Story
ABOUT PEPPER Sweet little Pepper is a 5-year-old Schnauzer with the biggest heart. She came to HAP from a high-intake shelter down South when they no longer had space for her. Pepper quickly went into foster with us, here is what her foster family had to say about her: "Pepper is an amazing little girl who is so sweet and cuddly. Pepper is 5 years old, who is fully house trained. It seems like she might have been an apartment dog in the past, cause she can hold her bladder for a really long time. She hasn’t had a single accident since she’s been with us. Not too keen on the doggie door, but I bet she can learn with time. She so precious and super smart. She knows she isn't allowed in the kitchen when I am cooking, or on the couch if we are eating. She doesn't even beg. We didn’t even have to teach her she already came with this knowledge. When we first got her, she barked at the dog next-door and people walking around on the street, but she has been responding well with positive reinforcement to redirect her reactivity. She likes being told she is a good girl. She is a little hesitant meeting to people at first, but quickly warms up!" If you are interested in adopting this dog, please submit an adoption questionnaire! Our adoption process is on a first-come, best-match basis and we are not able to hold animals. If you are interested in this specific dog but it ends up not being the best fit upon meeting, our adoption counselors will work with you to help find a match! All household members, including children and other dogs, must come along for the meeting to make sure it's a good fit. If a match is made, we encourage same-day adoptions! Our adoption fees include the animals' spay/neuter, microchip, age-appropriate vaccinations and preventatives, fecal testing, heartworm testing, and a small bag of food to get you started.
