This 35-pound scruffy soul is done being the first thing sacrificed when life gets complicated. Now nicknamed "Aquaman" for his obsession with the pool, Duke is simply searching for the stability he’s been denied. He thrives with other dogs and finds pure joy in a good splash or a game of fetch. While he takes a beat to observe his surroundings before fully opening up—a natural response for a boy who has been displaced so often—he quickly reveals a loyal, calm, and deeply affectionate spirit.   Duke is ready to leave his history of rejection behind and find a family that understands "forever" isn't conditional. Whether he’s lounging by your side or cooling off in the water, he brings a gentle energy that has been missing from his life for far too long. Story
Ricotta is a 9-year-old German Shorthair Pointer mix who is currently with her original family, but who now needs a new home. The small children in our household tend to make her tense and nervous, and this is not the best life for her or for our kids. Ricotta is spayed, weighs between 30-35 lbs, and is an energetic girl. She loves being outdoors where she can sniff, explore, go on walks, and interact with her person. She loves one-on-one attention, so she would do well as an only dog. And no kids, please. It is difficult for us to make this decision, but we feel it is in Ricotta’s best interests. We have tried working with a trainer as well as other options, but we feel we have exhausted all avenues and that Ricotta would live her best life in an adult-only home where she is the only dog who can thrive on the love and attention lavished on her. Ricotta currently lives in in south Orange County, but we are happy to meet a potential adopter in San Diego or midway for a meet and greet. We are asking a nominal fee for her adoption of $100, and if you would like to meet her or learn more about her habits, email Michael at michaelvmao@gmail.com.
