Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.LOVEY DOVEY hails from the Northern community of Sandy Lake and came south with her two sisters, Honey Bunch and Sweetie Pie and they’re named the Valentine Trio. She’s now looking to find her forever home. She’s received her three sets of puppy vaccines, her Rabies shot, a microchip, dewormer and has been deemed a healthy girl by her vet. We really don’t know the size she’ll grow to be as we have no information on either parent. The same can be said about the breeds we’ve stated as we just go by what she looks like. There is a picture of her with her 2 siblings and they look to be Lab mixes but that’s just a guess. She’s the smallest one in the litter and we could probably say the cuddliest one too as she loves to cuddle and sleep in her foster’s lap. As much as she loves her sisters and playing with them she will wander off and do her own thing too. She’s the observant one in the litter and will sit back to observe what the other two are up to. She’s currently teething so she has lots of chew toys including Nyla bones to keep her little teeth busy.  LOVEY DOVEY’s crate trained and sleeps quietly in it at night and will also nap in it during the day too. House training is going well and she rarely has an accident in the home but she is taken outside frequently. She really enjoys going on walks and gets excited when she knows she’s going on one. She wears a harness when she goes on one and like all puppies, she loves to run ahead of you. She has good manners and is slowly learning not to rush her food down. She will take treats “gentle” and will “sit” for her meals like a good girl.  LOVEY DOVEY’s ideal family should have Husky experience as although she’s a very gentle girl right now, the older she gets the more challenging she could become. They should also be an active one that loves the outdoors as we know once she’s a bigger girl she’ll love to be outside and want to be adventurous and go on hikes and long walks on the trails. She does well in a vehicle so will always be up for a drive and especially if it leads to an adventure for her. There’s no other dog (than her sisters) in her foster home so but she has met several in the neighbourhood so is well socialized. She should do well with another dog in the home and if there is one we do recommended that a slow introduction be made between them and the dog kept leashed for the first few introductions. She has 2 cats and 2 rabbits in her foster home and she does lay with the cats in front of the fireplace. She can be an only pet in the home provided she’s not left alone for long periods of time every day. Children should be aged 6yrs and up plus be loving, gentle and kind towards animals. She does require a fenced-in yard so she can be kept safe while she has a run around and play. LOVEY DOVEY, like all puppies, is cute, playful and fun but also require a lot of time, patience and dedication to training. We do need her adopter to be in agreement to take her for puppy/obedience training to help her to become the best girl possible. Her spay is included in her adoption fee and her potential adopter must be in agreement to have her spayed by the time she’s 6 months of age. The surgery will be at the Barrie SPCA but you can use your own vet and we’ll reimburse you what we would’ve paid for it there. In order for the rescue to do so we need the spay requirements to still be followed plus a copy of the procedure invoice and a picture of her (preferably in her onsie or cone) in order to do the reimbursement. We do post the picture on our fb page along with other pets that were “fixed” in the same week.  If LOVEY DOVEY sounds like she’ll suit your family and lifestyle then please submit an adoption application to meet her. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.June 2, 2026, 8:20 am

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.LUMINOX hails from the Northern community of Poplar Hill and came south along with her 4 puppies to find living homes. She was a loving, attentive mum and now she deserves to get that loving family she’s always dreamed of. She’s spayed, vaccinated including rabies, microchipped and been deemed a healthy girl by her vet. We can definitely see the Husky in her but not so much the Lab but she does have the loving, soft nature of one. So basically the breeds are just our assumption and she probably has many more in her too. She’s a bit under weight so could still do with gaining a few pounds which she should now seeing as she’s no longer nursing her puppies. She’s a sweet girl who just wants snuggles, toys and food. She loves her people and will be their shadow and follow them room-to-room because she doesn’t want to lose sight of them. Belly rubs? Did someone say belly rubs? This girl absolutely loves them and when she has her fosters full attention, she’ll then flop onto the floor and roll over so she can get that full-on belly rub.   LUMINOX is crate trained and will sleep well in it at night but not such a fan of it in the daytime so she is kept in a secure room and will settle down f er right away. She does well on her walks but we do not recommend anytime soon that she be off leash until her new owner is well acquainted with her and she’s very trusting of them. She’s housetrained and will let you know when she has to go outside for a bathroom break. She loves her belly rubs and will lean into her foster to let her know she wants them and when she gets their full attention she’ll then flop on the floor for her to give them. She loves to be in the water and she’ll run into it at full tilt and then lay down in it especially after a nice long walk in the woods. She enjoys car rides but sometimes needs bit of a boost to get her in there. She has the funniest quirk of when she’s going somewhere she’ll flop on the ground and go limp. However, she’s fine to be picked up and her smaller size makes it easier to manoeuvre her. She’ll do this sometimes at night when it’s bedtime and time to get her into her crate. She does this as she’d much rather stay with her people and she envisions herself lying on the bed rather than in the crate. She’s well socialized with dogs of all sizes and a lot of different breeds and she also has 2 of them in her foster home. They walk and play well together and love to burn off energy by playing chase in the back yard. She does have a prey drive so we’re saying no cats or critters in her new home. She’s only met children aged 10 plus and did very well with them so we are recommending they should be over the age of 10yrs and be gentle and loving towards animals.  LUMINOX loves to play with toys especially the squeaky ones. She has to be monitored with them though as she’ll chew through them pretty quick to get at that squeaker. So we’re recommending the toughest toys for her like the Kong brand and Nyla bones to chew on. She’s very food motivated so it’s very easy to teach new tricks and commands with treats. She already knows sit, paw, down, come and stay to name a few. Although she already knows these commands we do strongly recommend that her new owner take her to obedience/training school and it’s also a great way for her owner to bond with her. She’s great at sniffing out kibble too and has raided her kibble bin a couple of times so food should be kept well out of her reach. She doesn’t show any signs of  resource guarding with people when it comes to food or toys and they can safely be taken from her. She does require a fenced in yard and one that is secure as she’ll go on a mission to find gaps in it and try to escape. She does have a prey drive so  absolutely no cats or small critters in the home for her. She does chase after bunnies and other critters and one time she did manage to catch a bunny and it unfortunately didn’t survive.  If LUMINOX sounds like she’d fit into your home then please submit an adoption application to meet her.    Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 7, 2026, 10:07 pm

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.COTTAGE hails from the Northern community of Keywaywin and came south with her 3 siblings, Muskoka, Dock and Bonfire to find her forever home. She’s had her 2 sets of puppy vaccines, a microchip, “Interceptor Plus” dewormer and been deemed a healthy girl by her Vet. We have no information on either parent so the breeds we have her listed as and the size she’ll grow to be is just an educated guess. Seeing as she comes from a community with lots of stray dogs she no doubt has many different breeds in her that are not as notable as well. She really loves to socialize with people and will excitedly run up to them with her tail wagging to greet them. With her happy personality and loving nature she’s ready to find her forever home where she can continue to thrive and grow. COTTAGE is sweet, playful and full of curiosity. This lovely girl loves to spend time outside playing in her fenced-in yard. When her playtime is over she’s all about the cuddles and she’ll happily curl up in your lap for some quality nap time. COTTAGE has just started her crate training and is picking up on that very quickly as she’s a very smart girl. She’s only just started going out for her bathroom breaks and she’s just starting to realize that’s the place to do her business. She’s just started to go on walks but she’s already getting to know when it’s time to go out and she gets excited about going out. Due to teething, she’s at a chewing stage and needs lots of chewy toys to satisfy that urge not to chew on anything that she shouldn’t. She really loves to chew on a Nyla bone to keep those little teeth busy too. She’s starting to learn a couple of basic commands already such as go “sit” for her meals and to take treats “gentle.” COTTAGE’s ideal family would be an active one who loves the outdoors, going on hikes, walks and will take her on adventures with them. She really loves to go in a vehicle and will just rest in her crate and quietly enjoy being driven around. There is a large female dog in her foster home and they get on very well together so she would definitely suit a home with one. She’s never met a cat so if there’s one in the home then they should be dog savvy and we always recommend that a slow, monitored introduction be made between them while the puppy is on a leash. She needs a fenced-in yard so she can run around and play safely. Children should be aged 6yrs and up plus be gentle, loving and caring towards animals.  COTTAGE, like all puppies is cute, playful and a fun puppy but she’ll also require a lot of time, patience and dedication to training. We need her adopter to commit to signing her up for puppy training/obedience classes so she can be the most well behaved puppy possible. Her spay is included in her adoption fee and her potential adopter must be in agreement to have her spay performed by the time she’s 6 months of age. It will either be at our vet’s office or be at the Barrie SPCA. You do have the option to use your own vet and we’ll reimburse you what we would’ve paid for it there. However her spay will still have to be performed in the above timeframe. For the reimbursement we will need a copy of the procedure invoice and an updated photo of her (preferably in a onsie or cone after the surgery.) The photo will be put on our fb page along with other animals that were spay/neutered that same week. If COTTAGE sounds like she’d suit your home and lifestyle then please submit an adoption application to meet her. It should be noted that puppies personalities can change daily/weekly as their little brains develop. We try to keep our puppy postings as up-to-date as possible but due to their development, it’s not always possible to note 100% accurate behavioural information. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.June 2, 2026, 8:20 am

Story
Eden is an approximately one-year-old Husky mix female who came to us from Moose Factory in northern Ontario. She has been doing very well in foster care and, now that her vetting is completed, she is ready to find her forever home! Eden came to us with a previous injury that we can only guess was the result of being hit by a car. She had a diaphragmatic hernia that required intensive surgery and several days care at the emergency specialist clinic, but she is now fully recovered. We can also see on x-ray that she had a previously fractured right hip and femur - this was healed prior to coming into our care but because of the way it healed on it's own, Eden will always have a unique gait when walking/running. This doesn't affect her mobility and play but does mean that she should maintain a lean body condition and receive joint supplements daily for her lifetime. Despite this, she remains an active, happy young dog who embraces life with energy and joy! Eden has a friendly, affectionate nature and a wonderful disposition. She is house-trained, crate-trained, and walks well on leash. Eden travels comfortably in the car, settles nicely in her crate at night, and has already learned basic commands such as sit and come. Eden is highly social and enjoys meeting new peopleshe greets everyone with enthusiasm and will benefit from continued reinforcement of polite greetings. She gets very excited to meet other dogs and loves to launch into play! She might be a bit too much for a small, timid dog, but she would love a big playful buddy to keep her busy! She can be left uncrated for short periods of time, though like many young dogs, she enjoys chewing and digging. Overall, Eden is a loving, well-adjusted companion who will thrive in a home ready to continue her training and support her health needs while enjoying all the affection she has to offer. If you are looking for all the joy of a young dog - Eden may be your perfect match! Please complete an adoption application on our website if you'd like to add Eden to your family!   Our adoption fees cover all up to date veterinary needs, including but not limited to: full veterinary examination, age appropriate vaccinations, fecal test and parasite prevention, wellness bloodwork, spay or neuter, and microchip. All dogs will be started on a 6 week trial of pet insurance after adoption. Local adopters can take advantage of 50% off a training course at RuffHaus in Barrie (www.ruffhaus.ca) and all adopters will also be signed up for Petcademy to offer 30 days of free text-based behavioural support.   Please visit our website www.preciouspawsrescue.ca to submit an adoption application.

Story
Luna is a chill but spunky senior girl. She was surrendered to us due to some medical complications that have since been resolved. She likes to bask in the sun, and also enjoys relaxing in the snow. She truly loves to be outside enjoying the fresh air. Luna is a vocal girl who likes to howl and "talk" to her people. She makes us laugh every day with her bossy quirks .Luna is looking for a quiet home. She can be protective of her space occasionally, and will need time to slowly warm up to new people. Luna's family would need to come to Dog Tales for frequent visits before bringing her home, in order to help her transition to her new family. An experienced adopter with no dogs or children is Luna's ideal family.
