Story
Vance is a Golden/Pyrenees mix and he is just a beautiful boy who desperately needs a dog-savvy and experienced foster home!! He will curl up on your lap and jump on your bed if you let him. He loves 'his people', which right now is the kennel staff and volunteers.    You won't have to worry about squirrels or chipmunks in your yard  as he'll chase them off for sure!  He definitely needs a dog experienced, adult household, with no kids under 18, and an above ground fenced yard (no apartments or condo type home). Vance is not a real social dog as he likes to be at home with his people! Can anyone take this sweet boy out of the kennel? Any family who is interested in Vance, and has been approved to meet him, MUST still be approved by his trainer. He likes smaller dogs but he is not wild about larger dogs and no cats. This sweet boy likes walks around the park and walks fine on leash. While he was out and about at the kennel, he wanted lots of loving in the office!!! And... Vance Loves fetching toys!We are still learning about this cutie, but if you would like to meet him and get him out of the kennel, please contact GRRAND ASAP! ##947055##

Story
This sweet girl is a lover and is looking for a dog-savvy, adult only couple or single person to love her back! She will require a home with an above ground physical fenced yard!!!   GRRAND will work with her adoptive home to help transition her.  Millie would love an active person who will take her to doggie daycare to get her energy out or good runs/walks. She would do fine as an only dog or with a stable, submissive dog, but no cats. She is also crate-trained.  Millie has a waited too long for her happy forever, and with just the right person, you can live a happy great life together! Can you be the one she deserves?   ##870068##

Story
This beautiful girl is Faith... Faith was one of the breeder dogs that was rescued from horrid conditions from the Amish puppy mill rescue in early Dec. Faith & Ivy are a bonded pair and as of now (mid-March 2024) we anticipate that they may be ready to consider being transitioned to the right adoptive family, possibly by June. **** Faith continues to be extremely unsocialized at this time, and the type of home she is needing is not just your typical home. There are quite a few MUST HAVES for her and they are:  MUST have someone who is experienced in helping unsocialized breeder dogs transition from the kennel situation to a home. This is NOT just for anyone, as the time and patience put into helping to rehabilitate these dogs is huge. She also MUST have another stable dog, MUST have a secure above ground fenced yard with direct access to the yard from the house, MUST have someone home more than the typical working family, and a home with NO kids under the age of 16. We are still learning about Faith but we do know she is very fearful of everything right now. You can tell she WANTS to get love but she is very hesitant and when one of the volunteers was able to pet her (once), she laid down in fear. Faith has only known the small confines of a kennel, so this new world she has been introduced to is very scary for her. She finds comfort in other dogs as when she is in the play area with volunteers, she was very indifferent and not so interested in people, but when she is outside with some other dogs, she will get excited and bounce around some.  We know we need to get her out of the kennel so she can begin her new journey in life. She needs to find a forever family or foster family that is excited to show her what love and compassion are about. Faith is going to take time... things can not be rushed for her. As said above, she is going to need to have a stable dog living in the home so they can show her the ropes and help build her confidence in everything, especially people. Faith is considered a flight risk, and will need a home with a secure above ground fenced yard with direct access to the yard from the home. We do not know how she will be with kids and or chaos, so a home with no kids under the age of 16 is best and we do not know how she is with cats at this time.  If you want to be the one to show Faith what life as a beloved family member is all about, please fill out an application: grrand.org/foster grrand.org/adopt GRRAND dogs are looking for their foster or adoptive homes in our current service area of Greater Louisville, Greater Lexington, or Greater Cincinnati and Dayton. Story
Merry Christmas from our "Twelfth Day of Christmas Dog"... Penny! I'm Penny and am very pleased to meet you! I'm a beautiful pure Golden Retriever, 3+ years old. I came to GRRAND in early 2022, so I have been in the kennel for a while. I can be a bit grouchy if you try and take one of my prize possessions away from me, usually a stick, but my close kennel buddies know to trick me with a treat for my stick! It works out beautifully, and don't tell them, but honestly, I get the better deal . Oh, and they said if anyone wanted to take me home they would teach them the same trick! I do love it at the kennel! I get love, two meals a day, and have a warm bed of my own in my 6' x 6' cozy kennel run. I even have a glass door to look out of; Tyg and Adam are across the way so we have nice conversations when the kennel team isn't around. I get to go outside with my favorite people at least three times a day. We play in the yard, go for walks, and sometimes go on field trips to the park and Starbucks. I love going to the pool in the summer, but my favorite is office time where I get to be petted and do stimulation games (and earn treats)! But my kennel guy seems sad these days; He says I'm getting 'institutionalized' at the kennel. I don't mind being in my cozy kennel run 20 hours a day, but he says I deserve better, like a home with people who love me and who will spend time with me. We have a radio at the kennel (Christmas carols playing now), but he says I should be able to watch Hallmark movies and Animal Planet on TV, whatever that is!! I think I'm his favorite, but don't tell Tyg! So just to make him happy I guess I'm ready to go home with a great person or couple this Christmas. I have been at the kennel for almost 600 days so going to a loving home would be an amazing Christmas gift. I realize I'm not 'Buddy The Elf' but the wonderful team at GRRAND love me (and I them) and they are committed to finding the right home for me and giving the family the right tools and education to make my adoption a success. Please consider fostering or adopting me in the very near future. Merry Christmas, Love Penny XOXO Penny is an absolutely beautiful 3 year old Golden Retriever who needs a very specific home! Please read all about her needs before applying! Penny is happy, tail wagging, and if she knows you, extremely friendly! After coming to GRRAND, we learned she had resource guarding tendencies, and she spent time with our excellent trainers and behaviourists to evaluate her needs. What we have learned is that Penny does resource guard certain items, and she can be sensitive around her head. Our kennel manager has spent a lot of time with Penny, and they have a close bond. He reports that Penny takes awhile to be comfortable and trust a person, but when she does trust you, she's an awesome dog who is very loyal and loving. We have a small team who handle her daily, and she loves to play and run outside, go for walks, do mental stimulation games (she is very smart!), and hang out in the office with her person. Penny needs the right home with a dog-savvy family who understands how dogs communicate. She will give a warning (ex. growl) if something is going on she doesn't like. This is Penny’s way of telling us she wants us to stop doing something, which is great! Her home must have no children or other animals, either in the home or visiting (e.g., grandchildren who come over). We would do a slow introduction period with several visits to the kennel and to her potential home to help build a bond, along with resource guarding training so we are sure the adopter/foster knows Penny's triggers and how to deal with them. And, as a young Golden, Penny will need plenty of high-quality exercise. If you are looking for a dog to take to family gatherings or breweries, Penny is not for you. But if you want to truly rescue a dog that just needs patience, understanding, love and training, Penny will reward you with an abundance of love and loyalty If you think you could be a good fit for Penny, please submit an application so you can connect and learn more! grrand.org/adopt grrand.org/foster-a-golden-retriever-with-grrand GRRAND dogs are looking for homes in Greater Louisville, Greater Lexington, and Greater Cincinnati and Dayton. Story
Andy is a 1.5-year-old golden retriever looking for a MEDICAL FOSTER IN LVL to give him love and special care! Andy's story is a sad one. He and his family's 8-year-old Dobermann were poisoned while they were in their family's backyard, and the culprit was never found. The 8-year-old Dobermann died as a result, and Andy suffered a stroke that has left him with serious mobility challenges. His wonderful family has been so supportive of Andy after this terrible incident, but they are now looking for a new home for Andy as they have done all they can to help in his recovery. He has trouble walking, although he has improved tremendously, he staggers and falls a lot and needs assistance getting down steps, eating, and drinking. He shakes a lot and resembles someone with Parkinson’s disease. (see video to better show his situation) This is so sad for Andy, and GRRAND is going to do what they can to help! https://youtube.com/shorts/3vzDMIq2sBQ?feature=share Andy needs a foster, preferably in Louisville, who can take him to his therapy sessions, though GRRAND can always help with transportation as needed. Andy needs to go to a household with no kids or other animals unless they are calm and laid back. More info to come... Could you be the perfect foster for Andy? If so, complete the application below and email GRRAND's Placement Coordinator Jane Sonntag or Foster Coordinator Mark Miller at GRRAND.org ##1846147##

Story
This 1 yr 5 mo old, 90lb handsome (and a little overweight) dude is Griffy! He is looking for an experienced adult only household (this means no kids or visiting grandkids) in the Cincinnati/Northern KY area only, who has the time to work with him on continued training. We need him to stay in this area as his trainer is there and needs to be apart of future follow up training with him and his new people.  This is what we know so far as we are still learning about him: "He is fine with the outdoor cat (GRRAND did cat test him) and free-range chickens. He was crate trained while being housebroken but has not been in a crate since he was 6 mo old. He is consistent about going outside to potty; consistent about staying off furniture; and does not chew up any belongings. He lived in a home with no fence so he is on a leash when outdoors". We do also know that Griffy gets along and plays well with other dogs (of all sizes) as he has spent lots of time on doggie play dates and has fun romping around as a part of the group! If you would like to learn more about Griffy, please fill out an app at GRRAND.org ##1849502##
