Story
The poof of perfection that grabbed your attention is Elderberry! She is 60 pounds of fluffy doodle-girl delight with the social skills of someone who always remembers your birthday and the joy of a dog who thinks every day should include at least one good toy and one solid romp in the sunshine. She’s estimated to be around 4 years old, she weighs 60 lbs, and for obvious reasons we think she is a doodle mix, best guess of course since she is a rescue pup. Elderberry meets new people with happy enthusiasm and this gentle little “hi, can we be friends?” energy that can make you a little giddy at first. Want to see Elderberry in action? Head to YouTube https://youtu.be/dzNBS8vaOg4 In her foster home, Elderberry is thriving. She’s house-trained, crate-trained, and her foster says she’s an easy, lovable roommate. She loads into the car all by herself like a seasoned road-trip buddy and rides wonderfully, so adventures, errands, and weekend outings are absolutely on the table. With dogs, she’s a happy, playful little athlete. She loves having a dog friend to wrestle and chase with, and she can absolutely hold her own in rough-and-tumble play. Charlie, a dog we lovingly call “the bowling ball” got dropped into the yard with her and they immediately ran around and wrestled the whole time, no awkward introductions, just “oh good, you’re my type.” She will bark a hello at other dogs out of excitement, and she’s still polishing her leash skills, so she’ll do best in a home that is happy to keep working on calm walking with her. She is a big girl and because she can get excited when she spots a potential playmate, apartment life isn’t the best fit for her. A steady stream of potential new friends in every hallway and on the sidewalks would be a bit too much for her to contain her enthusiasm. Elderberry is very people-oriented too, and she adores toys, so she could be perfectly happy as a solo dog as long as she’s getting regular activity, enrichment, and some fun dog time through playdates or daycare. For family life, we’d recommend older kids simply because she’s big, playful, and honestly… kind of a giant puppy. She’s not trying to hurt anyone, but her happy body could accidentally knock over a little one on learning legs. When it comes to cats, she was curious but not overly pushy when she met our house cat but she was able to walk away, which is a nice sign. We see potential for her to live with a feline friend but we would love further cat testing before we give a confident, green-light “yes.” Her size is the only concern, we want to know that she is not going to see a cat as a playmate once she is comfortable. If you’re ready for a golden-sunshine- joy, fluffy sidekick who’s equal parts cuddle-seeker and good-time-gal, Elderberry is ready to bounce into your life. Apply today! Email Stephanie@threelittlepittiesrescue.org We facilitate adoptions across the US through our own internal transport to ensure the quality of care. We travel to WA, UT, OR, ID, VA, PA, OH, NY, CT, VT and Canada (Canadian adopters will need to pick up in Bellingham, WA  or Brattleboro, VT for the eastern Canadian border)! Our pups travel in comfort with 24/7 care on our USDA licensed vehicles, including buses and cargo vans. You can join along on our private Facebook event page to follow their adventure, connecting you with other adopters and providing updates throughout their transport journey!   You will get to meet your new pup over a video call before signing paperwork, creating a fun and personalized adoption experience!    The adoption fee is $1,600 and includes all vetting (DAPP with booster, Bordetella, Rabies vaccine, multiple broad spectrum deworming treatments, spay/neuter, flea prevention, a 12 month heartworm preventative injectable, heartworm test and treatment if needed, a microchip with free lifetime registration, a high quality nylon Martingale collar, a health certificate deeming the pup healthy for travel, cost of transport*, and priceless years of love and loyal companionship!    We have over 15,000 successful adoptions so far and have excellent Google Reviews: https://g.co/kgs/UQ5Pyai We care deeply about making the perfect match between dog and family for long term success.    Our rescue has a 2 acre property in Texas where we assess every animal with trainers on staff, we modify behavior as needed, and create individualized behavior plans to help prepare dogs for their future families including crate training, potty training, leash walking, etc. Our fosters are able to attend group trainings and socialization play groups to keep dogs adoption-ready. Our on-site trainers support the positive growth of our dogs and we enjoy seeing their progress!    Our commitment to comprehensive medical care sets us apart. We've received glowing feedback from veterinarians who commend our dedication to ensuring the health and well-being of every animal in our care with treatments that often go above and beyond.   Our adoption fees reflect the extensive care and resources that go into each animal we save. The adoption fee is a donation to the mission and goes far beyond getting a fully vetted pet.    The rescue’s hard costs alone (excluding transport) for a healthy dog to go through our program typically range between $412 to $859, which includes boarding, food, medications, vaccines, and spay/neuter. For heartworm-positive dogs, hard costs are upwards of $1,368. Additionally, dogs requiring extended boarding, extra training, or extra medical care—such as dental work, vision care, or orthopedic care—can lead to expenses running into the thousands. Also, included in the adoption fee are costs to cover transport up to the Pacific Northwest or East Coast. Transport is a significant additional expense to the rescue.  While adoption fees help cover part of these expenses, we want to emphasize that the rescue does not receive government funding and must fundraise to offset the remaining expense balance which ranges $100-1,000++ per animal on these direct costs.   It doesn’t stop there! Story
Eve is a great companion dog. She is loyal and loving! I got her when she was 7 months old. She does have prior abuse and neglect issues. I have worked with her and have loved her so much. She would do best in a one dog household as she does have dominance issues - this could be trained out of her but I wouldn’t want to risk her being in a home with another animal when she is trying to get used to her new home. Potty trained and kennel trained. No aggression towards humans, some aggression/reactivity towards other animals including: big dogs, small dogs, cats.
