Story
There are few things more adorable than puppies, and Pal's Place happens to have one of the cutest around: Kirby, a precious and perfect small mixed-breed pup looking for a loving home. This little angel was rescued from an overburdened animal control facility in rural Kentucky with his three littermates. He is now in a loving foster home on Chicago's north side, patiently waiting to meet his forever family. Kirby is just about 6 months old (as of 7/8/26) and weighs 18 pounds. Given his current age and weight, we anticipate a fully mature weight of about 25 pounds. He resembles a mini Golden Retriever and is perfect for anyone looking for a big-dog personality and appearance in a smaller, more compact package. Breed guess...variety pack! Chihuahua is likely, along with terrier breeds such as Jack Russell or Rat Terrier. We also think Pomeranian, Cocker Spaniel, and/or Pekingese could be found somewhere in the family tree. Kirby is a friendly, social, curious, and happy puppy who will make a fantastic companion. Given his probable breed mix, Kirby is a clever, charismatic, enthusiastic, and energetic dog who will thrive with an active, engaging household that shares Kirby's solid sense of humor and zest for life. He enjoys the company of people and other dogs and is a phenomonal companion who we feel will fit in easily in most homes. Puppies are undoubtedly adorable and fun, but require a great deal of time and attention during their first several months. Please remember that puppies this age need frequent potty breaks (every 3-4 hours or so) and lots of playtime, engagement, and mental stimulation throughout the day, so please consider if you truly have the time for a puppy before applying. Kirby's adoption fee is $475. He is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and started on flea and heartworm preventatives.
* Kirby is fostered in Chicago, and meetings can be scheduled by appointment only after an adoption application has been completed and approved. His adoption fee is $475. Unfortunately, we cannot place holds on our dogs for any reason. Please do not submit an adoption application unless you are ready to meet and welcome a dog into your home within three days of applying. We respond to inquiries, questions, and applications by email. We are a volunteer-run organization and strive to respond to all inquiries within 24-48 hours, though we may occasionally take longer. Correspondence from the rescue may end up in your spam or junk folder. If you are awaiting a reply, please check those folders regularly.
