Story
I purchased Nala from a Pet Store at 7 weeks. She'll be 3 years in June. She's sweet but barks constantly. I don't have the time or skills to train her right now due to some family obligations. She likes to run and play with soccer balls. She occasionally will dig holes, but if you give her a toy or ball she can be re-directed. She is does well riding in the car, though she will bark at people she sees outside of the car. Overall, a very sweet dog.

Story
PLEASE READ THE WHOLE DESCRIPTION BEFORE YOU APPLY Meet Millie, a Golden Retriever we rescued from a puppy mill. Millie is available for adoption with a 2-week trial.  Millie is unsocialized with many issues.   Adopter must live within 75 miles of Crown Point , Indiana. We will bring her to your home for a meet and greet Millie was born Sept 25, 2022. She weighs 50 lbs. She is a gentle, sweet, and lovable soul. Millie is in a foster home. She has gone from being terrified of people to loving everyone at her foster home. She will dance around for treats and play with other dogs all day in her foster home. However, you will not see the happy side of Millie for a few weeks. She reverts to being afraid in new surroundings and with new people. The trusting process will start all over again.  She needs a special home.  She will cower down when someone approaches her she doesn't know. She will lie in a corner with her head down at first. She will not come to you. She will need to adjust on her own time   She is very treat-motivated, although in the first few weeks she would not take any treats from us. She was too scared. She does not walk on a leash well, and she becomes anxious. SHE MUST HAVE A SECURE FENCED-IN BACK YARD She gets along great with other dogs. Another friendly and playful dog would help to build her confidence. She needs an adult in the family who is home during the day, no young children under 10 years of age, although she loves all people and kids, she is skittish.   She sleeps in the bedroom at night on the floor When she first came here, she had an open door crate in the family room, which was her safe place. Mille will need to be crated when you leave,  she will chew up things and counter surf. This is one of the reasons that she needs a home where the adopter is home during the day. She does not like to be crated for long. Crating and being left alone creates her anxiety.  Millie will need time and patience for her to come around. She needs a special home. Thankfully, treats are the way to her heart, but not at first.  She is housetrained, however, the foster home does have a pet door, so she goes outside as she pleases. Millie is spayed, up to date on vaccines, and is microchipped. She is a sweet, gentle, unsocialized girl who came from a bad puppy mill and needs a lot of patience before she will trust you.  We are looking for the right home. Only apply if you are serious and meet our adoption criteria. You must work out of your home, be a homemaker, or be retired. There may be times you will need to carry her inside when she is outside. Whomever adopts her must be physically able to handle an anxious and scared dog. Can you carry a 50lb dog if she lies down on you and won't walk?   DO NOT APPLY UNLESS YOU MEET THE ABOVE CRITERIA ##1804545##

Story
Fabio and his brother Fynny were born on 12/28/2024. They are 4 months old, and are AKC-registered Golden Retrievers. They have the typical Golden Retriever personality: happy and friendly. Mom is 40 lbs, and dad is 65 lbs. Fabio is currently 35lbs and will be big like his dad.  We require a fenced-in yard, no invisible fences: someone who is home more and has the time to care for a puppy. We do not adopt puppies to families with kids under the age of 8.  Puppies are up to date on vaccinations, deworming, and microchipped. He will not be neutered before adoption, as our vet will not neuter under the age of 6 months. A UC Davis study concluded that neutering Golden Retrievers before one year of age may increase the risk of developing certain cancers and joint diseases. Adopter will sign a spay/ neuter agreement and place a deposit of $75. The spay/neuter deposit is retained by us and shall be returned to the adopter with proof of spay/neuter. He is up to date on vaccines, including Rabies. Dewormed, vet checked, and microchipped. If a puppy is listed on our website, it is still available. He can leave for adoption after May 20th. You can put down a $50 deposit if your application is approved to hold him until adoption day.  Please put in an application on our website at www.indianasaveadog.com.  ##2399823##

Story
HONEY is a F1B Goldendoodle that was rescued from a puppy mill. She is 6 1/2 years old and 50lbs.  She has been with us for  5 1/2 years. She is considered one of our Sanctuary Dogs that could be a lifer. . However, if she can be adopted by the right home, that would be great. She would love being the only dog and getting all the attention. She loves people. She was terrified of people when she first came.. Her fear is getting better with people. Once she bonds with someone, she is the sweetest, most lovable dog to them. Like others in our sanctuary, she will never be a social butterfly. Honey gets groomed every 2 months and rides in the car well. She will walk on a leash to the groomer's building, however, she is a bit afraid on a leash. She will probably never walk on a leash for daily walks, she will be too afraid. She just needs her backyard and her home. If you ever go on vacation, she will need a dog sitter at your home. She will never do well taking a trip or going to boarding. Honey has become a bit protective of her people. If you have company, she will stay away, however, there have been incidents when a stranger turns their back, she will try to nip at their ankles, then run away when they turn around. We feel she is protecting us. We would not call this aggression; it has never led to more than a nip, and then she runs the other way. She does not do it with all people. The key would be for her to get to know your guests with treats or put her in another room. She would do best in a home with no children because of the possible nipping. She is good with dogs, however, she will be the alpha dog, and she can be a bully. She does not play with dogs either, she just wants her people. She is a calm dog. She has no anxiety. You can leave her to free roam. She never uses a crate. She can be trusted. She will not chew or get into anything. She is very well-behaved. She needs a secure fenced-in yard and someone home during the day. You must be located within 75 miles of Grovertown, Indiana.  She is vaccinated, spayed, and microchipped. Her adoption fee is $150. We will do a 2-week trial adoption to make sure she is a good fit. Please put in an application on our website www.indianasaveadog.com  ##2057193##

Story
Who’s looking for a little extra sunshine in their life?! Sweet Sunny has a story that is sadly all too common these days - she was picked up as a stray in rural Texas, and brought to the local shelter where she waited for a family who never came looking for her. While we’re not 100% sure what Sunny’s past looks like, she is as sweet as they come. She has several characteristics of a Great Pyrenees, stubborn, cautious and will bark when she hears something, but also is a very loving, sweet and gentle girl. As Sunny has settled into her foster home she has done really well. She is getting along great with the resident dogs, and would really love another dog to play with in her forever home. She does seem to like cats, but maybe just a little bit too much, so we would recommend a home without. She’s still learning that toys can be fun, but she does love chewing on bones. Sunny will require a home with a fully, physically fenced yard. She has been spayed, microchipped, and is up to date on vaccines. If you would like to give Sunny the forever home she deserves, please reach out to yurko.mar0903@gmail.com for an application.
