Story
Coming soon!! Fostered in Portsmouth, VA Meet Carmella! Carmella is an almost 4 month old (DOB 1/8/24) Aussiedoodle puppy that will steal your heart! She is about 20 lbs, is microchipped, and will be up to date on all vaccinations and preventatives when she goes to her new home. Carmella is not spayed yet and will require a spay contract to adopt with a $50 refundable deposit. Carmella was rescued from a puppy mill in Ohio and has faced some trials due to this. She is missing a toe on her back left paw and has a healed femoral fracture on her back right leg. The missing toe does not affect her at all, but the femoral fracture has caused her to have a slight limp and a stiff leg sometimes. Even with her defects, Carmella is still a very playful and sassy girl. She has seen an orthopedic surgeon to assess if surgery would be beneficial for her leg, but the surgeon recommended leaving it be as it hardly affects her activity. Since Carmella came into ASF, she has been thriving in her foster home. She has finished potty training, learned sit and lay down, and is doing well with stay/wait and recall. She loves to play with her foster siblings, even though they prefer to just ignore her. She gets along with everyone (cats, dogs, chickens, kids), but is a little shy with new people at first. Carmella loves her people so much and loves to cuddle and get belly rubs (her favorite)! She is a fairly calm tempered pup and medium energy typically, but can get rowdy when playing. She does not bark much, except when she is playing. She is crate trained; however, she does not prefer to be in the crate and can have some separation anxiety. She is usually given some type of interactive/enrichment toy while she is crated, which helps with her anxiety. She does fine crated at night, but will let you know when she is awake and ready to go in the morning. Carmella will thrive in a semi-active to active home that has plenty of time to spend with her. She is so special and so so sweet. She will make the perfect addition to your family and will steal and melt your heart in an instant! If she sounds perfect for you, please fill out our application: https://www.australianshepherdsfurever.org/adoption-application There is an additional $20 microchip fee which includes registration and transfer to her new furever family. All adoption fees are used for future rescue efforts.
