Story
Will was found as a stray and was very shy and afraid. With time, and a canine pal to show him the ropes, he's beginning to come out of his shell. He would do best in a calm adult environment where he can learn to trust the people around him to keep him safe. An adopter that understands he'll need time to warm up to you on HIS terms is important - you can't rush this guy or he retreats into his shell again. His coat was matted when he came to us, but he was very well behaved during his grooming which shows that he has been a loved and cared for pet at some point and has experienced visits to the groomer. He'll need regular brushing and occasional grooming to keep his coat in good shape which will also provide bonding time with his new humans.

Story
Hi Friends, My name is Jack aka Jackson and I am the sweetest lover boy you will ever meet. I love to love and recieve love! My family has gone through a divorce and will be relocating, so they want to find me the best Fur-Ever home ever! I have my sister Tink, the Goldendoodle and my human sister Scarlett who is 11. I love other dogs and kids, as long as they are friendly as I am a bit of a big chicken. I love to play in a fenced in yard. I am a graduate of Off Leash K-9 Training in Wilmington, DE. I am a big boy, about 100 lbs of fluffy love. I can be found smilling, being silly, playing with my sisters, and loving on new people often. I have never hurt a fly and have not ever been harshly disciplined, because I am the goodest boy and rarely get into mischif. I am house and cage trained. Though I prefer not sleeping in my crate and being near my humans. I am housebroken and have never had an accident, again, I am the goodest boy. Jack

Story
Dice is a "Very Energetic" 2 year old dog who just loves the outdoors. Born January 9th 2024. He loves to eat 😋 play and requires a belly rub after every meal. It's non negotiable. He is crate trained and leash trained. He will NOT urinate nor poo in the house. He just won't do it, he prefers to go on long walks. Whomever adopts Dice will be one lucky person because he is low maintenence even though he can be high maintenance if you neglect your duties. I just want Dice to be happy and the shelter is not for him. He is my son. Naturally I want the best for him. Again read the description Dice has high energy and if you don't know anything about Dogs with energy do not send a request to meet Dice you are wasting your time my time and his time Thank You very much.

Story
Max is a 3-year-old Goldendoodle who thrives best in a calm, structured environment. He is very loving and attached to his people, but he can become anxious and overstimulated around young children who are highly active, loud, or constantly jumping and running around. Because of this, we feel he would do best in a quieter home with older children or adults who can provide him with consistency, patience, and a peaceful environment where he feels secure.

Story
Dog Name: Penny Breed: doodle Sex: female Age: 9 months (DOB 8/29/25) Weight: 40lbs   Medical Needs: Spay and 4dx test is scheduled for 7/23/26 at BVSPCA in Georgetown. Keeping the appointment is a condition of adoption. If you aren’t going to be able to accommodate an appointment there (drop offs are 8-830 and pick ups are 4-5 ish) or are going to try to argue with us about it later, DO NOT APPLY, because we are going to tell you that the appointment stands.   Foster to adopt family must live within 1 hour of Georgetown so there won’t be any issues traveling back for her spay.   NO EXCEPTIONS.   Housebroken: She is housebroken, but she should be walked as soon as she comes out of the crate and/or after a meal.    Crate trained: She is very good in a crate but it takes a little encouragement with a treat to get into it as she wants to stay with the family. She will not bark while in the crate and sleeps through the night in it.    Good in the car: She has been traveling in her crate and is very good in that. She has not ridden outside of the crate in the car, but shows no sign of motion sickness.    Good on a leash: She is a puppy and still learning to walk on a leash. She will also pull if she sees a squirrel or bunny.    Energy level: She has energy and is very fast since she’s still a puppy. She is full of zoomies for about 10-15 minutes and then settles right down. She loves to play with toys and balls and is learning how to give the ball back. She prefers to throw it in the air and play with it herself, instead of returning it to me.   Need a fenced in yard: Yes. A fenced in yard would be the perfect way for Penny to burn off her puppy energy without having to be attached to a leash.     Dog Friendly: Yes. Penny has lived with other dogs her entire life and gets along very well with her Labrador retriever foster sister. She does need a slower, controlled intro though.    If yes, does your foster need another dog in its adoptive homes? Penny would be happy to be an only child or would enjoy one other dog. A large household of dogs might be too overwhelming for her.    Cat Friendly: Yes. She has met a cat or two so far and has not had issues. Since she is a puppy, she should be introduced to cats slowly and should adjust to living with them if the cat is cooperative.    Kid Friendly: Penny previously lived with children and was good with them, but we have only seen her interact with teenagers. She was fine with them.   If yes, what's the youngest child you'd recommend they be placed with?  Age 8 years end up with proper supervision. Again, Penny used to live with younger children and was fine with them. But she is still getting used to new experiences so she needs children that would understand she needs some time to get used to her new home and won’t immediately want hugs and cuddles. Her puppy teeth can be a little sharp and she’s still a bit timid as she learns about her new world.    Special traits that make your foster special or that we need to know about them?   Prior to coming to GRR, Penny’s world was very small. It consisted of the people in her home, and she never left to explore anything beyond her back yard. Because of this, she can be quite timid/fearful initially, and can get overstimulated easily. Her new family should be willing to take things slow with her, giving her time to get to know them, adjust to her surrounding and whatever her new norm is. If they’re willing to do this, they will be rewarded with a great girl!   Once she’s comfortable, Penny loves to play! She is all about balls and rubber toys. Soft or stuffed toys have not survived her puppy teeth at this point. She very sweetly brings you your shoes, one at a time and has yet to chew one. She is fascinated by the outdoors and could stare out the window for hours. Squirrels and bunnies and deer are her favorite animals. But when her energy wears out, she just loves to lay on the floor, resting her head on your feet or cuddling on the couch next to you. She’s a very intelligent little girl and ready to learn. She is learning the words “sit” and “off” because she is a puppy and likes to jump up on her hind legs to visit you and the counters. She is very good with grooming, nail trims and baths.     Foster’s Location: Seaford, DE    Application can be found here: https://www.grrde.org/adoption-application (If you already have an approved application on file, email GrassRootsDE@gmail.com, and ask the app team to pull your app.) ##2742057##
