Story
There's nothing quite like the fun and silliness of a sweet puppy...and then they put their heads quietly on your shoulder breathing their warm baby breath. These very loving puppies are so pure and vulnerable that it's unbearable to think of them homeless and hungry or in a high-kill shelter with euthanasia pending due to a lack of space. Fondue, at just about 2 months old and almost 2 lbs (anticipated to be approximately 8 - 10 lbs or so when full-grown) was facing the end of her life before it ever began. Farfel's Texas rescuers are compassionate and loving and couldn't turn their backs on this gorgeous girl with the great temperament. They rescued Fondue just in the nick of time to spare her life. Fondue is believed to be a Long Haired Chihuahua / Pomeranian mix. This was an educated guess by Texas veterinarians since it's very difficult to assess the lineage of a young puppy. All we're positive of is that this little girl is absolutely irresistible. We do know that sweet Fondue is starting out with great energy. The excellent results of her puppy temperament-testing ended with a transport ticket to Colorado and a new life comprised of love and respect. Fondue is appropriately playful and inquisitive for her young age. She's also so loving and cuddly. This little girl is very excited to snuggle with those that are gentle and kind to her. This early personality that's emerging in Fondue is engaging and so sweet. We think she'll be a gift to a dog-loving family. Since Fondue is just a new puppy, she's a blank slate just waiting for a kind and patient human to show her the way. She has all the potential in the world to be an awesome family companion. Our sweet Fondue will form firm bonds with her family (as well as other dogs and humans) and learn positive socialization skills through positive reinforcement training classes. This training experience will make a profound difference in a dog's future behavior and their relationship with their people. It does take time and commitment yet pays off a thousand times over when you have a dog that can accompany you out in the world with excellent behavior. We feel very strongly that every dog and their family deserves the opportunity for formal, positive reinforcement training classes. We therefore aren't willing to adopt Fondue out to a home that doesn't choose to offer her this training opportunity. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of approved positive reinforcement / force-free trainers in your area. We're open to Fondue finding her forever home with a retired couple or individual with lots of energy to train and enjoy a silly and super-smart puppy. A younger family that works from a home-based office would be a great choice as well for our social puppy. Fondue appears to enjoy her relationships with all humans and dogs. We would prefer however, to place her in a home with older kids only (tail pulling or rough treatment by young kids will create an adult dog that's fearful of children). Older kids can also be active participants in a training regimen and friendship that's so important in a puppy's development. Fondue enjoys her relationships with other dogs as well and would love playing hard in the sunshine with a canine friend on a beautiful day. Fondue will be up to date on her vetting / vaccinations to be in line with our commitment to adopting out only healthy dogs. Current research is clear that Fondue is far too young to be spayed. When she reaches 1 year of age, it's far safer for her to be fixed. Farfel's is happy at that point to cover all costs toward her spay. Fondue will be arriving on transport in Boulder on Wednesday 6/24/2026 but won't be ready to go to her new home until approximately July 7th. Applications are currently being accepted for this beautiful and very sweet best friend. An application can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/. If interested, please fill out completely and submit. **PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Fondue please be sure to fill out our Farfel's Rescue adoption application found at the link above or at farfels.com. Adoption site applications such as Petfinder and Adoptapet don't provide enough information and therefore aren't useful. Our Farfel's application is the only initial tool we have to determine a great match for this very deserving pup. We're sorry, but in many cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit our Farfel's Rescue adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue.
