Story
Meet Petra, a super sweet and spunky 3 month old female German Wirehaired Pointer mix puppy! Petra is one of the pups from the Oktoberfest litter, born to mama Gretchen (37 lb German Wirehaired Pointer mix - found as a stray in east TN when she was heavily pregnant) on 10/29/2025. We are unsure what Dad is, but based on the pups' current age and size, we think they will grow to around 40-60 lbs.  Petra is all white with a few tiny, faint black spots on the tips of her ears. She has the cutest little speckled nose! She is a little scruffy like her mom, and her coat has been getting more scruffy/wiry as she grows. Petra loves to play and chew on bones, her favorite spot is in your lap! She is a total love and a super sweet girl!   She is a typical happy, friendly puppy who is good with everyone! Good with dogs, cats, people, and kids. Young puppies are like blank slates who, with proper training and socialization, will grow into wonderful dogs. Petra is medically up to date (age appropriate) and is so excited to embark on her next adventure - finding her furever family! Apply to meet this sweetie today!  Click HERE for Adoption Application: pawsrescueleague.org/adopt Adoption fees vary based on the dog and are not negotiable. As a small rescue that does not receive government funding or grants, we rely on adoption fees to stay afloat. Adoption fees help cover the following: vaccinations, wellness exams, heartworm/4DX testing, parasite prevention, spay/neuter (age-appropriate), microchipping, transport expenses, and other rescue-related overhead/administrative costs. Paws Rescue League, Inc is an all-inclusive rescue that does NOT only rescue puppies and young, healthy dogs.  We make a point to also rescue seniors, dogs with special needs, moms, and other “less desirable” dogs, knowing that we will likely incur higher veterinary expenses and that these dogs may take longer to get adopted.  As such, an individual adoption fee is not only reimbursing PRL for expenses directly related to that dog, but it is also helping us to continue our mission of taking in dogs that would otherwise be too much of a financial burden to save. We believe that ALL dogs deserve a second chance. Thank you for your support and understanding! ##2594681##

Story
Old Yeller, is that a new trend? Old stuff made NEW?? Cause I am NOT old, although I am Yeller, a really pretty YELLER COLOR!!! :) I am a Yeller Chesapeake bay retriever/ YELLER lab mix, it is important for my new family to know about the Chesapeake bay breed. We can be very stubborn, smart and independent and I really like to be in charge, so my new family needs to be strong leaders too. I am a handsome bloke, with swirls of yellow and white all through my coat. I am very smart and very sweet. I can from a high kill shelter with no hope- Now I EXUDE hope!! And LOVE!!! I WAS heartworm positive but have already finished the treatment and am NEGATIVE and just stay on prevention for the rest of my life. I am good with other dogs, but really would be best in an only dog home, cause I want all the attention :) I LOVE MY people and I tend to take "control" of my home so have to have a couple of things... 1) STRONG leadership owner, 2) I have to have an owner who will be wiling to not let me meet everyone who visits.. I want to protect my home a little too much... and 3) I have to stay in the San Antonio/TX area so my rescue friends can keep close tabs on me and how i am doing :) I have been running and playing since I am safe, but really am a couch potato. I am a bigger boy and about 65-70#. Look me up, get my number, text or call me OR just APPLY to ADOPT ME!!! I will be waiting by the phone!!! Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX)

Story
Hazel is a sweet, loving 5-year-old rescue who has been an incredible part of our family for the past four years. She was adopted from a shelter at about 6 months old and has grown up alongside our four children, making her extremely patient, gentle, and family-friendly. Hazel loves the dog park, playing in the backyard with kids, and relaxing on the couch. She’s wonderfully versatile—happy to play hard or lounge quietly. She is healthy, well-mannered, does not bark in the house (naturally- not trained that way), and happily welcomes everyone she meets (including mail carriers!), so she’s all love and not a guard dog. Her only small weakness is her love for people food. Otherwise, Hazel is truly a wonderful companion. We are heartbroken to explore adoption due to worsening dog dander allergies despite medical treatment, and we are committed to finding Hazel a loving home where she will continue to be cherished.
