soft, making her a wonderful companion for a variety of households.
Mae is a proud graduate of our positive Paws-in-Prison training program, where she truly flourished. She is house trained, crate trained, and obedience trained, and she absolutely loves to learn. Mae is incredibly intelligent and has an impressive list of tricks she can perform. Training is not work for her, it’s her favorite hobby.
She does very well with other dogs and loves to play. With some dogs, she benefits from slower, proper introductions. This need can be somewhat random, but overall Mae is social, playful, and enjoys canine companionship.
Mae came to us as a stray and was surrendered by her previous family due to containment challenges. Because she is such a smart problem-solver, she has figured out how to escape traditional fencing, including in-ground fencing. For her safety, a secure setup such as a zip line or closely supervised outdoor time is strongly encouraged. This allows her to enjoy the outdoors she loves while staying safe.
Mae previously lived with cats in her former home. In the rescue environment, however, she becomes overly stimulated around cats, so we recommend a home without cats or with an adopter experienced in managing higher arousal and structured environments.
Mae is an incredibly special dog. She is affectionate, intelligent, eager to please, and full of personality. With the right setup and continued positive guidance, she will make a loyal, loving, and joyful addition to her future family.
