Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.THACKERY came from Slate Lake which is a Northern Ontario community and he came south in search of his forever family. He’s neutered, vaccinated including rabies, microchipped and been deemed a healthy boy. We’ve been told one of his parents was a Golden Retriever but no information on what breed the other parent could be. At a guess though, we think possibly a German Shepherd. Seeing as we don’t know both parents the size he’ll grow to be is also a guess but seeing as he’s just on a year old, chances are he’ll not grow much bigger. THACKERY is crate trained and sleeps quietly in there through the night and he’s also housetrained and will let you know when he has to go outside for his bathroom break. He loves to go on walks but would benefit from some leash training so he understands what’s expected of him when leash walking. He’s well socialized with other dogs and currently being fostered with 2 resident dogs and they all get along very well. Other dogs also come over to the house for visits so lots of doggie experience for this young man. Seeing as he loves to be with other dogs we would like to see him go to a home that has another one and one who’s a gentle soul just like he is. He loves to play outside in the yard and run around with his friends so a fenced-in yard is required for him. He has met a cat in his foster home and he’s not bothered by him at all but they haven’t actually met face-to-face so we would only recommend a home with a dog savvy cat and the two should only meet under strict supervision. THACKERY is very playful and loving and he loves nothing better than getting attention and having snuggles with his human on the couch. He is a sensitive somewhat anxious boy due to not having had a lot of human interaction but he did get attached to his foster mum pretty quickly. He now wants nothing more than to be with her so we would prefer him to go to a home that has someone who’s around most of the time. The toys he can play with are quite limited as he loves to chew so he would need super strong chewy ones, Nyla bones, deer antlers etc. Due to being a bit anxious he needs to be monitored if he starts to chew on his dog bed or blankets as he has been caught doing that a few times. An experienced dog owner is required for him and a quiet home to suit his sensitive nature. He’s not been exposed to too much noise and he tends to be a bit jumpy because of that. He does know some basic commands like sit, stay and will take his treats “gentle.” He does love his food and eats alongside the other dogs in the home with no problems at all. He hasn’t been exposed to children so we’re recommending they be aged 12 plus and be caring and loving towards dogs. He’s still under a year old and he would definitely benefit from obedience/leash training so please only apply for him if you’re going to be committed to doing this for him.   If THACKERY sounds like the boy for you then please submit an adoption application to meet him. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 26, 2024, 9:35 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.ASHOKA comes from a Northern Manitoba community and came south with his brother (Alaric) to find their family. He’s had his first vaccine, a microchip and been deemed a healthy boy by his vet. His breed is a guess as is the size he’ll grow to be as we have no knowledge on his parents. He’s a very social, playful, little guy who’s curious about this world around him. He loves to play with his toys and chase a ball around. Crinkle toys seem to his favourite to play with and excitedly run around with.  ASHOKA is crate trained and will sleep soundly through the night in there and he’ll wait patiently in the morning until he’s taken out for his bathroom break. He has just started to wear a harness and leash and go for short walks on the grass. He loves exploring and finding leaves and sticks to chew on, the odd stone too if you don’t watch out. His housetraining is a work in progress but he does use a pee pad kept in front of a door.  ASHOKA would love his family to be an active one to take him on lots of walks and hiking on the trails. He travels well in a vehicle and will always be ready for an adventure or two. He’s met a cat and isn’t too curious about him so with a slow monitored introduction he should be fine with one in his new home. He is very social and loves people as well as other dogs he’s met. He already working on his manners and sits for his meals and takes treats “gentle.” He’s met children but we do recommend they be 6 and up as well as kind and caring towards a puppy. He also requires a fully fenced yard for him to play in and to kept safe.   Puppies are fun and cute but also require a lot of work, patience and dedication to training. We need his adopter to be in agreement to sign him up for obedience/puppy training in order to adopt him.  His neuter is included in his adoption fee and will be performed by the time he’s 8 months old or reaches 60lbs (whichever comes first.) We also need his adopter to be in agreement with this as part of our rescue policy and his adoption agreement. If you are in agreement with the above and ASHOKA sounds like the guy for you then please complete the application in order to meet him.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 26, 2024, 9:35 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.ZENOBIA hails from Summer Beaver in Manitoba and came south with her sister (OLYMPIAS) to find their new family. She’s had her first set of puppy vaccines, a microchip and been deemed a healthy girl by the vet. We’re not sure if she’s a full Husky or the weight she’ll grow to be, we are getting her mum into the rescue within the next week though, so will then have more of an idea of her what her weight could be. ZENOBIA has lots of that Husky energy! She already loves to go on long walks and can keep up with the other dog in her foster home. She’s super loving and so smart as she already sits for her meals and takes her treats “gentle.” She sleeps soundly in her crate at night and has been waking up around 6:30am. She does fuss when she first goes in but soon settles down. she loves to chew on rubber toys, have snuggles and curl up in a cozy dog bed.  ZENOBIA is looking for a very active family who will take her on walks, hikes and lots of adventures. Her adoptive parents must have Husky experience and realize the energy they will have to put into making sure her exercise needs are met. A fenced yard is a must and children should be aged 6 and up and be caring, loving and gentle to animals. She hasn’t met a cat but if a cat is dog savvy and they have a slow introduction then all should be good.  Puppies are fun and cute but also require a lot of patience and dedication to training. We need her adopter to be in agreement to sign her up for obedience/puppy training in order to adopt her.  Her spay is included in her adoption fee and will be performed at 6 months of age and we also need her adopter to be in agreement with this as per our rescue agreement and in order to adopt her.  If you would like to meet ZENOBIAS then please complete the adoption application to to do so.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 26, 2024, 9:35 pm
