Story
Marlowe came to the shelter as a stray after being reportedly dumped in front of a finder’s home. With no owner information available and an unregistered microchip, his past remains a mystery—but since arriving, staff have been working to help him feel safe and understood. Marlowe is a sensitive and gentle dog who is still adjusting to the shelter environment. He often presents with soft eyes, a loose body, and gentle manners, especially when taking treats. While he can be nervous and hypervigilant, he consistently shows that he is tolerant of handling and capable of forming positive connections. In the yard, Marlowe tends to be more independent, spending time sniffing and observing rather than seeking out interaction, but he has shown polite interest in other dogs and the ability to coexist. He walks nicely on leash and, although sometimes hesitant, responds to encouragement and patience. With time, consistency, and a calm environment, Marlowe has the potential to grow more confident and comfortable. Slow entry into the yard, avoidant, displacement sniffing. Moved away when dogs came close to him. 04/20/2026 Behavioral Kennel Presentation: At the front of his kennel, ears to the side, soft eyes, slightly open mouth, loose body, mid to low tail wags. Took a treat very gently through the bars. Leash Skills: Easy to leash, once leashed came out slowly. Walked on a loose leash with ears pinned back, low still tail, wide eyes, hypervigilant. Sociability: Asocial in the yard, spent most of the time in the yard sniffing around the fence with head low, ears back, low tail. Did not come over when called and was no longer eating treats outside. Tolerated all handling with ears to the side, panting, mid level tail wags, loose body, would walk away when I stopped. Play: Tossed a few toys, no interest. Dog Interaction: Met Hazel, loose mid to high tail wags, ears back, loose body. Interested in sniffing. Return to Kennel: Put on the brakes as we were heading inside, tossed some chicken ahead which he sniffed and started moving. In the kennels he pulled moderately, ears pinned back, eyes darting, tense body, low still tail. Would no go in his kennel for treats, needed mild leash pressure to get him. Once in he tried to run back out with wide eyes, ears back, low still tail. Was able to close the door in time and remove the leash. Color Level: Blue Recommendations and considerations: 04/17/2026 Dog was brought in as a stray. Finder said the dog was dumped in front of her house. Seems to be sensitive around the ears and head. Very scared but friendly with no signs of aggression ACCT Philly is located at 111 West Hunting Park Ave in Philadelphia. Story
Meet Hallie! Hallie is a Labradoodle mix under 3 years old with a big smile and even bigger zest for life! This happy girl is full of energy and always ready for her next adventure. Whether it’s playtime in the yard or heading out for a walk, Hallie brings enthusiasm wherever she goes. Because she gets so excited (life is just that fun!), she may need a little work on leash manners to help her channel all that excitement in a more polished way. With consistency and positive training, she’ll catch on quickly. Hallie would do best in a home with older kids who can match her high energy and playful spirit. She can be dog selective, so proper introductions and a compatible canine friend (if any) will be important. A fenced yard is a must for Hallie so she can safely run, play, and burn off her energy. If you’re looking for a fun-loving, active companion who will keep you moving and smiling, Hallie might be your perfect match! Adoption donation is $395 cash, $420 credit, debit or Venmo. This donation includes a microchip. ***A NOTE ON BREEDS: The dog's listed breed(s) is the best assessment made by a veterinarian, pet finder or rescue staff and is not guaranteed. Story
Stella is a 3.5-year-old, 45-pound dog whose life has been shaped by both deep love and repeated loss. None of it her fault. She was first surrendered to ACCT Philly due to seizures, placing her at risk with a time-stamped outcome. From there, she was rescued by Familiar Hearts Animal Society, given the care she needed, and finally adopted into a home of her own. For a while, Stella had what every dog deserves. But after nine months, she was returned. Again because of her seizures. And still, Stella remains exactly who she has always been :: a happy, gentle, deeply loving soul. She has a beautiful balance of energy, content to lounge by your side, yet quick to invite another dog into a playful game. She’s easy on leash, a wonderful walking companion, and adaptable to a variety of homes. Stella is especially tender with other animals, doing well with dogs and even cats, and she lights up around people, particularly children. Stella does have epilepsy, which means she will always experience seizures. Most are brief focal episodes lasting just seconds and don’t seem to interrupt her joy or engagement with life. Less frequently, she may have more significant seizures. She is on medication to help manage them, and her care team continues to learn what her “normal” looks like as her patterns evolve. What’s important to understand is this :: Stella is not a dog waiting to be fixed. She is a dog already living a full, connected, and joyful life. She is looking for a home that can meet her with steadiness and compassion. Someone who isn’t afraid of her diagnosis, but instead sees the extraordinary dog in front of them :: the one who keeps choosing joy, connection, and play, no matter how many times her world has changed. Stella has been let go more than once. She deserves this next home to be the one that holds. Apply to adopt her at https://www.familiarhearts.org/adoption-application. When approved, you can coordinate your meeting with her foster. Kennel License 18972

Story
Dog Name: QTip Breed: Havanese Sex: Male Age: 2-3 years old Weight: 13 pounds Medical Needs: None Housebroken: Yes Crate trained: Yes Good in the car: Yes Good on a leash: He’s hesitant in new places, but does well in familiar territory Energy level: Low Need a fenced in yard: Yes Dog Friendly: Yes If yes, does your foster need another dog in its adoptive homes? Yes Cat Friendly: Unknown Kid Friendly: Older children only If yes, what's the youngest child you'd recommend they be placed with? 12 years old Special traits that make your foster special or that we need to know: QTip is an adorable little sweetheart! He came to Delaware from West Virginia where he was formerly used for breeding. He is the sweetest boy and his curly coat is so soft! He loves attention. He will sit patiently while you brush or pet him and will paw at your hand to continue if you stop. Regular grooming will be necessary for QTip to keep his coat in good shape. QTip is housebroken and always keeps his crate clean. He sleeps quietly in his crate at night in his foster mom’s room. He prefers to be out if someone is home but he’s fine to be crated during the work day as long as he can see his doggie friends. He loves his dog foster siblings and is his most confident self when they are nearby. He often looks to them for guidance and follows their lead. He’ll need a friendly pup or two that are around his size in his forever home so they can show him the ropes. A securely fenced in yard is a must. Until he trusts his new family members, he might hesitate to come to you when called. Once he’s comfortable with you, he will be your shadow and will come running from wherever he is, inside or outside, when you call him. He is shy and hesitant at first around new people and doesn’t like loud noises or sudden movements. He likes to be near his people and he really loves it when people pet him. He is a great companion and will sit on your lap or next to you on the couch all day! Since QTip does not like loud noises or sudden movements, he shouldn’t be placed with children under 12. He wags his tail when he sees children, but is terrified when they run around. If your pack needs another member, QTip would love to join you!
